Members of the DC Chapter of Free Republic are conducting a surprise FReep of the March for Peace organized by NOW and the Code Pink Ladies and it is going on as I type.
The Now and Code Pink Ladies will be joined by Raelian women (and Raelian men in touch with their feminine side) who plan a disrobing ceremony in front of the White House. Reports from the scene tell me that there's a bunch of Howard Stern fans who came to the White House today for the unveiling.
Positioned on the North side of Lafayette Park, inside the barriers, and ready to greet the "Peace" marchers are: Jimmy Valentine's brother, kristinn, tgslTakoma, daughterofTGSL, Cal, Exit148, Doctor Raoul and BillF. They have been interviewed already by Agence France-Presse and have had some spirited debates.
Lafayette Park is surrounded by a barricade fence and those marching will be confined to H Street, N.W. and 15th and 17th Streets. There are smaller groups (remember the 24 or less protest rule) currently allowed inside Lafayette Park and in front of the White House. If there is a confrontation, the DC Chapter members have been told they will be moved.
There are lots of smaller groups of people coming to the march, but they don't seem to know where it is and they are asking the FReepers for directions. Courteous as always, we are telling them "It's 12 blocks up and turn left at Bagdad."
The FReepers are armed with signs saying:
Code Pink Doesn't Care
The Pink Ladies Have RED Blood on Their Hands
Suzie "Medea" Benjamin Has Blood on Her Hands (she actually gave blood in Iraq a few weeks ago)
Code Pink Supports the Rape of Iraqi Women by Saddam's Torturers
The media is out in force for this march. Most of the tourists have come to see the naked Raelians.
The march was supposed to start at 1 p.m. but they have not reached the White House yet.

sounds like its getting hot out there... No mention yet in the ABC News flashes of opposing viewpoints being represented. The crowd estimate was 3000.

Good Luck to ya, wish I was there.

If I were there, I'd have a sign that read: "Dykes for Saddam," and I'd be sure to find a FOX TV camera so that poster would be on the evening news. Of course, these pathetic women probably already HAVE a sign like that!!!

"Sounds like a substitute for Nair doing an ad for Bull Dyke Maschosists."LOL...or a super duper cheap beauty treatment: "Forget wax! Forget mud baths! Just wrap one roll of duct tape around your entire body, let set for 20 minutes, and then PEEL! Instantly removes unwanted hair, blemishes and that tired looking outer layer of skin! It's THAT EASY!!"

Geez, I have to find a tape that the kids will watch long enough that I can sneak into the bedroom upstairs and watch FOX.
All I can think of is my Lesbian/teacher/flaming liberal/sister getting naked. The whole thing makes me cringe.
Oh help Me. (think of Christmas, think of kittens, think of anything but that)

A large gaggle of Code Pink protesters met some Anti-Abortion protesters infiltrating the march and they are standing, arguing in the middle of the street. I am Tickled Pink by this.

Somebody had to say it...

They are showing the Pinkniks on Fox right now.
Medea should avoid profile shots like the plague. That's all I'm saying.

I just saw the FoxNews report and it was fairly balanced and though it showed more shots of the crowd of pink ladies and men, the message got through -- the protesters weren't against the war, they were against the liberation of Iraq and its women and children.

It is a filmed segment, they will repeat it. It featured:
So much hot pink garb, it look like 5000 Barbies mobilizing for war
Medea Benjamin in profile (again, something she should avoid in future)
An interview with Janeane Garafolo, capped by her claim the Bush admin is the most incompetent ever
A text quote from NOW (who are partially sponsoring these CodePink freaks) to the effect that war in Iraq would hurt Iraqi women, who are afforded more rights and freedoms than their counterparts in other Arab nations
The stunning news that KURDISH women are protesting actiona gainst Saddam as well
And a brief note of sanity at the end, where an Iraqi-American woman said "These women aren't protesting against the war, they're protesting against liberation."
To: Angelwood
The coverage was lop-sided in favor of the Pinkniks, but the commentary was the balance--it was clearly from a "what the hell are they thinking?" POV.
To: Angelwood
Angelwood, Please relay to them (although it might be too late) that I am with them in spirit, 70,000+ FReepers are with them in spirit. They ARE NOT alone!

Last Update:
Kristinn said that the march is now over and the Fox estimate of 5,000 was pretty accurate.
Doctor Raoul and tgslTakoma (might have been one other) were assaulted by three protesters who shoved them and got in their face. The police stepped in, gave those guilty of the assaults a stern talking to, but made no arrests. One of the assaulters apologized.
One person was all upset about the chant "WAR SAVED THE JEWS." Her point was that everyone ignored what was going on; but our side pointed out that winning the war did save them.
Kristinn was pointing out a "message of Peace and Love brought to you by the peace protesters." Written in chalk on the street, a protester made his opinion clear: "F*** Bush."
There were a lot of heated arguments between the Pink Peace protesters and the DC Chapter members. The protesters didn't have much response to the fact that Saddam Hussein is responsible for the rapes of women and torture of children.
The protesters were told: "You are all individualists -- you are all wearing PINK!"
A feminist was marching in the protest carrying a box of pots and pans -- we don't know what was in the box.
The FReepers received quite a few attaboys from tourists and people on the streets today.
Were there "naked" Raelians?

I didn't see your post until after I spoke with Kristinn, but he'll see your message when he gets home.
They're off to do some more STEALTH freeping. We're having some fun this weekend...and on that note, my lips are sealed. LOL

Doctor Raoul and tgslTakoma (might have been one other) were assaulted by three protesters who shoved them and got in their face. Shrieking, hair-pulling wimmen in Pink? Or some men they enlisted for that purpose?
