"Everybody knows we're going in and approximately when. Tactical surprise is still possible though and it really doesn't much matter anyway."Maybe, maybe not:
SOUTH POMFRET, Vt. -- In what may well be the largest expansion of covert action by the armed forces since the Vietnam era, the Bush administration has turned to what the Pentagon calls the "black world" to press the war on terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.
The Defense Department is building up an elite secret army with resources stretching across the full spectrum of covert capabilities. New organizations are being created. The missions of existing units are being revised. Spy planes and ships are being assigned new missions in anti-terror and monitoring the "axis of evil."
The increasingly dominant role of the military, Pentagon officials say, reflects frustration at the highest levels of government with the performance of the intelligence community, law enforcement agencies and much of the burgeoning homeland security apparatus. It also reflects the desire of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to gain greater overall control of the war on terror.
Insulated from outside pressures, armed with matchless weapons and technology, trained to operate below the shadow line, the Pentagon's black world of classified operations holds out the hope of swift, decisive action in a struggle against terrorism that often looks more like a family feud than a war.
There is more to this article, but this is enough...

We're reading this third hand. The NYT sent this info to SADDAM first, then Drudge and now us."
That's funny as hell.

We are definately in for something. I live right across the river from NYC and I have been seeing Military helicopters flying overhead all day, and I have seen army jeeps on the Turnpike. God bless us all.

Is "South Pomfret, Vt.", the nerve center of the "black world"?

Is "South Pomfret, Vt.", the nerve center of the "black world"? This article was actually in the L.A. Times, written by "William M. Arkin,
William M. Arkin is a military affairs analyst who writes regularly for Opinion.
I copied it from Drudge about a week or so ago. It's about 4 pages long.

"There are deadlines for Saddam to meet in the UN resolution. Bush will not give the order in a couple of days. The first deadline is Friday November 15. Follow the dates in the resolution and you will see critical points when action may be order of Saddamn doesn't comply." I wonder if there is a 'plan' in there on what to do if Saddam decides to strike with WMD first?

I don't get how people are saying we are "attacking in a few days." This U.N. stuff is custom-made to stretch things out forever. Hans Blix has a reputation for being so myopic, he should have been an Independent Counsel investigating the Clintons.
I predict that the time limit will be up, and Iraq will whine that they haven't had sufficient time. Then there will be a bunch of speeches in the U.N., and we'll go round and round again.
I appreciate Pres. Bush's attempt to deal through the U.N. to silence the critics, foreign and domestic. But IMO if Iraq defies the U.N. resolutions according to OUR interpretation--not what France or Syria are going to say next week that they "really" say--this thing is going to go on and on and on.
The upside of this has to be that while the heat is on Saddam, he is likely not able to do much to further his plans to hit us (which I'm convinced he has every intention of doing).

What city will we attack first?
What kind of weapons will we use against Saddam Hussein?
How many troops are we using and where will they be deployed?

I think the secret plan is to drop Maureen Dowd into Baghdad. That will surely disrupt the Iraqi commo networks, as the Iraqi general Staff sits around and tries to decipher any meaning in this drunken, left-wing slut's confused and meandering columns.

In Afghanistan we took over an old airport (airbase?) south of Khandahar in the early days of the ground action. I suspect we will, similarly, take some Iraqi bases and start to parcel up the country from there. Surround the cities, start pumping oil out to pay for the war and establish a new government away from Baghdad.

Loose lips sink ships The media feasts on lies and spews out falsehoods. The administration can count on them every time.

"Its possible this is a fake plan?"
Nah... this it guaranteed to be the one we are going to use any moment now...
(btw: hot stock tip for big $$$ in Iraqi stock market is buy lots of pink bismuth derivitives, as in pepto bismol... heh heh.)
I imagine there will be lots of this in the very immediate future.
