"Open Doors and Open Windows. Silence About War With Islam"
ChronWatch ^ | Feb.25, 2003 | Robert Klein Engler

Posted on 02/25/2003 4:45:26 AM PST by conservativecorner

September 11th, 2002, came to the United States without another major catastrophe to lay at the feet of Al-Qaeda. The only near catastrophes were some of the memorials that flooded the country with confused sentiment and sometimes even vulgar displays. One cannot help but look with dismay at the glut of dead birds from a New Jersey ceremony and wonder what people were thinking when they decided to release these birds as a fitting memorial to the dead. The only ceremony I saw that had taste and dignity was in Britain. Flower petals falling from a chapel dome was as dignified as it was memorable. Americans seem doomed now to suffer a type of national repetition-compulsion every time September 11th comes around. Because we suffered a national trauma with the fall of the twin towers and have not yet figured out what it means, we will repeat the trauma again and again until meaning dulls it from our national unconscious.

Now, the debate about going to war with Iraq consumes the attention of the nations leaders and political commentators. The same lack of meaning about the events of September 11th, 2001 hover around this debate like a flock of vultures. The Democrats want to continue the war against the terrorists by going after Al-Qaeda and the Republicans want to invade Iraq with a preemptive strike. Both parties act like squabbling members of a dysfunctional family that have different points of view because they refuse to say what ought to be said. No one wants to admit that father is an irredeemable drunkard, so they argue over how best to pay his bounced checks. Instead of saying the truth we pretend another position and offer a solution to that. Just as the country refuses to say the truth about the events of September 11th, so now the political parties refuse to say the truth about the next step in our foreign policy. What is that truth our country and its politicians refuse to say? It is a very simple truth that most working class Americans already know. The truth is we are at war with Islam.

Once we see that the coming war with Islam is the defining moment of our age, then much that seems to exist in a fog comes into the light of day. The United States of America was attacked on September 11th, 2001 by the advanced forces of an Islamic army that is international in scope, global in its reach and representative of the Islamic world as a whole. We are not fighting a war on terror, but we are fighting, to the chagrin and dismay of Democrats and Republicans alike, a religious war against many nations. No one in high public office wants to admit this because their vested interest make it necessary to be silent. The Democrats do not want to face a religious war because the ideology of the party prevents it from being stated. Liberalism refuses to recognize that it has come up against practical limits. The political enterprise that began with the Enlightenment and the American and French Revolutions, the ideology that is at the core of the Democratic party, cannot imagine that a religious war will be the defining moment of the 21st century. Nor can the Republican party admit that we are at war with Islam. If the Democrats are made mute by their ideology, the Republicans are dumfounded by their economic interests. How can they admit a war with Islam when the fortunes of many in the party are tied to Islamic countries and their oil reserves? To declare war on Islam or to invade Saudi Arabia, would be to end the fortunes of many who fund the Republican party and have their fingers on foreign policy. Neither party speaks the truth for the country as a whole. They both hope their silence can buy a few more years of office and power. No one wants to take the drastic steps that a war with Islam requires. The very meaning of America and the integrity of our nation remains in the balance.

So, we have the two parties attempting to set a foreign policy that will never solve the problem. Unlike Columbus who believed the world to be round, our politicians after September 11th refuse to give up their beliefs in a foreign policy that is flat and meaningless. Our nation will never benefit from the truth not being spoken. The two political parties will protect, however, their constituency by not sailing off the edge of the earth. The Democrats will not abandon their minority interest groups and the Republicans will not abandon their wealthy businessmen, so we are to go into the future with a captain that neither tells us where we are sailing nor speaks the orders the sailors need to set the sails. Some say go after Al-Qaeda, other say invade Iraq. None say the future will be a war with Islam. The house of our country is wide open and all the politicians can do is to say that maybe if we close the window no one will notice they are coming through the door.

