A Few Of FR's Finest....Every Day....02-03-03 Homeschool Mama...the Exclusive Interview
dansangel; Billie

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

As a journalist dedicated to uncovering the truth, I had a duty to my loyal readers to crack the nutty exterior of homeschool mama. Reclusive and at times off-centered, she agreed to a telephone interview. I warn my readers: what you are about to read may be disturbing. Lock up the kids, wait for grandma to go to bed and put the dog outside. I present to you, raw and uncut;

homeschool mama: The Exclusive Inquisitional Interview

dansangel: Why don't you give us a little background information on yourself.

homeschool mama: I was born a poor black child....oops! Wrong movie!

I was born in Illinois and moved to southern California at age ten. I'm of Serbian descent. After attending college in So Cal and majoring in business, I worked in marketing and then got into catering purely by happenstance.

homeschool mama: "1974 prom -
which is amazing since I'm only 34....yeah, right!
(That's the "unknown prom date," by the way.)"

dansangel: Were you ever mentally stable enough to get married and start a family?

homeschool mama: I met my husband when we were both twelve. We didn't get together until we were twenty-eight at our ten-year high school reunion. We married at 30 and have been married for fourteen years, now. We have one child, a daughter, who is twelve years old and *such* a delight!

homeschool mama: "What a lovely couple, eh?"

homeschool mama: "That's more like it!
That's my husband, aka 'Fidgit.'"

homeschool mama: "Our daughter, aka 'psychogirl'
at 12 and 1/2 years old."

dansangel: The three of you make an, uh, *interesting* looking family...

homeschool mama: I'm 5' 2" tall, my husband is 6' 6" and our daughter is 5' 1". I'm doomed! She may grow to be taller than me, but she will always live in *fear* of me!

dansangel: So! I'll bet you two don't spend much time together!

homeschool mama: Yes, I actually *do* homeschool my daughter...and teach Composition/Literature to 7th grade homeschool girls...and lead a homeschool fellowship...and attend a million homeschool conferences a year. LOL....I'm a homeschool junkie AND a BushBot!

homeschool mama and Fidgit while dating

dansangel: A-HA! Bush-bot! Now we're getting somewhere. So, I supposed you're one of those vast right-wing conspiracy nut-cases that hangs out on, ugh, excuse me while I catch my breath - Free Republic? I can't believe I said those filthy words out loud...

homeschool mama: As a matter of fact, my favorite Free Republic Thread is "The Dose." I don't even remember how I *found* FR - but am so thankful to Jim Robinson for beginning this website.

dansangel: Yeah, I'd like to say something to him myself, but "Thanks" is not what I had in mind. Anyway, so your involvement, I hope, is strictly to sit at home and read that cesspool of right-wing ideology?

homeschool mama: I have been involved in two FReeps - one in Modesto (Condidit's Office) and one at the State Capital during the election fiasco.

dansangel: The only "fiasco" was that the wrong guy got elected....So, you've always been a, er, uh, conservative?

homeschool mama: I've been a lifelong conservative...(um, except for the "lost years" in my 20's)

homeschool mama today

dansangel: So! There's hope for you after all! Anything else you'd care to share?

homeschool mama: We enjoyed a family vacation along the coast this past autumn. Spending time together as a family is so awesome!

dansangel: Yeah, I'll bet. If you sent your daughter to government school, you could have some precious time to yourself...maybe check out a government-funded entitlement program or two.

homeschool mama: Recently we bought a retro trailer. We're excited to test it out once the rainy season is over. You may now refer to us as "Trailer Trash." Next year we may have enough money for teeth....

dansangel: I can see we're not going to get any further in this interview, so let's just call it a day....

homeschool mama: One final thing I'd like to share: Take time to count your blessings, as there are many. Take time to show your loved ones how much they mean to you. Take time.

The two most important people in
homeschool mama's life - Fidgit and psychogirl

Please join me in welcoming another of FR's Finest...

Louie's "quangling?" Oh, Homeschool, you should be honored!
He only quangles for the ones he really likes.

Hey, Freesie....Louie quangles with no one. At least until he knows what quangling is.

(pretending to know what I am talking about, as per usual)

LOL When you find out, let me know.

Quangling might be a fun thing to do. Even with you. LOL

Can you make a banner with a middle age woman in it? And send it to psychogirl???????

I don't mess with no psycogirls.

I didn't say that, of course, and will deny it if you accuse me of such.

Too late....I have it in writing. : )

Hi Dansangel, I am back from CPAC, but tired. On Sunday my friend and I got up at 6:00 EST, packed and got out of the hotel by 8:30. Took metro into DC. We walked from WA Monument to Whitehouse, lunch at Old Ebbitt Grill (famous), into Chinatown (passing Kennedy Center & NPR (yuk), back to metro then Capitol Building, taxi, DC Mall to visit Vietnam War Memorial, Korean War Memorial, & Lincoln Memorial, cab to metro, metro into Arlington, VA. It was then 3:30, got shuttle back to hotel to pick up our luggage, arrived at airport at 4:10, flight out at 6:00, arrived Seattle at 12:20 in the morning, got to bed at 4:30 DC time... Almost 24 HOURS! LOL My body doesn't know if it's coming or going! The "23 European Countries in 3 days Tour" LOL! What a bunch of fun :)

A few days ago I was having some work done at my local garage. A blonde came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten. We all looked at each other, and another customer asked, What is a seven-hundred-ten?

She replied, You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine, I lost it and need a new one. It had always been there.

The mechanic gave the blonde a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then took her over to another car which had the hood up and asked, "is there a 710 on this car?"

She pointed and said, Of course, its right there.

Thanks Diver!!

It (2 tons of rock) woulda kinda sorta broken the rake, huh?

HaHa!! No, it almost broke my back! No, I moved the rock into piles by rake, into and out of a wheelbarrow by shovel, and then spread it back out after laying down plastic using the rake again.

Hope you're enjoying your day in the spotlight!

Howdy, FRiend ! Congratulations, FReeper of the Day ! I loved the pics, all of them. I got a very special chuckle out of the one captioned "What a lovely couple, eh?", LOL ! You and the hubster have a good sense of humor.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to the thread since this morning. Dad came up this morning and we went to Mom's sister's for lunch and a short visit. We came back to my place and I did his taxes for him. Mom used to do that, but when she passed away two years ago, I'm now the designated CPA. (Yeah, right ! lol. Nah, I just do his taxes).

I hope you've enjoyed your day in the spotlight, FRiend!

Hi Nan. I saw you asked about the Russians. It's part of a program started 18 years ago to develop a positive relationship with Russia (can't remember the name) Our Rotary Club agreed to participate by acting as "hosts", putting them up, arranging social outings etc. They are here for three weeks. These are all farmers and their days are filled with visiting farms, Ohio State school of ag., all sorts of stuff. The people doing the scheduling are out of California and we find them emailing us changes 1 hour before they are to begin the day...so it's kind of a madhouse. I'm co-chairing the transportation piece, finding volunteers to transport them during the day. There's 13 in all, 11 non English speaking guys and 2 interpreters. As I said, its choas for us, but they seem to be having the time of their lives!!!! We've dubbed the project "THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING" (remember the movie????)
