A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Happy Valentine's Day - Love FReeper Style
We all know that FReepers are passionate, emotional human beings. Just attend a FReep sometime and watch some of us in action. Our feelings run wide and deep regarding all things conservative, without a doubt.
Does our passion burn as brightly when it comes to expressing our love for those that mean the most of us? I think Valentine's Day is a great way to find out.
I'd like to begin by expressing my love for someone who is near and dear to my heart. There is someone who is so much a part of me that I can't imagine being without him. He is as vital to me as the air I breathe.
His name?
.45MAN
.45MAN asked that I not "do a profile" on him and I respect his wishes. I will, however, share with you what he means to me.
I met .45MAN 6 years ago when I was at my lowest spiritually. He was a gift from God, another chance given to me get my life together and to do something constructive with it.
Since then, .45MAN has allowed me to blossom as a person. Whereas before I was always thinking and doing things to please others, he allowed me to express my true self. Because of this, I found my religious and conservative roots. I have never looked back.
.45MAN is a defender of the Catholic faith. He can be found on various religious threads and is there not to mock anyone else's beliefs, but rather to defend his. He is also a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and was instrumental in cultivating my interest in gun ownership.
I'd like to share the words from my favorite song by Bonnie Raitt. They are the perfect sentiments to express to my Valentine, .45MAN:
"You"
(Written by Bob Thiele jr Tonio K and John Shanks) Copyright 1993 WB Music Corp
Nobody else could make me happy No one could hurt me like you do You were the only one That mattered
Then you were gone...Love had moved on Left me alone thinking of...
You...There was never any other You...and I were created to be true
Isn't it Love that keeps us breathing Isn't it love we're sent here for Wasn't that love that we were feeling (That was something baby)
Deep in our soul...Deeper than we know Keeping me holding out for
You...There was never any question You'll be forever on my mind
You and I, we were meant to be together True hearts in a world where love is dyin'
And I might as well have been dyin' when We were apart When you came back I felt the beating of my heart
You...There was never any question You'll be forever on my mind You and I, we were meant to be together You...and only you
It was you...only you You...Always you
Happy Valentine's Day, .45MAN I Love You Always Forever, dansangel

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

No longer am I faster than a speeding bullet or leaping over tall buildings.
Not even low ones.:))
I attribute my survival in the accident to travel prayers posted here Wednesday night. God indeed protected me in a mighty way.
I was within 4 miles of home, weary from being up at 0415 - had a.m. labs drawn and afternoon appointment at the VA Medical Center in Augusta.
Found myself drifting to the left side of the road, toward a steep ditch, and did the wrong thing - yanked the wheel to the right....spun around and went tail end first into the steep ditch on the other side.
Had on my seat belt, and the air bag deployed, saving me from going through the windshield.
However, the left top side of my head shattered every bit of the driver's side window out, and the car was totalled.
It, in fact, was smoking, the hood all the way back on the windshield, etc.
Couldn't lift my right arm, and concluded it was broken, but nothing else hurt!!
A car with a couple in it stopped, and the wife tried to call my husband while another lady had stopped to call 911. Angels all around!
The 911 call is answered in the courthouse, and Leeann, recognizing my name, yelled into the next room to Jan - who happens to be my daughter's mother-in-law and our dear friend.
She picked up my husband to take him to the scene, but the ambulance had already left with me, and the car towed away.
The impact jammed 3 of the car doors, but the passenger side door opened, and they carefully immobilized my arm and secured all the neck and body areas and hauled me 45 miles to the hospital in Aiken.
The whole night I was cared for by wonderful persons, and the ortho surgeon 'happened' to be on site and his two partners able to come in to help operate.
The break was a bad one - they all thought caused by the air bag - the ulner bone (large one underneath) broken into two overlapping parts, and the large bone above it pushed out of the top socket.
By midnight I had an incision @ 8" long, steel rods and screws, and was in bed upstairs. Thank heaven for effective anesthetics!
Slept peacefully until 0700.
The bad news is it will take 2-3 month to heal - maybe longer until I can drive.
As Nan related, the good news is I can't cook! Lots of TLC gained.
Those at the scene could not understand how I survived at all, looking at the car, much less with so little injury to me.
The scalp laceration did not even require suturing, and the CT Scan revealed no damage.
(Shows how hard-headed I am...:)
I feel certain God heard the Freeper prayers, and kept me safe in the storm. I am humbly thankful for the prayers that covered me, and for His grace, with joy in my heart.

Kept accidentally erasing whole sections - LOL - hit enter down instead of Shift....
You are so very thoughtful...maybe I can copy and paste my post there.

How terrible. Lady, I'm so sorry about your accident. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
To: SunnyUsa
Thanks, Sunny! It happened so fast, I never was afraid, sitting there in disbelief, blood streaming down and smoke rising.
The fire truck came, but it never did ignite.
It was awesome that He kept me essentially intact.....
