I hope to see a rapid court martial with the appropriate sentence carried out in the field. Zero tolerance for saboteurs.

Will the White House now face reality? Unfortunately, that's not likely. But maybe our military leaders will.
We shall see. The test will be whether they hold his Court Martial and execute his sentence "in country" or bring him back to the U.S., where he will have a ton of lawyers, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the ACLU in his corner.

Really, now. If a soldier is "insubordinate" when a war has just begun, "cashier" him or arrest him. DO NOT LET HIM GUARD A GRENADE DEPOTThis still makes me shake my head. Wtf were they thinking?

The FNC reporter said that he (Akbar) went after his immediate supervisors, which flies in the face of what the TIME magazine reporter (reported)...Right.
Watching last night, the on scene reporter said grenades were rolled into three tents, containing the Commander and his staff, and one of them didn't go off. The reporter was standing right there watching the guy being hauled away and had talked with people right there, before the spin started.
This doesn't sound like simply a beef against a superior. It sounds like an attempt to kill the top staff of the unit, thereby rendering it ineffective. This doesn't sound like any fragging I have ever heard of. This was an attack of operation sigificance!
But then, the "disgruntled soldier" fits in with the Beltway Sniper description as an "ex-Army Marksman". Anything to take away the suggestion this man was operating under any but the most narrow and sectarian motives.
My bet is, the CID already knows the real motive and the Army chain-of-command is in upheaval because of the possible ramifications of this attack. No doubt all the troops have heard by now and are walking around with a leery eye watching every Muslim serviceman/woman in sight. This could be a threat to every Commander and General walking around - not to mention the troops and their equipment. One can only imagine the possibilities of danger these people represent on every level.
You can fool the public by subtly changing the story quickly, and it probably will. But the troops won't be fooled by this tranparent chimera. You better believe they won't ignore it, even if ordered to do so by the PC Police and the ACLU lawyers!

Bring him Back !
I want to see them lining up to defend him, and hear the testimony of those who he betrayed.

Here's my post as I recalled the name beginning with "a".
I've been on FR way too long tonight but I swear I read the name abdul somewhere. He's not a mohammed. I don't capitalize murderer's names.
I'll go see if I can find the thread the name was on. I may have remembered it wrong but abdul is close to akbar imo.

The Japanese Americans were not sent to Europe because they might be confused as enemy. We had every expectation that the "Emperor is God" shinto religious training that many had received before the war might effect their willingness to fight.

Does anybody know if General John Abizaid is a Moslem? I know his parents were Arabic, I know he graduated from West Point and got a masters in Middle Eastern studies at Harvard, was a Ranger, was in Grenade ("Heartbreak Ridge" featured a scene based on something that Abizaid ordered while commanding a unit of Rangers - the scene with the bulldozers), but that's about it. Not a lot of info about him.

Your reply makes no sense - if that were the concern, why allow them to carry a weapon anywhere ?

Beltway John, as I refer to the sniper dude...was accused of the act but no one saw him throw the grenade, so the CD guys basically gave up and the Army found other ways to ensure his future with them was limited.
As for insubordination....I have an open mind about this subject...it depends greatly on what the guy is insubordiante about...if his child is dying...I can understand...but if you changed your religion and decided you can't fight one particuliar group or society...well, you need to go find a job with Taco Bell. The pledge you make when you enlist....says all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I was having a discussion on another forum and someone pointed out that they don't recall any executions for fraggings that took place in Vietnam. I just did a search and could find no information to refute his claim. I saw that there were anywhere from 350 to 1,400 incidents of fragging in Vietnam by US soldiers. Please, someone tell me that I just did a lousy search and that there's plenty of information about how these were handled. Please tell me we didn't 'punish' them by putting them in prison. If anything is worthy of death it's fragging during a time of war.

The circular analogy is complete, grasshopper. We couldn't trust the Nisei to raise their hands against the Emperor just like we can't trust Muslims to raise their hands against Islamo-facists.

No, no, I actually took a break from FR today but I swear I read the name starting with an "a" last night. Since there are thousands of posts on this, I can't find where I read it.
Now a blackhawn's down. All six on board are dead. Per Fox. In Afghanistan.
