PATRIOTS RALLY FOR AMERICA IV ON C-SPAN TODAY, 1:05 P.M. EST, 3/02/03
C-SPAN ^ | Sunday, March 2, 2003 | Kristinn

Posted on 03/02/2003 5:36:42 AM PST by kristinn

Shiver along with the D.C. Chapter, FReepers from across the country, other patriotic Americans and Iraqi exiles as C-SPAN broadcasts the Patriots Rally For America IV today at 1:05 p.m.

Recorded yesterday at the cold, fog-shrouded, snow-covered grounds of the Washington Monument, the rally held to support our troops, President Bush and the American policy on Iraq features former Rep. Bob Dornan, Aziz Al-Taee, Blanquita Cullum, John Armor, James Parmelee, Kevin Martin, Adam Ramey and yours truly.

Also featured are singers Cullen Martin, Stephanie Souders and, from Nashville, Lowell Shyette.

The program, if shown in it's entirety, should run three hours and fifteen minutes.

Get some hot chocolate ready, pop some popcorn, put on your red, white and blue sweaters and get ready to root for the home team: the men and women serving in our Armed Forces.

EAGLES UP !!!

Thanks for the ping! Sorry to have had to miss this Rally -- I know how much I enjoyed the other three! Each one builds on the last. I'm so excited to hear about Mr. Aziz being interviewed on Fox News. Wasn't it one of the D.C. Chapter rallies that gave him a podium thereby possibly catching Fox News' eye? The number of people he has now been able to reach is immeasureable!

As I was reading through this thread trying to get caught up, I had to laugh as I was reminded of the "South Park" episode where Cartman and friends are trying to get townspeople to show up for a rally to protest Spielberg, et al. for P.C.'ing E.T. by replacing guns with walkie-talkies. To get people to turn out, they offered free hats to attendees. On a spoof of the "Free Mumia" absurdity, the townspeople held signs and chanted, "Free Hat! Free Hat!" Only South Park afficionadoes will see the humor, and it cracks me up every time I think of it.

Congratulations to everyone all across America who participated in some way!!

Jim any chance the screen name "Me Too" could be made available for Mr. Stein?

What happened to détente? That comment was not nice.

I think is point was simply that if you want to have the coverage, you've got to have the numbers. Little rallies are better than no rallies, but I think he's says that we really need a media-stopping event with THOUSANDS. For that, we would need to coordinate with other groups -- e.g. the Colleg Republicans, who have NUMBERS -- and work the conservative media to advertise, hype, and get the word out -- e.g. Rush and Co. It's a great idea, actually.

Let me congradulate you on your grasp of the obvious. You think that wasn't tried?

Let me tell you that the DC Chapter has done a lot more than any of the "established" groups have done. Most would rather stand around, sip cocktails and chat. You know how much support we have received from the RNC after repeated reuests? One reply to a question on media contacts and now the only guy they had that was worth anything is gone.

Put your money where your mouth is and volunteer to make one of your ideas actually work. You'll find they are not as easy (if your lucky) or as great (probably more likely) as you think.

Care to sign on or are you just full of hot air?

We have had the support of some dedicated folks in the local College Republicans and their help is greatly appreciated.

I'm as frustrated as the next person when it comes to turn-out. IMO, this is not the place to belittle the efforts of those who put hours and hours into making the Rally a success yesterday. Me? I just showed up. You both bring up Rush. When was the last time he got out from behind his golden microphone and headlined a rally? Maybe there is a large percentage of Americans who feel it is doing enough to just talk on, and listen to conservative talk radio?

FIVE LITTLE WORDS, "I am going to DC" would lauch a million people towards the Lincoln Memorial, but Rush Limbaugh has to say it.

"Unfortunately ...this is an event that should never have happened. ... efforts like yesterday's do more harm to the cause than good. It displays for all to see, that a few hundred ... turned out to support the President ... That ... diminishes the entire message. It also gives the Left a huge opening to laugh their asses off. ... it makes me extremely sad it was held. ... Patriots go to work everyday and have children to send to school. ... can never mobilize the way subversives and easily misled youth with no responsibilities or constructive agendas can."

You DO seem to be "extremely sad".

Well, I'm glad that "extremely sad" people like you, with a much more "constructive agenda" to deal with, stay home from the patriot's rallies for America.

Stay home and don't act so guilty and defensive about it.

But PLEASE --- stop "giving the Left a huge opening to laugh their asses off" when they read how you bad-mouth our rallies.

Yes, it was cold out there. My toes were frozen, even with thick, warm socks under my boots (good US combat boots, I'll have you know.) But when it got uncomfortable, I moved to the cement (a little warmer than standing in the snow) and reminded myself that what we were enduring was nothing compared to what the Iraqis have had to endure under the tyrant Saddam Hussein.

A question for the Left: What kind of country sends its young men and women -- the finest flowere of its youth -- halfway around the world to distant shores most of us have never heard of, to protect your right to trample on its flag and call its President evil? What kind of country sacrifices so much in blood and treasure to share the blessings of liberty with so many people so far away?

I'm extremely proud to be an Mareican, especially when I am among people like the fine Americans who showed up in that cold yesterday for our "little rally."

In case you have not been reading the entire thread, the acerbic attacks on me are over. We’ve already covered the ground over which you would like to tread.

And, I do put my money where my mouth is. I was one of a handful of active college republicans at my school – the second most liberal college in the U.S. next to Berkley. Every day was a fight. I’ve participated in more counter-rallies than I dare say. Recently, I was the only one who showed up at the NJ DemonRats HQ to protest Lousenberg’s entry on the Dem Senate ticket.

It’s not nice to assume.

Having a hostile next-door neighbor with a lunatic, ruthless dictator pointing nuclear warheads at ya tends to help mobilize people.

On second thought, the apathy in this country cannot be underestimated. Although they did find a renewed sense of patriotism and a sense of self-preservation after 9/11/01 for awhile anyway.