Anyone who undergoes military training knows that in war there is a difference between tactics and strategy. Tactics are the small steps we take on a longer, strategic journey. One platoon occupies a hill, another destroys an enemy ammunition dump by using fire and maneuver tactics. All of these small steps are part of a larger strategy that brings about the defeat of a nation’s army over the course of a protracted campaign. Sometimes, those who are involved in small unit tactics are unaware of the army’s larger strategy.

Up until now, both the Republicans and Democrats have been proposing tactics. Neither party has been forthcoming about a larger strategy to deal with the consequences of September 11th and a war with Islam. The Bush Administration's plans to invade Iraq is the closest thing we have to a tactic that is part of a larger, unspoken strategy. It is possible that some in the Bush Administration have concluded that indeed we are at war with Islam, and even though we cannot say that, we can plan a strategy for it. The events of September 11th, 2001 can be seen as an attack equal to the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor. The only reason we have a “war on terrorists” is because the politicians are reluctant to say the truth about the matter. Attacking Iraq may be the first utterance of a truth that has up until now stuck in our political throat. We already have troops on the ground in Afghanistan and are building up troops and supplies elsewhere in the middle east. Defeating Iraq and disarming Sadam Hussein will send a message to the rest of the Islamic world and will divide that world geographically in half. It will then be possible to pick off one at a time other Islamic governments. Over the long run, this could be a strategy that will defeat Islam without such a defeat being outspoken. Eventually, Saudi Arabia will fall to American power if this strategy is going to succeed.

The defeat or transformation of a world religion is no easy task. Our ultimate strategy may have to be geographical containment and national limitations imposed upon the number of Muslims living in the United States. I suppose this is an unconscious fear many European politicians have as well. In some countries like France, Muslims make up a significant part of the population. Thus, many Europeans prefer to do nothing. Yet doing nothing will not avail because the Muslim world is on the move and they will act out their resentment and dislike of the West no matter what we do. “Why can't we all get along?” will seem a naive question when the first terrorist A-bomb explodes in some western city. We can't get along because under present historical conditions some ways of life are mutually exclusive. This is why there are nations and why mighty nations have well guarded borders.

By defining our national crisis as a war with Islam we go a long way to assessing our foreign and domestic policies. Furthermore, we will have to deal with nagging problems like our porous borders, the crisis in American education and corporations, and the decay of our national culture. Needless to say, these problems will engender a debate about just what it means to be an American. This is something the patriotic working class has been expecting for a long time. Many in the American working class have strong religious values, and have watched with dismay the abuses of Affirmative Action and greedy corporate executives. The working class is patriotic to a fault and is disappointed that the American dream has been stretched thin abroad and abused at home. Their unrecognized sacrifice and patriotism makes one wonder if the “new America,” with its class of wealthy transnationals, Affirmative Action bureaucrats, self-serving politicians, incestuous corporate boards, illegal immigrants and alienated youth can survive the conflict to come. When a country’s values become as porous as its borders, who can stop the storm of true believers from invading. A screen may stop the flies, but not the wind.

Only a foreign and domestic policy that recognizes the coming war with Islam can make a difference in our national security and prosperity. “Yet how can this be?” many politicians ask. Have we not succeed in excluding religion from our debates and have we not created a multicultural world where religion is marginal at best? Must we open again the can or worms that is religious strife? Look what happened in Europe during the hundred years wars. These questions, are all important, but they miss the point. The point is that Islam has a history of conflict with the West for over a thousand years and the actions of Al-Qaeda are nothing more than a continuing unfolding of what has been going on for a long time. Modernism and globalization has done nothing more than lengthen the arm and the reason by which militant Islam can strike out against the West. The United states was sooner or later going to come up against this problem with Islam. Because we have projected our culture around the world, it is little wonder that our way of life has come up against an alternative way of life that cannot be swayed by our materialism. This is why the Democrat’s policy of only going after Al-Qaeda will not work. Al-Qaeda is not one of those rootless ferns that grows on air, but the flower of a plant that has both branch and root in a wide and international Islamic culture. Unless we go to the root of the problem, we will suffer the bloom of numberless blossoms of terror. Today it is Al-Qaeda but tomorrow it will be another group born from the soil of Islam. The very nature of Islam has to change before we are free from this struggle. If that change is culturally impossible, then we have to draw our borders clearly, define our national objectives, and secure an understanding of American citizenship. Seeing even farther ahead, we must be prepared as a nation to confront the growing Confusian-Islamic alliance about which Samuel P. Huntington warns us. If not, then will a new Sennacherib come down like a wolf upon the fold. __________

