Hillary is trying to say her bill says one thing. Nickles says the extension for unemployment benefits is much longer.

Are you implying that Hillary is the smartest woman in the world? That the media has lied to us over and over about that?

Looks like C-Span coverage is still on a live session -- they might have a late night replay, or check tomorrow...
BTW -- when I took a peek at the Senate proceedings about 2 (maybe even 3) hours ago, Senator Byrd was talking...when I just checked again, before posting this, he's still talking -- has he been up there that long ??

For some reason, I expected hillary to do better. Why? Did you start believing the media hype that she was the 'smartest woman in the world'? They've tried to repeat that lie long and loud and many have come to believe it!

Where did this happen? On the Floor of the senate? In a committee mtg? Where? I would LOVE to see Senator Nickols tell her she does not decide whose turn it is to speak...my guess...it knocked her socks off to be treated like a colleague and nothing especially grand.
I wish Nickols were our Majority leader in the senate. I love this guy. And he has NO TIME for the clintons-with good reason.

Good for him. A REAL MAN who will stand up to Hillary. She wants equality...well she has it. If she is gonna lie with the big dogs she has to expect to be treated just like everyone else. She has had this image of herself as being all everything. Well, sorry Hillary. You're all nothing and if Nickles told her it was not her place to decide who speaks...I lift my glass to him!!!

Where did this happen? It happened on the floor of the Senate.
After all the years she's worked to become powerful and important, I'm surprised she exposed her emotional side like she did.
She must have felt very, very desperate.
Nickles questioned her about the length of time people would be eligible for unemployment. He said that from the official wording it seemed as though they would be eligible for twice as long as Hillary had just told the Senators.
Hillary thanked him (sort of) for pointing out that little detail. Then she tried to talk about other things. I think another senator or two offered their opinions around this time.
At some point Hillary said that maybe the wording could be changed so it would be clearer to Nickles. (Almost as though it was his fault that he couldn't understand it. --A quick dig.)
A little later Hillary said that they based this legislation's wording on legislation that came out during the Bush 1 administration (putting in a little dig that there was a Bush 1 bad economy, just like there is a Bush 2 bad economy).
Nickles was concerned about the trigger mechanism for this bill as opposed to the Bush 1 bill. When Nickles asked her some specific question about the circumstances for the Bush 1 bill she said, in effect, "How would I know? That was before my time. I wasn't in the Senate then." This was jarring, because she had just acted as though she and her buddies had spent time looking at the Bush 1 bill. You would think they would know something about the circumstances surrounding it.
When you read the transcript (or see the tape) you'll realize Hillary was unprepared for any meaningful discussion of something that was supposedly important to her.
She kept trying to talk at length about particular unemployed people, rather than deal with what the legislation really said. Nickles asked her very specific questions and she was unable (or unwilling) to answer them. Her tactics were just like those of her husband. (She used WJC's typical story line of --"Now take Joe Smith. He's a steelworker whose been unemployed for 3 months......") It was obvious that she wanted the viewers to know how very, very much she and the Democrats care about the (non-)working people.
I wish I could remember everything and the order in which it happened. I hope you all get to see it.

I agree! The more she melts down in public, the worse she looks (outside the Red Diaper Baby enclave of Manhattan). She will remind more and more folks of the psychos they know and hate. So PIAPS keep a yellin!

I just don't know why you are only creditting hillary with being the "smartest woman in the world". I think it is sexist not to admit she is the "smartest being in the world". Poor thing! To think there could be MEN out there who are smarter. Maybe a lot of them. We poor women, on the other hand, just have to settle for being really STUPID, cuz' she is smarter than we are, and that means we must be limited to an IQ of about 80. Damn, does this mean I have to start saying DUH more. Or will "Uhm, ahhh, ahhh" suffice?
