Pushed by the Mexican government, the Bush administration is working on a Social Security accord that would put tens of thousands of Mexicans onto the Social Security roster and send hundreds of millions of dollars in benefits south of the border.

White House and Mexican government officials say discussions on an agreement to align the Social Security systems of the two countries are informal and preliminary. But excerpts from an internal Social Security Administration memo obtained this month say the agreement "is expected to move forward at an accelerated pace," with the support of both governments, and could be in force by next October.

There are about 3 million legal Mexican workers, and 10 million ILLEGAL Mexican workers in the US. ALL paying into SS.

Wrong on both counts. Many of the legal and most of the illegals do not pay in SS. They work either for cash or they work as contract labor. No taxes withheld. They flash a SS card at the employer, he writes them a check and it is the employees responsibility to pay at the end of the year. So they do not pay all that much SS. That is a premise the government is trying to float - but it is not true.

You should have asked for a copy of the document and mailed it to the District Attorney.

said as much as $21 billion in Social Security payments have not been tracked to potential beneficiaries, most likely because they were paid under a false Social Security number. "

WEll, if it was a false SS #, it probably belonged to someone else. Why aren't they collecting it? Why can't they just check with the person who 'owns' that number? This doesn't make sense. It sounds good - but I couldn't even file this under misinformation - it goes right to the propaganda file.

First, those that working with fake papers are paying their 1/2 share of SS and the employer is his 1/2 share.

Not if they work contract labor. NO monies are withheld. None - none. You work 40 hours at $10 and you get a check for $400. You are expected to file your tax return and pay the taxes. The employer sends you a 1099 stating how much you earned and the rest is your job.

George W. Bush - SOURCE

Darkness By Design For Amnesty Move
"At the precise directions of Mr. Bush — the House sneaked through a bill directly related to the student visa fiasco."

But deliberately cloaked in the bill — the first attempted passage was, in fact, to be by unrecorded vote — was the highly controversial Section 245(i) amendment to the immigration law, which allows "undocumented" immigrants (who, to employ plainer talk, are really illegal aliens) to immediately get permanent residency. All they need to do is pay the federal government $1,000 and have a close relative or employer sponsor them.

This decision gives people who come here illegally the ability to skirt American law, to move to the front of the line because they have skirted that law, and to avoid any real check on their past. Without it, they would have to return to their own countries, apply legally, probably wait up to 10 years and go through at least the minimal check of experienced visa and consular officers in the American Embassies.

The fact that this entire scenario was cloaked in the secrecy and deception of a spy novel — it was included in the day's "suspension calendar," which is generally reserved for noncontroversial matters — demonstrates the degree to which the administration is trying to advance its idea of amnesty for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens in America, perhaps up to 9 million."

"Government ought to have a policy that helps people with a downpayment."

You are not hallucinating, he really wants to have the government provide downpayments.

Vote for Bush, vote for socialism. Vote for Bush, vote for one world government

They pay taxes, including Social InSecurity taxes. Therefore, should they not be entitled to Social InSecurity benefits

Actually, they pay very little taxes. The propaganda they are trying to float about the amounts they pay in and do not receive is just that propaganda. The reason they are so attractive is the employer is because allthey have to do is 'see' a SS card, write a check each week or two for total monies, nothing withheld, and send a1099 at the end of the year. No responsibility on the part of the employer.

Now if theya re working and paying taxes on a stolen SS card, what are they going to do if someone is already collecting those taxes? YOu know the person whose card they stole. Seems to me getting to use the SS money would be just reward for having their SS # used or misused.

These are legal workers who paid ssi taxes. Not letting them get it back is robbery.

This sounds like something new because I have known people all my life who come here and work and return home, and as they put it, 'live like a king on SS'. So there must be more to this than just some legal working receiving SS.

what you paid into it over a lifetime and divide it by the number of years left (using US average life expentancy). Then again, we're dealing with the Social Security Administration NOT common sense. We should just end the SS scam now.

ACtually, our accountant told us they had recently changed it to the entire life's earnings - not just the most recent earnings. Don't know if that is in effect now - but it will be in two years when huband's ss starts. After hearing this, he might should start now - at least he would get it for a year or two before they send it all to Mexico.

As soon as they are in, they will go back to Mexico, get some quack to declare them disabled, and then claim disability. They will get a check from US for the rest of their lives.

I'm not voting for him. Period.

If the statistics here at freep are any indication many of us will be staying home or not voting for him (the statistics indicating how many of us are against immigration crap).

There were only 3% at most on their side. The rest of US(A) are against this shite and will continue to be, and I know LOTS of democrats that hate this stuff too!

I am all for abolishing that Ponzy scheeme called SS. You can believe in fairness all you want but I believe that if someone is here ILLEGALLY then they are entitiled to NOTHING! It is just like any other criminal enterprise. If someone is caught racketeering they don't get to keep the profits. They are forfeited. Same thing as far as I am concerned. You want to talk about fairness then lets talk fariness towards American citizens AND legal immigrants.

It seems that this article should cause as much trouble for Bush, with conservatives, as Letts comments did. I wonder if it'll be the same Lett defenders who'll defend this policy?

If all of you would just send in your money to the gop and vote for republicans, everthing would be ok!!!

(oh yeah, I forgot this one):

We ARE at war you know......

Many of the legal and most of the illegals do not pay in SS.

That's true, many never pay taxes at all. Those who use stolen Social Security numbers to obtain jobs under false pretenses should receive nothing but time in prison for committing a felony.

Plus Social Security is a welfare program, paying the SS taxes doesn't entitle one to receive it, it should be for American citizens only, we should not provide welfare programs to foreign countries, if they want them, they can design and build their own. An American who works past 65 doesn't get the money they put into Social Security just because they paid the taxes.