"In which Muslim country can a Christian safely stand on a street corner and preach that Mohammod was a false prophet, and that the only salvation comes through Jesus Christ?"

You mean, in which country can an individual stand in a street corner, and insult the prevailing religion without fear of repercussions by the true believers?

Why do you feel compelled to introduce the message of the love of Christ in a way that would first turn your target audience off?

Let's try your approach in a different setting.

Let's say that we are going to try converting a whole bunch of Hindus to Christianity. The way we're going to do this is by standing on a street corner in New Delhi, and shouting out to the gathered masses that they are a bunch of cow-worshipping, Khali-buggering heathens, and that they better come to Jesus or else.

You think we'll see a lot of conversions?

Do we worship the same god?

By Tony W. Cartledge
BR Editor
Do Christians and Muslims worship the same God? The issue came to the fore recently when NBC News reported that popular evangelist Franklin Graham, founder of Samaritan's Purse, had described Islam as "wicked, violent and not of the same god."

According to Baptist Press (BP), Graham made the comments in October, during an interview following the dedication of a chapel in Wilkesboro. NBC News contacted Graham for confirmation and broadcast the remarks on Nov. 16, the first day of Ramadan, a month-long period that Muslims consider the holiest season of the year. Graham noted that people of the Islamic faith carried out the Sept. 11 attacks. "I don't believe this is a wonderful, peaceful religion," Graham said.

A firestorm of protest ensued, of course - not only from the Muslim community, but even from the White House. A spokesman for the president distanced President Bush from Graham's remarks, saying that the president "views Islam as a religion that preaches peace."

Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, also stated recently that neither Muslims nor Jews worship the same God that Christians worship.

In an Oct. 17 chapel message covered by BP and the Kentucky Western Recorder, Mohler said Jews have rejected Christ and Muslims have replaced the God of the Bible with Allah. Mohler noted that his observation "is so politically incorrect," but said the church must speak a clear message that the Christian God is the only God. "We must be clear that to reject Jesus Christ is to reject the Father," he said.

So what are we to say? Do Muslims or even Jews worship the same god that Christians worship, or not?

The answer may have as much to do with semantics as with theology, but semantics are important.

In essence, the religion of Islam began in 610 A.D. when a man named Mohammed became convinced that the polytheism practiced by the Arabian tribes was wrong, and that only one god should be worshiped. Mohammed believed the angel Gabriel revealed this to him, and preached the message widely, teaching his followers the "revelations" from Gabriel that were collected and preserved as the Qur'an.

"Allah" is a poetic form of the Arabic al illah, meaning "the god." Mohammed took an incipient belief in a supreme god and promoted Allah as the only god.

Mohammed and his followers identified Allah as the god of the Old Testament, consider Abraham to be their spiritual ancestor, and revere the biblical prophets.

Muslims also consider Jesus to be a miracle-working prophet who was born of a virgin. They consider it heresy, however, to claim that Jesus is the Son of God, and reject all notions of the Trinity.

Islamic arguments against Christianity typically assert that Christians worship three gods and thus show infidelity to the one god.

The core of Islamic faith is expressed in the shahadah, sometimes translated as "There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet." Some English-speaking Muslims translate "There is no god but God."

Jews and Christians have more commonality in belief, and clearly refer to the same deity when we say "God." Christians believe, however, that God's self-revelation does not stop with the Old Testament but is fulfilled in the New Testament.

