Shiver along with the D.C. Chapter, FReepers from across the country, other patriotic Americans and Iraqi exiles as C-SPAN broadcasts the Patriots Rally For America IV today at 1:05 p.m.
Recorded yesterday at the cold, fog-shrouded, snow-covered grounds of the Washington Monument, the rally held to support our troops, President Bush and the American policy on Iraq features former Rep. Bob Dornan, Aziz Al-Taee, Blanquita Cullum, John Armor, James Parmelee, Kevin Martin, Adam Ramey and yours truly.
Also featured are singers Cullen Martin, Stephanie Souders and, from Nashville, Lowell Shyette.
The program, if shown in it's entirety, should run three hours and fifteen minutes.
Get some hot chocolate ready, pop some popcorn, put on your red, white and blue sweaters and get ready to root for the home team: the men and women serving in our Armed Forces.
EAGLES UP !!!

Our thanks to our speakers--all of whom kept their committment despite the lousy weather. Thanks also, to our friend Notra Trulock, who had to cancel due to personal reasons.
Special thanks to Sean Hannity. Many people travelled great distances to attend because of his mentions of the rally on his radio show when Bob Dornan was a guest on Tuesday.
It was great to see old FRiends, and meet new ones, who hit the road to stand with us yesterday. Spring is coming. We promise better weather for the next time we rally--hopefully in a victory celebration.

Thanks, as always, for making FR a place where patriotic Americans feel at home--especially in times of war.

Second that emotion. Here's a link to The Washington Times article about the rally (
http://www.washtimes.com/metro/20030302-19108312.htm). I am reliably informed that there ther is a wonderful picture of me in ther print edition. Unfortunately it didn't make it on to the web site. Boo Hoo.

Link to the story from the
Post.
The Chapter has achieved boilerplate status with the paper:
The rally was organized by the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, a conservative group that also called for the impeachment of President Bill Clinton in 1998. It also led "Get Out of Cheney's House" protests, aimed at Al Gore, at the U.S. Naval Observatory during the contested 2000 presidential election. The residence of the vice president is at the observatory.
The rally was a lot of fun. The emcee kept things moving (she always does a great job) and the speakers were outstanding. Thanks, to Kristinn, Angelwood, TGSLTakoma and the many others who put this together.

Interestingly,
The caption for the Photo notes "About 100 people turned out for the "Patriots Rally for America" at the Washington Monument..."
While the Story by Denise Barnes begins with "Several hundred demonstrators gathered on snow-covered grounds"
I wonder how many people will notice this.

It's a real closeup I tell ya, I wish they had these in the Web version.
Looks like they captured your good side then...

I just read the article in the Washington Post--(had a little trouble believing that the Post printed it--LOL!) The DC Chapter keeps this entire website in front of the news. The publicity ya'll provide for FR is awesome!
Keep up your hard work--and know that many of us across the country would love to be there for every one of your events.

As Dornan began his speech, a dissident Iraqi journalist, who said he had fled Baghdad after Hussein killed two of his brothers, ran toward the stage and threw a series of snowballs at a poster of the Iraqi president in military fatigues, knocking it over to cheers from the crowd. What the reporter failed to note was that the poster was a target from a small arms range that had multiple holes in it made by a 1911A1 - Springfiled Armory product. In addition it revealed Saddam's thoughts "Merci - Les singes rendant, qui mangent fromage."
I leave to Little Bill or Jimmy Valentine to provide the translation.

I personally counted 200 people in the crowd at one point during the rally with more walking our way. The crowd changed throughout the rally as some people needed to leave to find a place to warm up and others arrived to take their place in the snow-covered field. Kudos to all who showed up and stood for hours in the snow.

We wanted to send a message to the troops that folks back home support them. Towards the end of the rally, I read a partial list of rallies being held this weekend around the country to show that even though the national media won't trumpet them they are happening.
