A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-04-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

     1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
     2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
     3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
     4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
     5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Morning, Pippin! Seems I haven't seen you in DAYS!!! Texas is one of the states that allows early voting - we have two weeks before the election in which we can go to a designated place and cast our ballot and not have to stand in line on Election Day. I don't know how many states allow it.

Good morning.

Even today, I am planning my tomorrow. Sorry if I'll be late to this thread but I will be voting!

Or, as we DC Freepers like to chant at the Democratic National Committee thugs when they do their get-out-the-vote rallies, "Bring out your dead! Bring out your dead!"

Early voting in person is available in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

"It's real handy, especially for the elderly and others who may have a hard time getting to the polls on a certain day," Rose Mimms, executive director of Arkansas Right to Life, told NRL News. "They can avoid long lines or bad weather on Election Day."

Early voting in Arkansas begins on October 23 at each county clerk's office and ends November 6. Mimms said that the state advertises the availability of early voting, so most voters are aware that it is an option.

Pro-lifers working to educate the public about the candidates' positions on life issues and to get out the vote in these states need to readjust their schedules so that early voters are not overlooked. "We'll make sure we get our voter guide out before early voting starts," Mimms said.

Early voting is one of several attempts to increase voter turnout by letting voters choose how and when to vote. All states allow absentee voting, but most have regulations that limit which voters can receive an absentee ballot, such as those who will be absent from the county on Election Day and the sick or physically disabled.

However, in some states, any registered voter can receive an absentee ballot by mail, even if he or she will be present on Election Day and simply feels it would be more convenient.

Oregon has gone the farthest of any state in trying to ensure high voter turnout. It will be the first state to conduct a presidential election by mail, sending a voting packet to each registered voter. The ballots will be mailed between October 20 and 24 to all voters registered by October 17. Voters will mark their selections, sign the ballots, and return them to the county elections offices by mail or in person. To find out about a certain state's voting regulations, contact your state or county Board of Elections by phone or on the Internet. The Internet is also a convenient place to find voter registration forms, absentee ballot applications, and specific details about where and how to vote.

With our ease of voting, it's not difficult to see the potential for massive 'rat fraud.
