"the country club?" If Bill Clinton's a member, his radioactiveness will rub off on ALL associated with said "country club"...and the EffeteElite aren't about to allow Slick Willie to bring them down WITH his sorry arse, IMHO, and they will jettison him at a convenient point in the process. Remember, Slick's just a hayseed half-breed bastard-child PUNK nobody from Little Rock, ARK, and he's screwed the RATS over big-time!!!!!
Slick Willie ain't nuthin' special to the powers-that-be...the Lib'rally Self-Annointed Caste only use him as a PosterChildferUnaccountability!!
I prefer we Use Slick Willie as a PosterChildferJUSTICE!!
Grrrr...MUD
BTW...gonna be on the road fer the next week or so, have fun in my abscence, but I'll be lurkin'!!

Yes, Long Beach Naval Station and the COSCO affair. Clinton tried to give the base to his Chicom buddies. Haig was involved early on. Now, I believe the whole deal fizzled because some alert CA Conservatives were able to put a stop to it. Will research from there. Thanks!

BTW...at these "book talks", can we at least smoke stogies?! Of course, if they're good cigars. No Swisher Sweets allowed! Some good Scotch to go with would be nice too.
To: sultan88
Maybe at our next luncheon, we can have a "book talk". I'm reading Woodward's book, "Bush at War" right now. So far, so good. I was afraid it was going to be very negative towards the President but so far I've been pleasantly surprised. Next on my list is "Jihad in America". Maybe one day I'll get to Sammon's book about the 2000 election, although that feels like ancient history anymore.

Well if you all are going to be smokin' & throwin' back Scotch I'd suggest that the next
meeting o'the minds be on a Sat. or Sun. (That way, I could join in on the hijinx)

"...that new book just written by the high ranking military man who carried around the nuclear football for Clintoooooon..."Is the name of the book "Dereliction of Duty"?? From what I hear, that is a blockbuster. Bet it will be hard to find at the major book outlets, as the klintons will try to suppress this one for sure.

"I'm reading Woodward's book, "Bush at War" right now. So far, so good...."Good. I thought is was supposed to be a "hit" piece on Bush. Especially when this was on display all over the local B & N: while the Savage book was "not being carried."

I was afraid it would be a hit piece too since Woodward is a shill for the Dems and works for the Washington post. But, so far, it's not been bad. It is kind of weird to read this while all the news about Iraq is bombarding us. I'm only up to the part just before Afghanistan was liberated - there's still plenty of time for Woodward to show his true colors.

Cool!!! Cigars...Books-
-Scotch & Micro-brews-
-Music, parody songs and lyrics-You guys, (and gals!) are all right. I knew there was more than one reason I liked Mud, and the Black thread regulars!
Since we're on books, I'd like to get an opinion on the following, I haven't read them:
"The Hillary Trap" by Laura Ingraham
"Slander" by Ann Coulter
"The 70's; How We Got Here" by David Frum, author of "Dead Right"
And my recommendation: "CEO Of The Sofa" by PJ O'Rourke:
An impersonation of Oliver Wendal Holmes writing style. hilarious read, with PJ's usual self-depracating humor. I loved it.
Well back to work, looking forward to more book discussion, etc...
PS: Write and/ or call your Senators, folks;
DemonRats are threatening to filibuster Bush's judicial nominee!

O'Rourke is great. He was the only worthwhile thing in Rolling Stone.
To: Formerly Brainwashed Democrat; Landru; sultan88
"...the Black thread regulars!" LOL...I like that characterization. Even Landru--whose been mysteriously missing fer months--retains his ongoing role as cynical neighbor down the street...LOL!! FWIW...Landru's not as cynical as he lets on, but a good actor plays the role he's assigned, and Landru's definitely a good actor.
