ALERT! FBI looking for truck that passed through Colorado!
9 News Denver ^ | 2-14-03 | Chris Vanderveen

DENVER - Concern among members of the FBI’s Joint Terrorist Task Force has surfaced in Colorado. A semi-truck driving through the state on Thursday afternoon apparently triggered a nationwide alert going out to law enforcement agencies across the state Friday night.

Only a few specifics of the alert were released. Apparently, it stems from what happened at a Sinclair gas station in Byers around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Byers is about 40 miles east of Denver on I-70.

Two men described as Middle Eastern in an 18-wheeler with a white tractor truck apparently tried to put unleaded gasoline into the truck. An attendant advised them it would not work and told them they needed to use diesel.

The men fueled up with the correct gas, paid in cash and left on Highway 36, which would connect them to I-80 in northeastern Colorado.

The truck has a Quebec, Canada, license plate number RS7-116. The name on the truck is Real Transport.

Authorities ran a check on the license plate and said it was clear, but it does not have a current registration.

The FBI sent out the alert shortly before 5 p.m. Friday. It advises law enforcement officers that if the semi is contacted to identify the occupants and determine if there is a current registration available.

If the FBI has any other reason to be worried about the semi, it's not saying.

There’s no confirmation that this is tied into any possible terrorism, but with the country on high alert, no one wants to take any chances.

"Hey, we're from Oregon and never pump our own gas! We always just say 'Fill it up!' and the attendant takes care of the details...!"

"..Two men described as Middle Eastern in an 18-wheeler with a white tractor truck apparently tried to put unleaded gasoline into the truck."

Hmmm...? Probably just a bit dizzy from all of the radiation leaking leaking into the cab from the trailer...

I sure haven't seen this before Randall. The only alert I have seen is this one (listed here) and to my knowledge, they have not found the boric acid.
***SACBEE.com - SACRAMENTO BEE (AP): "TRUCK WITH BORIC ACID STOLEN FROM RIVERSIDE" (ARTICLE NOTE: 44,000 pounds of "powdered boric acid" was stolen.) (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Stofila said the green, 1996 Freightliner truck with California license plate 9B89830 was likely stolen between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday. He said it was parked in Corona at the intersection of Bonnie Circle and Pomona Road, off of Route 91, the major highway connecting Riverside and Orange counties. The flatbed trailer carrying the acid had Oregon plates HQ57530.") (February 8, 2003)

tried to put unleaded gasoline into the truck

Sounds ominous like the flying lessons that didn't need to learn take off or landing procedures.

With Quebec plates, it is difficult to believe these two have been driving the truck all that distance before needing a refill.

I literally thank God that it seems so many of these terrorists are SO STUPID. (And pray that the names of the smart ones are found in their address books.)

The DC snipers taking a nap in the rest stop.

The two Middle East guys with thick accents wanting to buy a crop duster and take flying lessons.

The group of terrorists from Portland observed shooting at a rural gravel pit wearing their robes and turbans. ("If they had been wearing flannel I wouldn't have given them a second thought" said the Sheriff). (They were put on surveillance and led to even more arrests! They tried to get into Afghanistan to help fight the U.S.)

I guess we can assume that they didn't go to a truckers school and that any permits/certifications/truckers licenses they have are fake.

Too bad the guy told them they needed diesel. Even if the guys took off on foot before the police got there, the LEOs would have had the truck and most likely some prints...

The truck has a Quebec, Canada, license plate number RS7- 116. The name on the truck is Real Transport. And is filled with all the remaining duct tape and sheets of plastic. If you see this truck do not approach, suspects could be adhesive and sticky, contact your local police department.

If the FBI has any other reason to be worried about the semi, it's not saying.

I think I know the reason.

About a year ago, the US installed radiation detectors
at the US Canadian border.

Before the detection system was fully operational
it did detect radiation from an 18 wheeler truck
passing through
(at Detroit, I believe)
but the alarm system did not go off.

Authorities have been searching desperately for this truck ever since.

(My source for this story is Andrew Krystal,
who has contacts with CSIS (the Canadian 'CIA')
and has reported frequently
on this not well publicised story
on WABC, New York)

I wouldn't think the boric acid itself could be much of a problem.

In powder form you can spread it around to kill roaches but it's even been used for preserving food, being used like salt,in the past.

In powder form, could it be used as a substitute for saltpeter?

Uh oh. "Fellow shipmates?" I understand 'shipmates' and I understand 'fellows'. I'm a bit concerned when they are (used) together.

It don't rust, bust or collect dust. It fails-safe and drains to the bilge. There's air in the banks and shot in the tanks. Two big ones and two little ones. All ahead full goin' that'a way, boring holes in the ocean.

Many semi rigs can make well over a thousand miles before needing fuel.
