Their leftist rally would be covered on CSPAN live starting at noon.

As explained here, here, their anti-American voices will not go unchallenged. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic has invited all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. as we hold a patriotic counter-protest of the so-called anti-war march being held by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. in Washington, D.C.

I'll be staying at home, nursing a cold that has left me voiceless (hee hee, no doubt to the secret pleasure of many chapter members! ;), handling the live thread. Let's do a combined live thread on the C-SPAN coverage of the leftists and my reports from the field on what's going on with the Right guys, OK?

Today's early morning news, if you're waking up, is that some time before 10 a.m. on our local Channel 4 (NBC), our Chapter Warlord, Kristinn, will be interviewed on why we are expressing a support-our-troops message.

While professing to be against war and racism, the groups behind this march have strong overtones of anti-semitism and support communist governments that wage war on their own people and other nations.

The D.C. Chapter will be making a patriotic moral stand against the marchers' anti-Americanism and willful silence about the barbaric, terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein.

We will also be sending a message of support to our men and women in uniform fighting the war on terrorism overseas and on the home-front.

Survivors of Saddam's reign of terror, many of whom are American citizens, will join us to put the lie to those who claim that the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated and to speak out about Saddam's crimes against humanity.

When: Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: North sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 15th Street and 9th Street. Meet at 15th and Penn. at 1 p.m.

Bring: American and Gadsden flags (large and small), along with signs bearing messages supporting our troops, President Bush, America and the war on terror.

Weather: Mostly sunny, temps in the low 60s.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

I thought this was a timely post from Eric Burns at Foxnews. He says the longer the delay, the more educated the general public becomes. Which I guess accounts for shrinking crowds in Dc and gathering masses in Atlanta.

Talk shows on the all-news networks have likewise been forced to expand their reach and provide an enormous range of opinion.

Unfortunately, they have also provided an enormous range of opinion-givers; if I hear one more exposition of the nuances of foreign policy by Janeane Garofolo, I will turn my set to the Cartoon Channel and leave there until a cease-fire. Another result of all the coverage of the war that has not yet happened is that individual newscasts on the broadcast networks are showing a greater diversity of viewpoint.

Just saw you all on Fox News Channel at about 3:45. They did a segment on the ant-war critters, and then went to Pro Rally group. Saw Kristinn, and the signs "We gave peace a chance - we got 9-11, and Are you commies lost? LOL that was a good one.

Hi FTH, I've a quick comment, than a request.

It's my opinion that these Leftist protesters should make themselves even more visible & vocal to the American public.
I think they convince more folks to take a closer look at the Right's opinions.
Sure it's helpful to make it known as to the identity of these Leftist protests organizers & sponsors, but most folks don't need that information to realize on their own that these people's beliefs are not akin to their's.

When you've the time, could you link me to some sources regarding the Patriot Act vis-à-vis the U.S. Constitution?
And also any links to SCOTUS opinions? (I did a search last night at the SCOTUS website and came up with nothing)

Abner, that's W04man in your post 250 still shot, a retired (decorated) military veteran joining us for his second Freep with the DC Chapter! (His first was the March 1 Patriots Rally in the snow -- perhaps you saw him in CSPAN then, keeping his BUSH 2004 message front and center!)

W04man, go to post 250 in this thread to see a good still of you off of FOXNEWS. I recorded your comment. You were great! Very on-point about how you weren't pro-war, you were in favor of supporting the troops. Clear, articulate, on-point. What a way to go!!

Angelwood called and said things are winding down now. Some of the protestors got arrested at the World Bank according to the media. But all our people are safe and sound and had a great time with lots of media exposure for our message.

In this shot, the guy to the right is W04man. The young woman with the sign is a new Freeper, part of a family that's just joining us. (We did get new members with the March 1st rally.) I confess I don't know the name.

According to Angelwood, we also had a lot of people who heard about us on the radio, saw that the weather was good, and just came on down.

Kristinn was interviewed at some length by Fox national -- I hope they play a plug for your rally. I haven't seen any of Kristinn's interview on TV: other than showing the group with the signs, the only other direct quote from us FOXnews has broadcast, so far as I know, is W04man's general quote about supporting the troops and our President.

The deal is, perhaps someone can, but again that's not a regular at DC Freeps. The fact that I'm a regular and can't name a lot of this people is GOOD -- our group is suddenly growing! :) Someone here will know. But these are all relative newbies, God Bless 'em.

The heartening thing is that our numbers for this Freep have swelled from what they'd normally be for a short-notice counterprotest Freep. We didn't get as many as we hoped on March 1st, with 8 inches of snow, but I'm heartened that our hard work for outreach wasn't a total waste: the ones that did come out on March 1st are committed friends who are sticking with us on subsequent Freeps. And that's good to see -- to expand the base of such "regulars." Nice people too. Good solid Patriotic people. Makes me feel (belatedly) a little good about all that leafletting in the snow we did.
