I will continue to serve the people of Mississippi in the United States Senate." Praise the Lord.
Let us all send our thanks and appreciation to Mr. Lott for this selfless move. It was a hard decision, but one which I believe was in the best interests of the Party and the Country.
Now lets get a ML without all this baggage and get on with moving the country in the RIGHT direction.

may be too close to the White House. Oh no! That's all we need. A Republican senate leader that will work with a Republican president to get things done.
What we need is another leader like Lott. One more concerned with getting along with the Democrats in the senate than working with other Republicans.

Isn't is ironic? Lott's last act was one last, final cave to the extreme left wing of the Democrat Party. I think that this is quite fitting.

I have been fustrated by Lott for years; I am glad that he will be replaced by (likely) a much better leader. This could help the Republican party in the long run. Makes me think of: "But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good."

The Republicans are such punks. They should have backed Lott on principle from Day 1, its obvious the man's comments were taken out of context. Instead they cave for political expediency and set themselves up for another round. You think the Liberals are going to stop now. They have just been handed a tool for selecting Republican leadership. Everyone one of these Dixiecrat converts has a skeleton in their closet somewhere. We replace a man with a lifetime ACU rating of 93, with one of 88 and we expect greater focus on conservative issues. Here's one for you, how many people wanna take odds on seeing a partial-birth abortion ban any time soon??? The Bushies dont see that as important right now. Now they have a dittohead in the Senate instead of someone who would actually follow his conscious. Now the President can get all of his agenda to the floor, great. Of course nothing on his agenda right now, other than tax cuts, is even remotely conservative. But thats okay. Social Security is going bankrupt anyways, so why not add a couple of million Mexicans onto the rolls. What's a few more agencies when we arent paying for them anyways. Dont get me wrong people, I like Bush. But his political team feels he has to be as close to the center as possible to win in 2004. Without someone else to champion conservative issues, we aren't going to going to get anything important done, just whatever Karl feels is expedient.

I can see why he had to resign but he was right. Truman was a terrible president. He let Stalin have Eastern Europe. He fired MacArthur instead of nuking the chinese like we should have. Truman didn't exactly end segregation anyway.
That should have been Lott's defense. He shouldn't have apologized.

A senator who has spoken to Frist cautioned, however, that Frist's candidacy could be hurt by a perception that he may be too close to the White House. "They don't want a senator who's a yes-man for the president and Rove over here," said the senator, referring to top White House political adviser Karl Rove.
Frist is a Karl Rove clone. He WILL be the Administration's yes man in the Senate as we move toward the old Soviet Supreme Soviet rubber stamp parliament model of governance in the US Senate.

Good riddence to a backstabber. No kudos for doing the "homorable" thing.
Lott is a self-serving !@#$% who doesn't give a rat's rear-end about anyone but himself.

He added that Bush has a very good realationship with First, "as he does with all senators."Yeah, right, Ari -- especially with Daschle.

GWB said in the interest of pursuing the best possible agenda for the future of our country, that I should not seek to remain as majority leader of the United States Senate for the 108th Congress effective Jan. 6, 2003," Lott said in a written statement. "So to all those who offered me their friendship, support and prayers, I will be eternally grateful. GWB said I could continue to serve the people of Mississippi in the United States Senate, so I will do that. It beats greeting people entering the local Walmarts. Once again I would like to apologize for sticking my foot in my mouth and helping hand over Louisiana to those dimwits. Oh there I go again, I'm sorry, I'm the dimwit. Oh, by the way I hope yall enjoy my Christmas present to yall!
