USO Canteen FReeper Style ~ New Canteen Mission Statement ~ January 21 2003
68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub and FRiends of the Canteen

Posted on 01/21/2003 5:47:49 AM PST by 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub

Due to an ever changing world it is time to clarify and re-define the Canteen Mission Statement.
When the Canteen first opened on Oct 7 2001 it was in response to the tragic events of 9/11.
It also opened the first day of the war on terror.
At that time there was overwhelming support for the war effort and the military.
Now that we are on the verge of a new phase of the war on terror
there exists an enemy within that has surfaced again.
All one has to do is read or watch the news to see
the anti-American protests start again, just like in the 60's.

It is up to each one of us to counter this movement.
There are many FReepers who can and do attend the counter FReeps.

Join Operation Infinite FReep!

For those who cannot attend these FReeps there are many things we can do to support our military.

Henceforth the Canteen Mission Statement is:

Showing support AND boosting the morale
of our military and our allies military
AND the family members of the above.
AND Honoring those who have served before.

So if you see a thread, a post, have an idea etc
that aligns with the Canteen Mission please link it or post it on the daily thread.
If you are a participant in an Operation Infinite FReep please post your notices or reports here.

Know that daily active duty military and their family members come here.
Show them that WE do care and DO stand behind them and their efforts to protect our Freedom.

Remarks by the President After Meeting with Economists (Including Iraq) FR thread

Excerpt:

...Adam.
Q Thank you. Thank you, Mr. President. The French are saying they would block a U.N. resolution authorizing force on Iraq. Are you frustrated by these comments? Can you still reach a consensus?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, Adam, first of all, it's important for the American citizens and the citizens around the world to understand that Saddam Hussein possesses some of the world's deadliest weapons. He poses a serious threat to America and our friends and allies. The world came together, including the French, to say he must disarm. He's not disarming. As a matter of fact, it appears to be a rerun of a bad movie. He is delaying, he is deceiving, he is asking for time. He's playing hide-and-seek with inspectors.

One thing is for certain, he's not disarming. So the United States of America, in the name of peace, will continue to insist he does disarm, and we will keep the pressure on Saddam Hussein.

Angle.
Q Mr. President, when do you intend to make a decision about whether or not the inspection process is -- actually has any hope of really disarming Saddam?

THE PRESIDENT: It's clear to me now that he is not disarming. And, surely, our friends have learned lessons from the past. Surely we have learned how this man deceives and delays. He's giving people the run-around. And as many of my advisors said on TV this week, time is running out. I believe in the name of peace he must disarm. And we will lead a coalition of willing nations to disarm him. Make no mistake about that, he will be disarmed.

Q When -- how do you decide when that moment comes that you need to make a judgment?

THE PRESIDENT: I will let you know when the moment has come. (Laughter.)

Q Mr. President, who is in that coalition of the willing now? Are France, Germany out?

THE PRESIDENT: You will find out who is in the coalition of the willing. It is very much like what happened prior to our getting a resolution out of the United Nations. Many of the punditry -- of course, not you -- (laughter) -- but other punditry were quick to say, no one is going to follow the United States of America. And we got a unanimous resolution out of the United Nations.

The United States has made it clear our intention, and our intention is to work with the world for Saddam to disarm. He's been given ample time to disarm. We have had ample time now to see that the tricks of the past -- he's employing the tricks of the past today. He's giving people the run-around. He wants to play hide-and-seek. He's got a vast country.

He wants to focus the attention of the world on inspectors. This is not about inspectors; this is about a disarmed Iraq. He has weapons of mass destruction -- the world's deadliest weapons -- which pose a direct threat to the United States, our citizens and our friends and allies. He has been told to disarm for 11 long years. He's not disarming.

This business about, you know, more time -- you know, how much time do we need to see clearly that he's not disarming? As I said, this looks like a rerun of a bad movie and I'm not interested in watching it.

All right, thank you, all.

Thank you for the ping! I'm on it. Our troops should know that what they're seeing in the press and on their TV screens re. these so-called "peaceniks" does not reflect the "will of the people" or the truth. We will go around, under and above the press, the "peaceniks" and the pols to get the truth to our neighbors and to the world.

In a diplomatic dispatch just handed in before air-time, French Minister d'Surrendeur Jacque le Joque warned UNuchs his nation's surrender to Saddam Hussein yesterday would prohibit its agreeing to a "coalition of the willing".

Late word from high-ranking administration officials assured reporters this would not stop the humanitarian cheese drops to the endangered surrender monkeys.

Meanwhile the finest fighting force on earth continued to converge on Saddam's Weaponsland theme park, though the viagra-chewing bunker rat told AFP reporteurs he has no trouble sleeping.

To err on the side of safety, special operations forces were putting the finishing touch on a six-pack of BLU-113s nicknamed "Saddam's Sominex".

Godspeed Swift Victory and Safe Return

Doctor! Doctor!

Doctor, doctor, my wooden leg is giving me a lot of pain.
Why's that?
My wife keeps hitting me over the head with it.
*
Doctor, doctor, my hair's coming out. Can you give me something to
keep it in?
Certainly - how about a paper bag?
*
Doctor, doctor, people keep ignoring me.
Next, please!
*
Doctor, doctor, I feel like a pair of curtains.
Pull yourself together!
*
Doctor, doctor, I feel like a bridge.
What's come over you?
Two cars and a bus!
*
Doctor, doctor, I keep thinking I'm a spoon.
Sit there and don't stir.
*
Doctor, doctor, I keep thinking I'm a billiard ball.
Get back in the queue.
*
Doctor, doctor, I keep thinking I'm a pack of cards.
I'll deal with you later.
*
Doctor, doctor, I keep thinking there's two of me.
One at a time, please.
*
Doctor, doctor, I keep thinking I'm a dog.
Lie down on the couch and I'll examine you.
I can't. I'm not allowed on the furniture.

Last Sunday Mrs. Johnson was teaching the children about the prophet
Elijah and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how the false
prophets unsuccessfully called on their god to send fire down from
heaven. Next, she described in detail how Elijah, the prophet of God,
built an altar, put wood upon it, cut a steer in pieces and laid it
upon the altar. She added that before calling out to God, Elijah
commanded the people to fill four barrels of water and pour it over
the altar, four times.

"Now, said Mrs. Johnson, "Can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord
would have Elijah pour water over the steer on the altar?"

A little boy in the back of the room waved his hand, "That's easy,"
he said proudly. "He wanted to make gravy!"
