Their leftist rally would be covered on CSPAN live starting at noon.

As explained here, here, their anti-American voices will not go unchallenged. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic has invited all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. as we hold a patriotic counter-protest of the so-called anti-war march being held by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. in Washington, D.C.

I'll be staying at home, nursing a cold that has left me voiceless (hee hee, no doubt to the secret pleasure of many chapter members! ;), handling the live thread. Let's do a combined live thread on the C-SPAN coverage of the leftists and my reports from the field on what's going on with the Right guys, OK?

Today's early morning news, if you're waking up, is that some time before 10 a.m. on our local Channel 4 (NBC), our Chapter Warlord, Kristinn, will be interviewed on why we are expressing a support-our-troops message.

While professing to be against war and racism, the groups behind this march have strong overtones of anti-semitism and support communist governments that wage war on their own people and other nations.

The D.C. Chapter will be making a patriotic moral stand against the marchers' anti-Americanism and willful silence about the barbaric, terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein.

We will also be sending a message of support to our men and women in uniform fighting the war on terrorism overseas and on the home-front.

Survivors of Saddam's reign of terror, many of whom are American citizens, will join us to put the lie to those who claim that the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated and to speak out about Saddam's crimes against humanity.

When: Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: North sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 15th Street and 9th Street. Meet at 15th and Penn. at 1 p.m.

Bring: American and Gadsden flags (large and small), along with signs bearing messages supporting our troops, President Bush, America and the war on terror.

Weather: Mostly sunny, temps in the low 60s.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Antiwar demonstrators gathered Saturday at the Washington Monument for a convergence on the White House as supporters of President Bush's Iraq policy planned a counter demonstration nearby.

Organizers at International ANSWER, a coalition of groups that have banded together to oppose a war, said they were expecting tens of thousands of people from more than 100 U.S. cities.

ANSWER also planned rallies in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Another group, Free Republic, plans to hold what it calls a patriotic rally to support U.S. troops Saturday afternoon on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington.

Thousands of people gathered in Atlanta, Georgia, waving American flags and shouting slogans and similar rallies are planned in other cities, including San Francisco, California, and Seattle, Washington.

We didn't get as many as we hoped on March 1st, with 8 inches of snow, but I'm heartened that our hard work for outreach wasn't a total waste: the ones that did come out on March 1st are committed friends who are sticking with us on subsequent Freeps. And that's good to see -- to expand the base of such "regulars."

All your hard work has shown good results! Unfortunately running around in that bitter cold & snow also gave you a bad cold!

(2) CNN has been broadcasting good stuff about the Atlanta rallies all day today, as witnessed in the stills on our thread

Actually, I think between CNN in Atlanta and FOXnews in DC, we did pretty well. The question is what kind of press bump we've parlayed for future rallies -- press doesn't seem to interested in broadcasting stuff about next weekend. But are they listening to it? Will it enter their consciousness? CNN did mention Philly rally tomorrow repeatedly.
