Today America supports a racialist value system for minorities while demanding a democratic expansion of the white imagination. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus can embrace "blackness" and demand government preferences exclusively for their race. Remove the double standard and Trent Lott looks perfectly innocent by comparison.Shelby Steele's article "Of Race and Imagination." I pinged you to it. If we want to have a more lengthy debate on this -- and I'm game if you are -- that's probably a thread more on-topic than Freeper's Finest. The question isn't whether we have the best solutions -- we do. The question is how to persuade others to join us.
But in the end a man cannot be redeemed by a moral equivalence. That those who ask Sen. Lott to imagine beyond his race do not do so themselves is no consolation.
I see the Ex-Creep president is in the news bad mouthing the Republicans. Clinton "IS" the first black president, he should know about race issues, right?
