As do conservates and the country. Frist has a lifetime ACU rating of 88, and higher in the last couple of years.

I will continue to serve the people of Mississippi in the United States Senate." Praise the Lord.
Let us all send our thanks and appreciation to Mr. Lott for this selfless move. It was a hard decision, but one which I believe was in the best interests of the Party and the Country.
Now lets get a ML without all this baggage and get on with moving the country in the RIGHT direction.

Why do you suppose Nickles didn't run? Was Lott perhaps held up as an example?
Al D'amato considers Frist a "moderate."

"As do conservates and the country. Frist has a lifetime ACU rating of 88, and higher in the last couple of years." Frist will be the new ML. He is virtually unbashable, has ZERO baggage, is conservative BUT moderate ENOUGH to keep Chafee in line. And the Media has been kind to him.
This is another in the long string of black eyes for the Dems and the Media, who overplayed their hand and got exactly what they asked for. Their Issue Box has just been emptied.
And guess who once again was misunderestimated? Mr. Strategery.

Would you play poker against GWB?
I wouldn't.

Yeah, yeah, must be some skull and crossbones tri-lateral commission NWO blackmail thing. Maybe Kissinger resigned so as to be able to put the hammer to Nickles and any other "true" conservative.
Or maybe Nickles read the landscaped and found that he wouldn't be able to pull 26 votes.
Anyway, I'll clarify by saying that with Frist, Santorum, or even Kay Bailey, we can't lose(each has their advantages). Remember, their are other GOP Senate leaders besides the ML, its a team. With Lott doing the right thing and staying in the Senate, I think conservatives are in a good position now(considering the 51-49 split, existing political split in the general public, and the current great need to better educate the populace about what conservatism is actually about, as opposed to the media portrayals and stereotypes.)

may be too close to the White House. Oh no! That's all we need. A Republican senate leader that will work with a Republican president to get things done.
What we need is another leader like Lott. One more concerned with getting along with the Democrats in the senate than working with other Republicans.
To: B Knotts
D'Amato considers himself to be a "Moderate." So, it was probably meant to be a compliment, coming from him.
I say, (lifting my glass) God save Thee, Senator Lott.

Isn't is ironic? Lott's last act was one last, final cave to the extreme left wing of the Democrat Party. I think that this is quite fitting.

"Would you play poker against GWB? I wouldn't." No way. He's too good.
BTW, this has been known about him since the early days of the campaign. People who have done business with him say that behind the facade is a man who can gee-whiz you to death in a meeting and come out with everything he wanted - and make you feel good about it.

Carville, Jackson, Begala among others urged Lott to stay put. How do you view this as caving to left wing?

I have been fustrated by Lott for years; I am glad that he will be replaced by (likely) a much better leader. This could help the Republican party in the long run. Makes me think of: "But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good."

There are a number of things GWB is not, but a top-notch strategerist isn't one of them.

Absolute blasphemy! Lott in no way exemplifies Christ, and in no way does his move even remotely resemble the sacrifice He made. Although, I will say that more than a little help from Him would have been needed to keep Lott in his previous position.
Still truckin'

This is another in the long string of black eyes for the Dems and the Media, who overplayed their hand and got exactly what they asked for. Their Issue Box has just been emptied. I don't agree. This just paves the way for the dems. The republican party has scattered like a bunch of chickens at the sight of a hawk. Bush sold out Lott and the party. They collectively showed no backbone. The witch hunt is just gathering steam. Look for a democrat in office in 2004.
