We must counter the "Virtual March" on washington. Here is one possible way of doing so.

Posted on 02/20/2003 7:27:55 AM PST by Michaelman

Martin Sheen and other actors have launced a major campaign. On February 26th, every Senate office will receive a call every minute from a constituent, as they receive a simultaneous flood of faxes and e-mail. Hundreds of thousands of people from across the country will send the collective message: Don't Attack Iraq.

We must counter that by using the resouces they provide. The organizations is using the website called www.truemajority.com. I went to this site to see how they plan on carrying this mission out. Basically, they have a page where you give your personal information and then send. But, there is a message that is provided that you can change. This is what I did.

The message contains statements like, "It appears that the Administration is looking for an excuse to go to war, when a peaceful and just solution may be at hand." Yes, we all know that peace is the only way to bring down Saddam. Right!

So just do a little editing of that statement to read something like this, " Saddam Hussain has had 12 years to comply, his time is up and I completely support the President's initiatives to topple his regime. I believe that Saddam will never comply, and that he poses a great threat to the world".

You know, you can put what ever you want in the message box. Just make sure they are reasonable comments.

Anyway, I hope that this will work. If anybody else has any more ideas, they would be welcomed.

I tried to find the email address for moveon.org, which is organizing this event, but failed to do so. I was think that on the date we could flood the email systems. Give it to them, like they are giving it to washington.

I hope this helps.

I have a better way, which I'll post on a separate thread.

"I still haven't made up my mind about you. you seem sincere,(and if you are -- Welcome!)

I put Michaelman through my BS filter and he passed. I like what he/she is saying.

Welcome Michaelman.

I have to say that you are standing up quite well to all the critics!
When there is a disruptor, it is usually a 'hit and run' a sneaky slam/dunk -- followed by expulsion. You didn't. You have patiently tried to explain your point without flaming anyone, and your heart, as I said before seems sincere.

I guess for me, it was simply the words "giving personal information" to the other camp, that bothered me. The rest of your commentary has been fine.

Despite this bumpy start, I hope you find FR.com a place for good dialogue. I'm glad you came. There's lots of talent here, and you'll fit right in. Actually, your idea of using the other camp as a means to dilute them is interesting. It's a different slant and intriguing.

(also, when you get a pass from A Great Per, you must be OK!)

Intervention! Ahem. As I understand it the pro-sadamn types want to completely tie up DC phone/faxes. If we try to counter that we only add to the effectiveness of their ploy.

I recommend we ignore the sumbitches and if you're panties are in a series wad send a snail mail to your reps - far more likely to make an impression in DC.

And yes I think a troll is about - who me? no no honest!

Sometimes I tend to jump the gun. In order to launch a counter offensive against these hollywood tossers, we need to set up our own campaign. That will take time and resources. I don't know alot about web design, because if I did I would set up my own website. Unfortunatly I don't have a couple of mil to use on a TV commercial either. So, what to do...

I figure this is the best place to get to support for something like this, we just need a solid plan. We need to figure out the best way to get the jump on these hollywood trolls.

The first question I would have, do we launch our campaign before their campaign, or after?

Which would be more effective? Or do we just start writing our senators right now?

Perhaps, we could just bombard the moveon.org offices with phone calls and emails? But, it would take quite a bit of people to make it effective. It would also have to be a planned attack, so that all emails and phone calls happened at the same time.

We could do it the day before their little virtual march.

What do you people think?

I just found out as well that moveon.org has set up meet-ups to pass out leafelets in and around your area.

the website is:

http://www.moveon.org/leaflets/

Perhaps there is a way we can throw a damper on this parade?

we could go to where ever they go and pass out our own leaflets. I can make the leaflets and then put it online in pdf form to print out. I am a graphic designer.

also, you can use the site to create your own meet-up, except ours won't be anti-war.

I totally agree with you. This sounds very fishy. Why would conservatives even consider falling for this? Michael, I think you're a scam-man.

Searching yesterday, I found a site that lists many of the emails of the organizations supporting the "we're too lazy to actually get up and march" on Washington:

http://www.adamyoshida.com/electronic.html

Not only do they list several emails, but also downloadable files to attempt to jam up the mailboxes of these organizations.
