Pro-US Forces Korea/Pro-America Rally to Be Held Saturday
by Kim Seong-hyun (danpa@chosun.com)
The 57 representatives of the March 1 Independence Movement Memorial Committee including president of the Korea-America Friendship Society Park Keun, former army chief of staff Baik Sun-yeop, and president of the Korean Veterans Association Lee Sang-hoon held a press conference on Monday to announce plans on holding a rally in front of the [Seoul, Korea] City Hall on March 1, 2003 at noon. The rally will focus on the anti-nuclear and anti-Kim Jong Il sentiment, free unification, and opposing the withdrawal of the United States Forces Korea.
The committee claim that about a million people will participate in the rally, as members of religious organizations such as the Gwangrim Church, Geumran Methodist Church, Galbori Church, Anyang Holiness Church, Hansarang Mission, Catholic Little Jesus Society, and the Korean Buddhist Society will attend.
It also stated that the incoming Roh Moo-hyun administration must make sure to express its opposition to the downsizing or relocating of the USFK. The committee pointed out that minority agitators with anti-US sentiment could negatively influence both the Korea-US alliance as well as the national interest.
The committee will deliver a public letter to US President George W. Bush stating its full support for the Bush administration's North Korea policy. The letter will also include requests to rethink the relocation of the US Forces Korea and continuing the Korea-US alliance.

Sounds great. If you actually get a Million there, you should call it the "Twenty Million Man March".

The anti-US demonstrations in S. Korea of late have been evaporating overnight (no wonder!). And the pro-US folks, who have always been there (akin to bedrock, pro-US Americans) are finally taking some time off, getting bold, and turning out publicly to counter the scumbag communists and appeasers. Hoorah! :-)
They will probably turn it into a reason to throw rocks and riot against the new, appeasement S. Korean regime of Roh Mu Hyon, which takes office in about 10 hours. Anything for a good time!

Liberal S. Korean news media will always over estimate the anti-US, pro-Chuche crowd, and they will underestimate and curb reporting on the pro-US people that turn out. Sound familiar?

How much are tickets to Korea? I need a vacation

You know, noticed that too. Around a two months ago or so they had a big turn out by anti-American protesters about the girls getting run over by the tank, reported repeatedly by the Japanese media. Then about a week later or so they had a HUGE turn out by pro-American protesters, and not even a whimper from the Japanese media. I heard about it on Free Republic. My guess is that the anti-American groups are all the internet news kids, and the pros are their parents.

This is a little scary. What a tempting target they will be.Apparently all of Seoul is well within range of N. Korean guns and missiles so it's a pretty tempting target whether people are out in the streets or not.

$600/$700 max round trip if you go to a cheap shop, departure US west or east coast.
Once you get there, you will have no shortage of choices of places to stay ranging in all kinds of prices.
Really, why not come to an East Asia, one million person, anti communist "Freep the New South Korean President" rally?

It doesn't hurt that "Choson Ilbo" is the more conservative of the several Korean dailies.

Here is the website for the BIG South Korean PRO-US Demonstration planned on the same day as Freeper Demonstrations in the USA: March 1st.
It is in Korean, but the entering graphic is cool. Shows a very large Pro US demonstration in the front of City Hall (anothe one), then shows a huge mushroom cloud, and ends with the characters for "ANTI-NUCLEAR, ANTI-KIM JONG IL" (Pan Haek, Pan Kim).
The site: http://www.savekorea.net/
They are very organized, are using the internet to rally people to turn out, and have pages to post personal opinion.
