I always wondered why at the INA, the Iraqi news agency, Saddam or the Iraqi government congratulated Chavez all the time, and backed him.

Communist Regimes and Terrorist groups and Islamic Terrorist groups have been working hand in glove for the past thirty years at least. They train at each others camps and share information, cash and weapons. People get stuck on the fact that one is "religious" and the other is not and can't see that they have a common goal; the destruction of the West.
When the USSR fell they all lost a major source of funding and so things became quiet for a bit. Now they are back. I hate fighting the same war more then once!

I said it before and I'll say it again. Venezuela needs a Franco or a Pinochet to step up to the plate. Compare Spain and Chile (both kicking ass and taking names) to Cuba whose heroes were slaughtered at the Bay of Pigs because of that treacherous scumbag JFK. The Venezuelans can strike all they want but that S.O.B is going to have to catch a bullet with his forehead. Who's going to do it-some popularly elected official. That poor bastard will wind up in a damp cell with the jumper cables from a car battery clamped to his manhood. It's going to take a General or an Admiral to do the job.
Oh, spare me the "You must be a fascist" flames. I'm a Republican conservative and a capitalist pig to my core. I am just realistic enough to know that i's going to take a military coup to get rid of this guy. A mandate from the flag waving people isn't going to get the job done.

Shanec posts from a site created by Venezuelian military officers who want to take out Chavez. If a coup goes down, the CIA needs their hands out of the process because they have a tendancy to screw up. Unfortunately, force will probably have to be used and a General will have to impose order until new elections are held.
BTW: I'm a libertarian Republican and an even bigger capitalist pig than most, so save the I'm a fascist flames.

Where is the CIA? Where is our Intel community? Interestingly enough CIA has been a registered freeper since 12-14-02.
Whoever reserved that name is just going to have to give it up. LOL!
Hey, CIA!!

By the way, "FBI" is open. Someone grab it quick so we can use it to flag them. They may could use some FReeper assistance one day. ;-)

Taking Chavez out seems like a much more important priority to me than Saddam. No one has suggested that Saddam funds al Qaeda, and Chavez is in our sphere of influence.

No kidding. What is that called down there, the tri-country axis of al queda? There have been recent threads on that. Of course, the media has a new cloning story and an always popular missing person case they have chosen to go high profile with, when there are tragic abductions every day in this country. Any story that affects our well being as a nation, and that doesn't come from Washington, does not get passed on. Sickening.

Hate to break it to you, but Bush and Rumsfeld don't care. Cheney doesn't care. They are either ignorant or uncaring about the Communist bloc which has formed to our south. When Brazil put a Communist, Lula, in power last year, you could barely hear a whisper from the administration.
The fact is, the Bush administration is so hellbent on Iraq that they are overlooking serious crisis points all over. Even worse they are proposing this war on Iraq is about terrorism - when in fact spots such as Venezuala and Chavez (not to mention Saudi Arabia) have a much more clear direct link to Al Qaeda.

A defector turning against their former bosses and telling tails is so common and so often filled with lies and exaggerations that I question how reliable the story really is.

Wouldn't you give almost ANYTHING - to have input to the decision matrix that determines WHO gets their name added to the CIA "hit list"...
I would gladly serve -- with no compensation.
As list writer -- or "delivery boy"...
"Making a list, checking twice --- gonna make sure whose naughty or nice!"