Whether one prefers to say that Muslims, Jews and Christians believe in different gods, as opposed to differing views of the same god, is largely a matter of semantics. From a Christian perspective, anyone who does not accept the full revelation of God through the saving work of Christ and the sustaining presence of the Holy Spirit has only a partial understanding of God.

Thus, Christians might argue that Muslims or Jews worship "a different god" because we believe their concept of God is incomplete. It is perhaps more appropriate, however, to think of Muslims and Jews as worshiping the same god, though not in His fullness.

Why does it matter? Our terminology can impact the effectiveness of our witness to any who do not accept Christ. It is essential that we keep channels of communication open by showing respect for people of other faiths, even if we believe their view of God is inadequate. Explaining Christ as the saving fulfillment and ultimate revelation of the same god is a natural and effective means of sharing our faith with Muslims and Jews. Insisting that they worship a different god altogether is bound to be counter-productive.

It is possible to be tactful in our speech without compromising our witness.

Will there be a matinee showing of filmed abortions performed here in the US?

I figure that in many, many aspects, we are as bloody as Muslims.

They don't behead 1.5 million women in a year, do they?

We murder that many babies yearly.

That's funny.

You have no problem condemning the entire Islamic world based on a video of one Muslim beheading a woman, or based on the actions of terrorists. But the moment that the very same broad brush approaches you, you refuse to allow anyone to blame you for the actions of others, and will not allow me to crush you under the same sort of generalizations that you have been making in this thread all day long.

What kind of people are WE?

WE are a CHRISTIAN nation where 1.5 million babies are murdered yearly.

Or are you saying that the above statement is not true?

Checkmate.

You did make the warning clear. My curiosity got the best of me. Seeing someone die with a boot on their head and a knife to their throat is traumatic. I pray for that soldier, whoever he was.

I know the topic of the thread is to what extent we are at war with an entire ideology. I refuse to characterize Islam as simply a religion, because there are too many elements of governance and dominance intertwined with it to separate them. And I have seen too many Muslims talking about dominating the world to believe that their goals are innocuous. The barbarity Muslims embrace as a central component of their culture is something more advanced cultures have a hard time even acknowledging. Lastly, in the numbers game, even if only a small fraction of Muslims are fanatics, then we still have a huge problem, numbers-wise. Combine these numbers with the generally accepted aspects of Islam that allow for deceit of the 'enemy' and we have a potential for harm both from the fanatics and the 'Trojan horse moderates'.

When the 'moderate' Muslims become the worst nightmare of the Islamists by not only condemning them but by actively defying them, then I will start to consider that they are not all a part of the same irrational death cult. Until then, it seems pragmatic, albeit potentially unfair, to consider Islam as the enemy, and all adherents as either directly deadly, or enablers.

In the United States, anybody may stand on a street corner and say whatever they want about Jesus, with a high degree of safety. The prevailing culture is such that he will have a low fear of being assaulted by private citizens, and a high expectation that the police will protect him from being assaulted as a result of his exercising his rights under the First Amendment. If the police decline to protect him, he can bring in the feds, and can sue for enough to make himself wealthy

Let's contrast this with the likely outcome in most Islamic countries, shall we? In Pakistan , blasphemy laws call for the death penalty against anyone found guilty of insulting Islam. Egypt is a little more liberal -- you may just get three years in prison for insulting Islam. Let's not forget the Iranian fatwa against Mr Rushdie for his book.

Do I really need to contine?

WE are a CHRISTIAN nation where 1.5 million babies are murdered yearly.

We are a nation where the majority is Christian, where babies are aborted IN DEFIANCE of the Christian precepts

Contrast this where bloody horror is conducted because it is MANDATED by Islam.

