NEW YORK (CNN) -- Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines was singing a new tune late Friday, this time in the form of an apology to President Bush for saying she was ashamed that he was from Texas.
"As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect," Maines said in her latest statement.

Fake, vacuous, cynical and Not Good Enough. She shows her lack of moral fiber by first pleasing her euro-weenie audiences, then by attempting to please her American paymasters. So which is it, "mother"?

Maybe they should change the group name to Parie Faries and stay over there with people who find their statements charming. Good ridance.

"As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect," Maines said in her latest statement. I wonder if this is because she's seeing her career flushed down the toilet or whether she had an ephiphany.
Anyway, I don't believe that "whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect". That isn't the issue. Respect, at least with the President, should be assumed but that assumption can be destroyed with shameful acts.
The real issue is that there's imminent war and she's attacking the commander-in-chief for totally partisan reasons and doing it on foreign soil.
She still doesn't get it.

Apology not accepted. Dixie Chicks CD's are on the permanent do-not-buy list in my household, along with any product made in France, Germany and Communist China.

The heat in the Dixie Chick kitchen must be rising! Yes, I think that her co-entertainers, business manager, sponsors and other interested parties read her the riot act.

Too late fat chick. If she's ashamed of GWB, what are her thoughts on LBJ?

What amazes me is that she is so out of touch with their core fan base. Country (even if pop-tinged) tends to be the bastion of conservative values.
You expect vapor-headed vacuity from Bono's U2 fans.
I think these chicks chopped themsleves off at the knees. I think the damage is irreperable. I hope so.

I agree..Someone else's words..She wouldn't have enough brain cells to put a sentence together.

"As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect," Maines said in her latest statement." It wasn't a mere remark -- it was a belief. And, beliefs don't change overnight -- if ever. It's impossible to sincerely apologize for a belief -- at least this soon.
She said what she meant, when she said it, and (finally) came to realize that what she said will hurt her group's future and purchasing power.
In addition, to say that "whoever holds" the office of the President of the United States should be treated "with the utmost respect" is hysterical.
I was to respect Jimmy Carter's handling of the Iran hostage crisis? I'm to respect Bill Clinton for his desecration of the White House?
To: Pern
NOT SINCERE ENOUGH.Sorry, Natalie, you're still on my not play/buy list.

She just couldn't say "I'm sorry" and then shut up. She had to get in that I'm-apologizing-even-though-I-think-I-was-right-all-along blather.
