That's a kind of good news for the families I suppose, but I wonder how they were able to determine it so qucikly?

I didn't hear them say ALL 7. I heard them say that remains had been found.

I'm amazed--I would have thought that the intense heat at such a height would have caused anything human to literally evaporate, much like the situation on 9-11. I'm also amazed that there appear to be no injuries on the ground from falling debris.

Check the live thread for the press conference. I wasn't the only one who heard that.

Sh'ma Yisroel, Adonai elohainu, Adonai eh'chad. I had heard, and please excuse the spelling here, that it was "Sh'ma Yisroel, Adonai elohainu, Adonai eh'lohm."
Or is that something else?

Did the habitation pod of the shuttle remain intact? If if didn't they should have burned up with the shuttle.

I'm also amazed that there appear to be no injuries on the ground from falling debris. That has been amazing, considering the huge area that debris fell over. But RIP, dear Columbia astronauts.

I heard it too. Remains from ALL astronauts have been found.

If they were any parts of the suit still on the remains, they could identify it that way, plus size, sex, skin, hair, and eye color, dental records, etc.

Thankfully, the families have something to bury now. Yes; yesterday, the father of one (darn, I can't remember which male astronaut, but the one who was single) had tears come to his eyes when he said it didn't appear there'd be anything left for him to bury his son....my heart broke for him, again, at that.

If the hab pod was breached before crashing they should have burned up almost to the point of disentigration. If it the hab pod was breached and they claim to have found the remains then im becoming a conspiracy theorist.

Seems almost impossible for human tissue to have survived that kind of temperature, velocity and trauma.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our G*d, the LORD is One.
At least in a way Colonel Ramon can rest in Eretz Yisrael, and give our brothers there another reason to hold on.
Anytime the GWBush administration wants to really support Israel, just jump in! Maybe this tragedy will be the catalyst, to move W beyond the deceptive "peace ... stability" line.

Without being too graphic, I question their ability to positively ID all seven so quickly. When one comes down as a torso and thigh bone and another comes down as one entire leg and another has their helmet land somewhere else, I don't understand how this could be unless the other six came down together in one spot (which I find rather doubtful from what's been revealed so far).
I don't doubt that, with DNA testing, they could eventually account for all seven but I can't imagine they've accomplished that certainty so quickly.

That Democrat Senator (former astronaut) from Florida said this morning on one of the talk shows that if the crew cabin had been "breached", there would have been instant decompression and they would have quickly lost consciousness. That would be a huge comfort to me if one of my friends or relatives were on board.
We don't know how long the crew members knew that there was a problem, since they probably haven't synched up the time of the last radio transmission to the video of the shuttle starting to break apart (as far as I know), but hopefully they didn't know exactly how big the problem was until it was too late. I sincerely believe they didn't even have time to know that the end had come, even if they realized there was a problem.

If the flight deck and the mid-deck area was not breached before it reached the stratosphere or troposphere, then remains could have survived. Even with break-up, it doesn't mean that it completely disintegrates right away.
