Two men described as Middle Eastern in an 18-wheeler with a white tractor truck apparently tried to put unleaded gasoline into the truck. An attendant advised them it would not work and told them they needed to use diesel.

"Hey, we're from Oregon and never pump our own gas! We always just say 'Fill it up!' and the attendant takes care of the details...!"

tried to put unleaded gasoline into the truck

Sounds ominous like the flying lessons that didn't need to learn take off or landing procedures.

With Quebec plates, it is difficult to believe these two have been driving the truck all that distance before needing a refill.

If the FBI has any other reason to be worried about the semi, it's not saying.

I think I know the reason.

About a year ago, the US installed radiation detectors
at the US Canadian border.

Before the detection system was fully operational
it did detect radiation from an 18 wheeler truck
passing through
(at Detroit, I believe)
but the alarm system did not go off.

Authorities have been searching desperately for this truck ever since.

(My source for this story is Andrew Krystal,
who has contacts with CSIS (the Canadian 'CIA')
and has reported frequently
on this not well publicised story
on WABC, New York)

boric acid

any one of the three chemical compounds, orthoboric (or boracic) acid, metaboric acid, and tetraboric (or pyroboric) acid; the term often refers simply to orthoboric acid. The acids may be thought of as hydrates of boric oxide, B2O3. Orthoboric acid, H3BO3 or B2O3·3H2O, is colorless, weakly acidic, and forms triclinic crystals. It is fairly soluble in boiling water (about 27% by weight) but less so in cold water (about 6% by weight at room temperature). When orthoboric acid is heated above 170°C it dehydrates, forming metaboric acid, HBO2 or B2O3·H2O. Metaboric acid is a white, cubic crystalline solid and is only slightly soluble in water. It melts at about 236°C, and when heated above about 300°C further dehydrates, forming tetraboric acid, H4B4O7 or B2O3·H2O.

Tetraboric acid is either a vitreous solid or a white powder and is water soluble. When tetraboric or metaboric acid is dissolved it reverts largely to orthoboric acid. The major uses of the boric acids are in forming other boron compounds and in borate salts, e.g., borax. A dilute water solution of boric acid is commonly used as a mild antiseptic and eyewash. Boric acid is also used in leather manufacture, electroplating, and cosmetics. Boric acid can be crystallized from an acidified borax solution.

It occurs as the mineral sassolite in the Tuscan region of Italy, where it is also recovered from hot springs and vapors. In the United States boric acid is recovered from brines from Searles Lake in California.

Mistake at gas station prompts alert

BYERS, Colo. (AP) - Police were on the lookout for a tractor-trailer with expired Canadian plates after two men attempted to fill it up with unleaded gasoline, instead of diesel fuel, the Colorado State Patrol said Friday.

The report is one of many law enforcement officials have received in the past week since the federal government increased its terrorism alert to orange, or high, the second-highest level, said Sgt. Craig LaVere, a patrol spokesman.

The men, who appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, stopped at a gas station Thursday in this small town off of Interstate 70, about 30 miles east of Denver. After the clerk alerted the men to their mistake, they fueled the truck with diesel, paid with cash and headed east on U.S. 36.

''It was kind of out of place, to make that kind of mistake,'' LaVere said. ''A professional truck driver is not going to put that kind of fuel in their truck.

''Because of the heightened awareness, people are noticing things that don't seem right,'' he said.

The white truck has the words ''Real Transport'' painted on the side. Police want to question the men about the registration.

ROFL check this out: FBI take a look at the photo, I had my window sized smaller and this part of the text appeared right under it 'possible threat picture'.

It's early...

"A semi-truck driving through the state on Thursday afternoon apparently triggered a nationwide alert going out to law enforcement agencies across the state Friday night."

Over a 24 hour delay getting the word out?

If I was at the gas station, I would have let the morons fuel up with nolead and called the Highway Patrol and told them to look for a white semi with a blown engine.

If nothing else, the plume of boric acid would have helped direct authorities to the location! :-O

FBI looking for truck that passed through Colorado!

Call Hans Blix! He is confident that his inspectors can find Saddam's mobile labs and weapons, this truck should be a piece of cake for the Kraut to locate, what with the description and no interference from "handlers" and what not.

I am truly shocked that they said "Middle Eastern Men" in the article. Lately, seems like the sensitivity of racial profiling has resumed...

The other thing that nobody has mentioned is how many truck drivers carry enough cash around on them to fill up their trucks? Don't most use credit cards or something? Sounds to me they were trying not to leave a trail.

Fascinating.

I-80 would take them to/through Omaha, Des Moines, Chicago, Cleveland and New York City. However, from Chicago (as everyone can figure), all bets are off.

Thanks for the heads up! I will keep my eyes open and my cell phone handy.

Here is a funny story about unleaded gasoline:

I used to be a professional taxidermist. We used a gasoline solution to take the water out of bird skins after we washed them. It consisted of 5 gallons of unleaded gasoline, 1 quart of solvent alcohol, and 1 pint of turpentine. I used to keep it in a gas can rack on the back of my truck.
One night I went out with my friends to a local bar, when we left I noticed the top of the gas can was off. There were 2 sets of motorcycle tracks leading up to the back of my truck and a piece of garden hose laying on the ground. The gas can was empty! I'll bet that motorcycles don't run very well on solvent alcohol and turpentine!! LOL!!
All the Best!

It advises law enforcement officers that if the semi is contacted to identify the occupants and determine if there is a current registration available.

I hope they are a bit more rigourous in their investigation of these guys when/if caught. This sounds like Barney Fife---"Ok, boys, your registration is current, now y'all have a NICE day, y'hear."

It would, however, be pretty unfair to profile these guys just because a) they are driving a diesel truck but don't know what kind of fuel to use, b) terrorists are known to use trucks in terrorist acts, and c) they fit the description of the 100 million or so mohams worldwide who hate our a$$es and have taken religious vows to commit genocide to exterminate us.

The men fueled up with the correct gas, paid in cash and left on Highway 36, which would connect them to I-80 in northeastern Colorado.

Ummm....no. That'd be I-76. I-80 doesn't go into Colorado. Nor, to the best of my knowledge, does U.S. 36 intersect with I-80.

so how much unleaded in the tank mixed with diesel would it take to blow the heads off (the engine)?

Too bad the guy stopped them from filling up with gasoline. That would have shut them down.
