Let me qualify that bit about only one policeman in our area. There were plenty around only a few yards away by the cement blocks, and some in a stair-well behind us -- but it was not like earlier at the park or at some other rallies when the horses, swats, and motorcycles surrounded us. The crowd, yesterday, was very peaceful (for the most part) mostly women, and there was never the threat that we felt at other times. The lone officer a few feet from us never showed concern, and in fact was smiling almost the whole time.

Probably undercovers also, as you say, and maybe even dressed in pink! LOL!

It got a little more *lively* after you had to leave for your train, exit. There were a few more "waves" of marchers that came through. I think it was 6 or 6:30pm before we finally packed up and left our corner.

I'm working on uploading my pictures now... I hope you got some good ones. I didn't get too many this time. (too busy with other stuff)

Lots of Howard Stern fans showed up but the Raelians cancelled.

OSHA must have cited it as a "tripping hazard".

That confrontation with that man only shows how 'brave' some people are when they are in a frenzy, when in reality they are cowards. Hurling insults at young girls shows how 'pink'livered they really are.

These rallys really bring people out all kinds. There was one lone older woman, over at the park, who had a sign saying: "GARDENERS FOR PEASE" LOL!

Looking at some of the pictures of the Patriotic Rallys from around the country, I see such a contrast to these Anti-Marchers who think they have the lock on patriotism. Just compare the display of the American flag.

When somone inquired about Fry Mumia, BillF responded that it was a Jamacian dish. To which I added, "yeah it comes with liberty fries and a Coke." Several officers of African decent admired the shirt but were unable to accept it as a gift.

Some college paper (Rutgers) ran a parody ad, in big letters it said "FREE MUMIA" and the fine print said, "With every purchase of a Big Mac and fries".

Good morning all! I'm working on photos now.

On looking through the photos, I think I got a shot of the woman who started the altercation with Kristinn, before she tried to rip the sign out of his hand.

Very interesting background activity in that shot. The guy who stepped in and started the really rough part of the wrestling match over the sign is in the background of the shot... talking with the older black man with the camera. Remember the older man? He kept trying to get us to fight with him.

I think they may have worked together to start a fight for a photo-op. And I just realized a few other things, The guy with the rag on his head was wearing a paper "Mobilization for Global Justice" sign on his backpack. He was looking for a chance to start a brawl, I'll bet. And where was Chief Ramsey during all this peace and love?

This is getting interesting...

No, unfortunately I wasn't there, I live about 1000 miles away. But thank goodness for the internet. The lovely photos posted were courtesy of the marchers themselves. They were posting daily, and when I found the photos online yesterday, I rummaged through the stack of thumbnails and posted the gems you see.

The pinko demonstration was probably good for the economy, as I doubt that any of them owned anything pink before this.

Most of the time people can go in and out of Lafayette Park with no problem.

I haven't been down there in a year or so. And that was when they had started to install the bollards on H Street, after seven years of the third-world banana republic look implemented by the Clinton administration (a combination of snow-fencing, chain link, and Jersey barriers).

Anyway the place is not exactly the hospitable park it used to be, what with the bums being fed daily on H Street side.
