The next war with Iraq won't be a distant video-game conflict that we will watch live on CNN as in 1991.
It will likely be a two-front war, with the American heartland as the second battlefield.
That's the quiet but grave warning that senior military officials are beginning to sound as the Defense Department accelerates its plan to assemble nearly 200,000 troops in Southwest Asia preparing to invade and topple the Iraqi regime. Hundreds, if not thousands, of U.S. military personnel are also quietly preparing for combat right here at home.
This is a threat and a response issue that has quietly emerged in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, although it has attracted scant attention or interest from Congress, the news media or public at large...

Oh, it's bookmarked, buddy. Answer my question: Do you honestly think that a quarter million American troops will be pounding sand and otherwise doing nothing over there for an unlimited period of time? When we move that many troops, costing us that much money, you can be damn sure they're not just for show.

No you can't.

Hell, I've enough in my Kalifornia garage vault to arm a good size patrol.....All legal too -not as effective as I'd like, but sufficent for starters!
It's certainly good enough to put us into postion to secure some "better" stuff if the SHTF.

I believe that the extent of the success of these HOMELAND assaults will determine how quickly the Iraq war turns into WWIII.
I also expect at a certain point, great portions of the leftists will turn wholesale traitor and join in the mayhem and destruction--particularly against Christians--but to some degree against all authority.
It won't be just black armbands in sympathy with. Hanoi Janes will be throwing the Molatav coctails and setting off bombs.
Wish I didn't feel such things.

You've got to stop scaring folks.
Many in this forum believe that the guys in white hats always win..
In fact - it's the guy who disrupts or discourages the most...that wins..
Our society and infrastructure must appear a delicious and low hanging fruit target to our enemies.... Especially an enemy that comes from NOWHERE but EVERYWHERE -- NO country claims them as their own... How do you destroy a cult - without killing all their members and families?
We haven't yet decided to deliver such a blow that the "radical" Muslim world gets INTERESTED in policing itself and removing these lunatics from their/our midst.
In this new era, of terrorism - we can in fact be defeated, or at least brought to our knees before being forced to destroy much of the radical Muslim world in a desperate attempt to survive.. Against dedicated terrorists...the ONLY defense possible is massive offense against their homeland and supporters.
Iraq is not the end.... It is simply step two - in a 10 to 20 year struggle. A much shorter period if the lunatics are crazy enough to REALLY provoke us.

How do you destroy a cult - without killing all their members and families? You take out Mecca Medina Qom. Which are their "low hanging fruits". You take out all the Jihadist mosques you are able too. With cruise missles for some. You assassinate crazed Jihadist mullahs and imams. In short you cut the heads off the snake. The reformed and chastened Islam that emerges can build a new Mecca holy city in Indonesia or in Saudi. Makes no diff to me.

Saved and I just may post it myself. Only thing I would add is the Izzies will probably beat us to it. No muss, no fuss, no radioactive oil fields. Just a humbled Islam set on the correct path for living with others without Jihad. The golden road to unlimited bliss and peace.

How do you destroy a cult - without killing all their members and families? Exterminate them, firebomb the mosques and drive them back home. If they release smallpox or bio weapons here, it will be open season on Joe Jihadi and his family.

I tend to agree with you. The day there is a suicide bombing at a mall in Minneapolis or Denver is the day that the Middle-East needs to start preparing to become Uncle Sam's bitch. I don't believe there are too many US citizens that would stand for that. I think 90% of the population would demand that we go over there and destroy the Culture of Death that permeates mid-eastern society. I also believe that we have a President that would be quite happy to take action. The difference between Israel and the US is they can really only play defense against the terror they face, we will take the fight to the terrorist. The day there is a palestinian suicide bomber that kills Americans on American soil is the day all Palestinians on the west bank need to start packing their bags for Jordan.

18 guys with 'zero' trainingAnd THAT'S where you're wrong.
It took only *three* trained individuals, individuals with the just the necessary flight skills to pilot the first three aircraft ... the rest of the personnel on-board were just supporting actors ...
You guys continually fail at deductive reasoning and in-depth analysis at every turn - don't you?
I guess that's what significantly differentiates *me* from 'you' ...

how much training does it take to walk into a ... It takes more skill than that, honey, to blow up bridges (as a PREVIOUS poster was pointing to) and harm infrastructure than some mindless twit's pulling-the-pin on his simple little homemade anti-personnel bomb.
(The simple wounding/maiming of a group of civilians in close-quarters is really bush-league ...)
C'mon guys - can't you offer up any more argument than this?
Ladies and gentleman - THESE arguments you offer up are weak - WEAK!
And NO ONE dares take up my previous assertions about the TIMING of terrorist attacks that SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED UP THE 9/11 event (should thousands of so-called 'terrorists' have poured through out porous borders)!
(HOW MANY TERRORIST EVENTS HAVE WE HAD IN THIS COUNTRY SINCE 9/11 ... ZERO ...)

"HOW MANY TERRORIST EVENTS HAVE WE HAD IN THIS COUNTRY SINCE 9/11 ... ZERO..." Post 9/11 we've had a number of Anthrax attacks.
We've had one kid planting pipe bombs in mailboxes as he drove around the heartland in a smiley-face pattern.
We've had two suspicious jet crashes.
We've had two snipers in the D.C. area.
We've had a tiny blip increase in the number and frequency of train derailments.
We've had a series of cruise ships hit with a bio-agent.
We've had at least two suicide pilots fly small aircraft into bank buildings in Florida (Orlando and Tampa, if I remember correctly).
They've hit a French oil tanker with a suicide raft.
They've fired a couple of missiles at an Israeli passenger aircraft (and suicide-bombed a hotel in Africa).
They've killed scores of Australians in a nightclub bombing in Bali.
We've stopped one suicide bomber from blowing up one of our jets (AKA Richard Reid) with C4 shaped into the sole of his shoe (i.e. the shoe-bomber).
We've caught one bomber trying to set off a radioactive conventional bomb (AKA the "dirty bomber").
It's not that they haven't tried more attacks, it's just that they really don't have the capacity to inflict much widespread harm (fear, sure, but real damage, no).

Post 9/11 we've had a number of Anthrax attacks. No, we had no anthrax attacks. A number of threatening letters were sent to US media and political figures, containing samples of a highly weaponized, closely-held US military "Gold Standard" strain of anthrax, with cover letters warning "THIS IS NEXT." Hmm, who could possibly have sent them, and for what end?
