What amazes me is that she is so out of touch with their core fan base. Country (even if pop-tinged) tends to be the bastion of conservative values.

Glad to see you say that. It's the same arguement I have used with local Bush-Bots the last few days when they get all puffed-up and claim "If you don't support our president,you are a anti-American communist traitor!". I ask them if they supported LBJ during the VN war,or Bubba-1 during Bosnia/Kosovo,Somalia,and bombing aspirin factories,and were THEY "anti-American communist traitors" if they didn't. This shuts them up for some reason.