None will say it because it is not true. The author suffers from the very thing he is complaining about, the need for a clear enemy. To declare war on Islam would be much simpler and make separating the good from the bad a moot point. But Islam is not our enemy even though most of our enemies (at least the threatening ones) are Islamic. RACIST ALERT. If a redneck white boy from the South thinks the author a racist, he most likely is.
Technically he's not a racist, he's a religious bigot. Otherwise the point is correct. The heirs of R. J. Rushdoony, Fred Phelps, Eric Rudolph, Matthew Hale...they all claim to act in the name of Christianity. This does not mean that those who would oppose and fight them are against Christianity, or that their declared enemies are those of Christianity as a whole.

In addition, declaring Islam to be our enemy means declaring war on about a billion people who are not our enemies, including some of our allies in our actions against Iraq, In other words it would not only be wrong, it would be profoundly stupid.

There are close to ten million American Muslims. There have been Muslims in America since 1790. How have they managed NOT to wage war on the US?

When you are weak, take advantage of the protections of the society you live in, and work on growing more powerful

When you are stronger, start demanding to be accomodated by those around you. Demand they cease doing things that "offend" you, and create trouble for those that criticise you

When you are in control, liquidate those who oppose you, and terrorise the rest

American Muslims were in stage I, are now in stage II, and dream of stage III.

What stage are Turkish Muslims at? How about Indonesian Muslims?

Interesting to note that the people most interested in starting a world-wide religious war between Christendom and Islam, are Muslim extremist terrorists.

To accomplish this, they spend their time spreading lies and misinformation...sort of like your post.

Well said.

Believe me. I am no fan of Islam.
But these people trying to instigate religious war... on BOTH sides, don't know what they are doing.

"American Muslims were in stage I, are now in stage II, and dream of stage III."

Bush Praises Islam For It's Morality

Twenty-Year Plan for USA: Islam Targets America

PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ITEM #8.

The True Furqan can be located on HERE or HERE

The following is Dr. Shorrosh's analysis of Islamic invasion of America, the agenda of Islamists and visible methods to take over America by the year 2020! Will Americans continue to sleep through this invasion as they did when we were attacked on 9/11?

1. Terminate America's freedom of speech by replacing it with hate crime bills state-wide and nation-wide.

2. Wage a war of words using black leaders like Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Jesse Jackson and other visible religious personalities to promote Islam as the original African-American's religion while Christianity is for the whites! Strange enough, no one tells the African-Americans that it was the Arab Muslims who captured them and sold them as slaves, neither the fact that in Arabic the word for black and slave is the same, "Abed."

3. Engage the American public in dialogues, discussions, debates in colleges, universities, public libraries, radio, TV, churches and mosques on the virtues of Islam. Proclaim how it is historically another religion like Judaism and Christianity with the same monotheistic faith.

4. Nominate Muslim sympathizers to political office for favorable legislation to Islam and support potential sympathizers by block voting.

5. Take control of as much of Hollywood, the press, TV, radio and the internet by buying the corporations or a controlling stock.

6. Yield to the fear of imminent shut-off of the lifeblood of America - the black gold. America's economy depends on oil,1000 products are derived from oil), so does its personal and industrial transportation and manufacturing -41% comes from the Middle East.

7. Yell, "foul, out-of-context, personal interpretation, hate crime, Zionist, un-American, inaccurate interpretation of the Quran" time Islam is criticized or the Quran is analyzed in the public arena.

8. Encourage Muslims to penetrate the White House, specifically with Islamists who can articulate a marvelous and peaceful picture of Islam. Acquire government positions, get membership in local school boards. Train Muslims as medical doctors to dominate the medical field, research and pharmaceutical companies. Take over the computer industry. Establish Middle Eastern restaurants throughout the U.S. to connect planners of Islamization in a discreet way.

Ever notice how numerous Muslim doctors in America are, when their countries need them more desperately than America?

9. Accelerate Islamic demographic growth via:

a. Massive immigration (100,000 annually since 1961)

b. No birth control whatsoever - every baby of Muslim parents is automatically a Muslim and cannot choose another religion later.

c. Muslim men must marry American women and Islamize them (10,000 annually). Then divorce them and remarry every five years - since one cannot have the Muslim legal permission to marry four at one time. This is a legal solution in America.

d. Convert angry, alienated black inmates and turn them into militants (so far 2000 released inmates have joined Al Qaida world-wide). Only a few have been captured in Afghanistan and on American soil. So far - sleeping cells!

