1970 WO1 Jeffrey A. Coffin (USAR) -- 57 AHC, Age 20, Flagstaff, Arizona

MAJ's Miller and Visconti -- HMM-362: Bodies not recovered, Quang Tin, South Vietnam.

He was my Uncle. Helicopter Pilot in Viet Nam. I was named after him. Never knew him. Circumstances around his death are somewhat unclear. I would like to know more.

JEFF AND I BECAME GOOD FRIENDS WHILE ROOMATES DURING FLIGHT SCHOOL AT FT WOLTERS. WE WERE YOUNG AND STUPID; AND WE ACTUALLY BELIEVED THE TAC OFFICER WHEN HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO COURT MARTIAL US FOR SUNBURNING OUR HEADS WHILE ON A WEEKEND PASS. JEFF WAS SUCH A GOOD PERSON. EVERYONE WHO KNEW HIM LIKED HIM. WE ALL MISS YOU JEFF.

November 22 became known as "Black Sunday" to all of the "Gladiators". While on a support mission for ground troops under siege at Plei Mei, WO1 Jeffery L. Coffin, piloting a UH-lC gun ship, was severely wounded in the head. He died enroute to the 71st Evacuation Hospital in Pleiku. WOl Coffin was extremely well respected by all in the 57th and his loss was deeply felt by the whole company. Five more aircraft were damaged by fire the same day.

My hubby, .45MAN was born in Portland, Maine. Didn't hang around there long, though. It's beautiful country. I've been to Kennebunkport with my folks when I was a child.
