Nothing follows...
Update: ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) -- Two sons of Osama bin Laden were arrested in southeastern Afghanistan in a joint operation involving U.S. forces, Pakistan's provincial home minister Sanaullah Zehri said. "They were arrested from Rabat area in Afghanistan," he told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. He did not identify the sons, but said that seven other Al Qaida men were killed in the operation. Zehri refused to identify which forces were involved in the operation. "They were allied forces," he said refusing to identify the nationalities of the forces involved in the operation. Rabat is at the extreme tip of southwestern Afghanistan where the Afghan, Pakistan and Iran borders meet.

In Washington, U.S. counterterrorism officials strongly disputed reports saying bin Laden's sons were captured. They said they had no information that would suggest any of the sons had been detained.
Zehri refused to say which military units were involved.
"They were allied forces," he said, operating near Rabat in the extreme southwestern tip of Afghanistan where it borders Pakistan and Iran.
Some sources claim Bin Laden has at least 23 children by several wives. Saad is one the oldest, in his early 20s and has emerged as an al-Qaida leader and one of America's top two dozen targets in the network. Mohammed and Ahmed bin Laden also support their father's efforts, U.S. officials say.

I saw him on the night the case was wrapped up and he had ALL KINDS of factual, inside information. He knew exactly what was going on and what was going to happen next. It was fascinating to watch....

CNBC is backing off the report by going silent. No one is going to confirm this for now. Doesn't mean it is not true. Whoever spoke to Whitcomb is now getting dumped on. He's called Whitcomb and told him to keep a lid on it. Watch CNBC or MSNBC, they are no longer going with the story.

Washington Post (found via Drudge) also says U.S. disputes the story but I suspect from the article's wording that we either are currently working to I.D. them or the government doesn't want this info public yet.

All the media had that info. Everyone has FBI sources. Where Chris looked bad was when he was GUESSING who the sniper was, and GUESSING what clues were important. Of course, he and MSNBC don't want us looking at those tapes. His alibi is that everyone got it wrong. But he did not say he was GUESSING he said he had inside info. Not credible.
That said, he is not wrong about this story, but the WH is NOT confirming it for now. Look at their statements earlier. They said the story was wrong, not that there were no captures. Carefully worded.

If so, they were awaiting it to be safe for our and Pakistan's troops.
I hope they find OBL's DNA amongst dead bodies.
To: dsw
no problem, I only posted what I heard, and didn;t think it reliable enough to start a new Breaking thread, I've been burned before.
I think it is probably true, will take a while to get confirmed. We want a bit of time to act on info we can gather from these AQ fish before they scatter. Probably too late for that.

This almost as bad as when there is a big car crash in the neighborhood, or a shooting, and the police have everything roped off.
People mill around and nobody really quite knows with certainty what has happened, rumors fly, folks just keep asking 'what's happening' as they arrive one by one, and the police just keep saying, "stay back" or "nothing to see here, folks, just be on your way".

Osama bin Laden, in his mid 40s, has at least 23 children by several wives. Woah! He looks a LOT older. See what living a baaaaa...d (as in sheep) life will do to ya!
Another son, Ahmed, is believed to be older than Saad and supports his father's activities.
Is this the one living in Saudia Arabia?

I have to ask you, if you distrust his credibility, why do you think he is correct this time? Something I've missed?

It's good news. Now we need to know the number of sons were arrested. Saad and Hamza bin Ladin. Two of his 14-18 sons is what JohnHuang2's breaking thread shows . . .
At least one of them will CAVE (couldn't resist).
LOL !!

He reported chatter as though it was an official confirmation. The chatter in the intelligence community is that it is true. But its all rumor until confirmed by a government official. Don't have that yet. Won't for a while.

I'm hoping we can get everyone running and pick up some of those in the US also. We just want to make sure we have a case because they are likely citizens.
The Buffalo cell got ticked off as their local Muslim supporters would not put up bail in the end. With the money sources drying up, these locals may be up a creek, without a paddle, as they say.
May they all rot in Hell.