10. Reading, writing, arithmetic and research through the American educational system, mosques and student centers (now 1500) should be sprinkled with dislike of Jews, evangelical Christians and democracy. There are 300 exclusively Muslim schools with loyalty to the Quran, not the U.S. Constitution.

11. Provide very sizeable monetary Muslim grants to colleges and universities in America to establish "Centers for Islamic studies" with Muslim directors to promote Islam in higher education institutions.

12. Let the entire world know through propaganda, speeches, seminars, local and national media that terrorists have hijacked Islam, not the truth, which is Islam hijacked the terrorists. Furthermore in January of 2002, Saudi Arabia's Embassy in Washington mailed 4500 packets of the Quran, videos, promoting Islam to America's high schools--free. They would never allow us to reciprocate.

13. Appeal to the historically compassionate and sensitive Americans for sympathy and tolerance towards the Muslims in America who are portrayed as mainly immigrants from oppressed countries.

14. Nullify America's sense of security by manipulating the intelligence community with misinformation. Periodically terrorize Americans of impending attacks on bridges, tunnels, water supplies, airports, apartment buildings and malls. (We have experienced this too often since 9-11.) 15. Form riots and demonstrations in the prison system demanding Islamic Sharia as the way of life, not American's justice system.

16. Open numerous charities throughout the U.S. but use the funds to support Islamic terrorism with American dollars.

17. Raise interest in Islam on America's campuses by insisting that freshman take at least one course on Islam. Be sure that the writer is a bonafide American, Christian, scholarly and able to cover up the violence in the Quran and express the peaceful, spiritual and religious aspect only.

18. Unify the numerous Muslim lobbies in Washington, mosques, Islamic student centers, educational organizations, magazines and papers by internet and an annual convention to coordinate plans, propagate the faith and engender news in the media of their visibility.

19. Send intimidating messages and messengers to the outspoken individuals who are critical of Islam and seek to eliminate them by hook or crook.

20. Applaud Muslims as loyal citizens of the US by spotlighting their voting record as the highest percentage of all minority and ethic groups in America.

We are a nation where the majority is Christian, where babies are aborted IN DEFIANCE of the Christian precepts

Contrast this where bloody horror is conducted because it is MANDATED by Islam.

I'm sure this distinction can really be appreciated by the millions of murdered babies..... who number more than all humans killed in every modern war put together.

Besides, God judges and holds the church responsible first, above and beyond those who don't know the truth, such a Muslims.

If there is a God, and he does not change, is a righteous God, and deals with sin the same in every generation, how can He overlook the abortion issue?

He can't and He doesn't.

Then again, the boy could just be a liberal, addicted to politically correct and terminal butt kissyitis, pretending to be a redneck boy from the south.

Now we're starting to split hairs. Now you refuse to find the many guilty of the crimes committed by the few.

But you're still applying the double standard to Muslims I see.

Put up those "mandates" Sauron, let's see them, and tell me about how all 1 billion Muslims are carrying on "bloody horror" for their religion.

If many Christians are murdering babies in defiance of the Christian precepts, then I say to you that many Muslims MUST be NOT conducting bloody horrors in the name of Islam, or the world would be a whole lot bloodier place than it is today.

Religions are distorted, bastardized, and used to inflame the hearts of the believers, and to manipulate them. That’s what’s going on with Islam today, and from the look of a lot of the posts on this forum, we are doing our fair share of it.

Now, let’s see those mandates.

The problem with Islam, is that it is a religion with a prophet, but without a Saviour.

I agree, but the real problem with Islam is that their prophet was militant and intolerant. He recognized that other religions existed before his, but steadfastly maintained that his religion replaced them and that his followers should enforce this belief with violent means. This position cannot stand in a world with so many beliefs.
