A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-06-02 How Sweet It Is!!

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

HOW SWEET IT IS!

She flies the Florida Flag, and flies it as proudly as she does Old Glory. Below is a recent photo of JulieRNR21 with Katherine Harris, taken at a neighborhood coffee for Ms. Harris' Congressional Campaign. Julie is very active in helping to get, and keep, the Republican candidates in office.

The above was taken from our Spotlight on Julie on July 2, 2002. She has worked so very hard on both Ms. Harris' and Jeb Bush' campaigns, and oh, how sweet the rewards. This morning some of us received an email from Julie, and it was so special I asked her if I could share it here with all of FR. She said yes, and how sweet it us, Friends:
Dear Family & Friends:
As you probably know I'm a Republican who would 'walk over glass' to vote. Well, I've got sore feet today, not from glass but from fire ant bites.
Those nasty stingers got me yesterday when I stood with other dedicated GOP volunteers at the busiest intersections in Sarasota waving signs for JEB and Katherine Harris.
How sweet it is......Clinton, Gore & McAuliffe targeted Florida to defeat JEB and Katherine.....they lost and we won.....big time. Our President put his reputation on the line and campaigned hard for our candidates.....Americans responded by giving him the opportunity to break through the Daschle Senate stonewall!!
Last night we attended the victory party for Katherine Harris at the Sarasota Hyatt. As the evening unfolded...the good news just kept coming from everywhere. All the grassroots 'get out the vote' efforts certainly produced the results we were all hoping for!!!!
I had the chance to tell Katherine Harris: 'Two years ago the Democrats tried to destroy you for following the law. Tonight we sent them a message by sending you to Congress!' She gave me a bear hug and kiss on the cheek and tears filled her eyes!
Then I asked for her autograph on my sign....the one I was waving when those pesky fire ants got me! The sores & swelling will go away in a few days.....but I'll always have that permanent momento of our decisive victory!
Clintonism is dead! Praise be to God!
Viva DUBYA!
Viva JEB!
Viva KATHERINE!
How sweet it is!!!
~Julie

Dear Finest Freeper Friends:

This is truly the dawn of a new day for America! As the great President Reagan remarked: 'It is morning in America!'

America has awakened from the dark night of the Clintons!

Early this morning (3AM) I heard Dick Morris say of the GOP gains in the House & Senate: 'It was the greatest interum victory for a President in American history'. And Jeb made FL history....the first Republican re-elected Governor since the 1870s! Katherine Harris defeated the Clinton's handpicked candidate, their law school pal, Jan Schneider!

Let us pray that the silver spike of this GOP victory has finally stilled the dark heart of Clintonism.

All across this great nation....each one of you has made this bright 'morning in America' a reality....by your prayers, by your efforts, by your personal sacrifices! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I've had three hours sleep and I'm running on pure adrenalin but I wanted to stop by to savor this victory with all of you!

Thank y'all for your kind comments.
After yesterday, I needed those.

The people I was with yesterday are good, honest, hard-working people.

One man came in with Sanchez and Kirk stickers all over his jacket.
The election judge spotted him before I did.
She motioned to one of the clerks and said, "Tell him to remove those stickers or leave - NOW!!"
I was proud of her!

The new electronic voting machines tried in Harris County for the first time yesterday have the ability to be disconnected and taken to the curb outside for disabled voters to be able to vote.
It sounds like a good idea, but I was concerned that it was the same as taking a polling box out of the polling place before the polls close.
The election judge was careful to explain that the computer chip inside will only take one vote while it's disconnected, but I still want verification of that.
I called the Secretary of State, but his line was busy all day!
I did accompany the computer outside each time it left the polling place, but I don't know if other poll watchers will do this.

I formed several conclusions yesterday:

(1) We, as Republicans, need to concentrate on debunking the idea that the Democratic Party is the working man's party.
This idea is so prevalent in working neighborhoods like I was in yesterday that it overshadows all other factors.

(2) Poll watching is probably the most important function we can provide in all elections.
People hate to get involved in doing it because it's a grueling and thankless job, and it occupies a full day.
It is, however, critically important!

(3) Except for learning the laws governing the election process, classes in poll watching are useless.
No one can instruct on how to work in a hostile environment.
Everyone must make their own decisions based on the problems encountered at the time but based on the state laws governing elections.

It was wonderful we were able to send Lindsay Graham to the Senate after the 'taint' of the Impeachment effort.
His opponent, had you seen the debate, was an Old Guard, mush-mouthed Democrat who couldn't debate his way to victory in a contest where every participant wins!

Furthermore, we elected a Republican into the Governor's position, and everyone down the state line except one incumbent Democrat.

HOORAY for SOUTH CAROLINA!
WE were the ones who gave GWB his first Primary Victory on the road to the White House two years ago!
And ah hepped, sistuh!!..:)))
