Free Republic

To All Posters of Articles, News, and Announcements, etc:
For the duration of the war on Iraq, we would like to reserve the "Breaking News" category for news items that are pertaining to truly breaking news stories. Please post other news stories to Front Page, Editorial, Extended, or News categories as appropriate.
For the time being, please post announcements or news of rallies, chapter events, radio shows, TV shows and other items that are normally allowed in breaking news to Activism, Announcements, Free Republic, News, State categories, etc., as appropriate.
Please try to keep vanity posts or personal posts to a minimum or post them to the appropriate topics in the General Interest forum.
(notice that I did not post this announcement in breaking news)
Thanks very much for your continued support in this effort to keep our news forum focused on the news and for making Free Republic the premier conservative news forum on the planet.

Doubling your bump! ( Still wondering if Saddam will take a hike to Saudi Arabia. Just can't believe such a freak would be willing to die. )
And so it begins. War news is the news we will all be searching for in the next few days (hopefully only days!) so this effort to keep war topics at the top is a good one.

Have you read the new posting guidelines?
To: Amerigomag
Are you implying that I've violated them? If so, why? I do not recall ever having posted a "breaking news" story.
To: Aaron0617
Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). So, the protester falling off the bridge thread wasn't politics. Or was it the jokes on that thread? How are you defining Vanity?

~~~A let's roll bump. Don't forget to fly your flags when the fur flies. (And I know, a lot of us never took them down since 911). ~~~
Still have mine up from 912.
Jim, sent you a freepmail. I think there is some confusion about how to do this. When people go to post, they hit "chapters/activism" and then "breaking news" below that because that is how it looks like you get something in the sidebar.
Just so we have it right, to get something in the "Activism/Chapters" sidebar, you only have to click on that in the posting form, and not hit "Breaking"?
Yes, that is correct. And for rally or radio/TV announcements, etc, they can also click on "Announcements" if they wish. The idea is we want to reserve "Breaking" for breaking news reports.
