Feel that numbness? That strange slightly chilling shift deep in the heart, like a cold wind across the blood, an ice pick straight to the third eye, fingernails across the karmic chalkboard?

Fear not -- it's just the dark storm clouds of sadness and savage spiritual pain that just settled in over the collective soul of the country and indeed much of the world recently, as the Republican Party snatched total control of the American government and really honestly promised to further its agenda of fear and war and intolerance and bad sex and more petroleum products forevermore.

Actually, the Gods are delighted...except for Nike. She's hoping that Lott will make Jeffords squirm. But then, a Goddess of total victory tends to be that way...

The gods can only shake their heads, and sigh.

It is obvious that the author considers himself one of the sighing gods. How archtypical Democratic elitist, having another spoiled brat hissy fit because the voters don't share his wisdom.

Crops will be blighted, babies will all be born deformed, the migratory routes of birds will radically shift, countless numbers of whales will beach themselves, and all soda and beer will be rendered flat all across the land.

ROFLMAO! What a bunch of dipsh*ts!

And the basic upshot being that Congress will now have almost zero struggle or balanced counterargument when the GOP chooses to ram through more generally invidious resolutions and white-power laws.

Oh Stop it. You still have Trent Lott in there. - Tom

It never ceases to amuse me, the amount of vitriol with which leftists define conservatives as "vitriolic".

Yeah, I did.

Then I realized I was only reading an article by Mark Morford in SFgate and returned to my senses.

Neither party should have such power. And the GOP now has far too much

So, someday in the future when perhaps the Democrats hold the White House and both houses of Congress, you will advocate that Democrats forfeit elections just to make it fair?

Billions and billions of locusts will swarm, Freddy Kruger will look like Santa Claus compared to the on-coming ultra right, crop fields will have circles like never before, UFOs will take over all major airports, and all National Park forest trees will be chopped down and used to make a land-fill of the Grand Canyon,

The offensive part of this article is the liberal assumption that conservatives are the ones who are blind to the world around them as opposed to the liberals. Libs honestly believe themselves to be more intelligent than those who vote Republican. The irony of this is the fact that even the liberal leaning Newsweek magazine had an article covering the reality that those who voted for Bush are better educated than those who voted for Gore (excluding those college professors who live in a fantasy world of their own making). But this article also highlights the fact that, while the libs consider themselves to be the ones with the big hearts, one read-through of this article shows just how mean-spirited the libs really are.

I don't know what's worse...the fact the writer believes this enough to set this to paper, the fact that an editor and a publisher actually let this screed get to press or the fact that a whole lot of folks in that part of the country will take this crap seriously. I mean, it reads like a good freeper parody of what the other side thinks of us...

But it turns out that no parody could do justice to the actual mindset that has led to this pathetic load of bile being printed in a major newspaper...

Laws that further its famously mean-spirited schema of war, oil, corporate cronyism, CEO inbreeding, heartlessness, artlessness, cultural molestation, giddy homophobia and really awful fashion sense.

I only got this far. I really didn't want to read the menstrual ravings of a flaming poof.

You're a looser:

If you are female, gay, bisexual, atheist, black, immigrant, poor, progressive, intellectual, open minded, open hearted, if you hold alternative views, dress funny, dance, enjoy sex, read seditious literature, believe in peace and funky spirituality and don't particularly care for a sneering angry self-righteous well-armed anti-everything deity, you are about to find out"

or any other kind of Democrat.
