Considering we call the local paper the libune, I think this is a nice story. Nobody was hurt.

"Everywhere I go, I make people safer, and they don't know it."

The editor must have been falling-down drunk to let a line like that slip through!

How do you draw a pistol from your waistband? Very carefully!

Nice story!

The only thing that could of been better was instead of firing over his head he fired at his feet and said "Now dance for me boy!"

And then, as if it were scripted for television, a man in full Halloween drag, wearing an all-black nylon suit with a skull and crossbones on the front, sauntered up to the scene and said, "What's going on, dude?" Endres said he told the masked man to go get help. That man flagged down a Pizza Hut delivery car and the driver called police...........

And the pizza guy stopped for that ???? Gheeeesh ! Awesome story....

Stay Safe !

Good for Mr. Endres, and I'm glad he's okay. He's obviously a brave man. But don't you love journalists? The perp had prior arrests, or did the author mean convictions? If it was in fact the latter, then what the heck was the perp doing out of jail if he was a serial offender?

But Eric Endres wasn't imitating Barney Fife Saturday night when he stopped a burglar,

Good grief! It was Gomer, not Barney who made the citizen's arrest!

BTW, if they had told me to "drop the gun", I would have firmly but politely explained that this was an expensive gun and that I would very slowly lay it down and move away from it where I would happily lay down.

Great story for us who are soft on the Second Amendment. And I love the line, "people are safer though they don't know it." But what I really want to know is what happened to the halloween cross-dresser and the pizza boy?

"Everywhere I go, I make people safer, and they don't know it. It's the least I can do for my society. As a good citizen, it's a little bit my responsibility to do the best I can and prevent crime. Nobody knows it, because it's always concealed, but I will always risk my life to save others."

This is a very true fact cited in Dave Kopel's reports, the fact is that many people get a "free ride" on the backs of those who take the responsibility of being armed.

Anyone who has a television should know the proper accent to use when saying "citizen's arrest, citizen's arrest."

Well, I'd never say, nor recommend saying, "citizen's arrest". Just say, "Stop! Put your hands in the air! You are under arrest!" followed by some other orders. Never volunteer that you are a "civilian" and never claim to be law enforcement(if you are not). Every person has the legal, common law right to place a person under arrest who is in commission of a forcible felony. Let the perp assume you are a cop who will not hesitate to shoot. If the perp thinks you are a civilian, there is a chance he may think you are reluctant to shoot. So don't even open that can. Tell him to get down and what the reprecussions will be if he doesn't obey.

The story is pretty good, except for the 'Barney' comparison. Implying that an armed citizen is like Barney is a little insulting. With all due respect to Barney Fife.

Oh yeah, like this would happen in NJ. "Stop, or I'll punch you."

Gun-Toting, huh? There only two things that I know of that one can tote...1 is a gun, and the other is that "prop" the Klinton toted around on Sundays. The Bible. Do you know of anything else that can be toted?

In a more leftist state, the headline would read:

Vigilante Fires Shot at Unarmed Citizen. Held Without Bail

Heck, this guy WAS brave. I wouldn't have had the guts to do this.

I'd have no trouble facing down the bad guys, putting my life on the line for the local community (been there, done that), but the prospect of facing California anti-gun law and aggressive, liberal-left prosecutors and judges ... THAT takes courage I just don't have.

It'd be a case of "guilty until proven innocent", and there is no such thing as an "innocent" gun owner in California.

FReegards ... SFS
