My practical husband went to bed while Dubya was still 50,000 votes ahead, and I stayed up to savor the thrill of victory. Of course, it all went downhill from there. That night turned into one of the loneliest and most discouraging of my life I know exactly what you mean...I had to be at the airport at 7:00 a.m. the next morning, and there I was, shaking my husband awake (who had taken to his bed when he heard al gore was winner in FL) when they announced GWB the winner in FL. When they took it back, I didn't have the heart to wake him. At 3:00 a.m., I finally started packing. By the time I boarded the plane, I had that "flu like" feeling that is a cross between a hangover and pulling an all nighter in college. I fell asleep before we left the gate, and I slept the whole way to my destination.
That "flu like" feeling came back to me when I was reading "How Al Gore Tried to Steal the Election." In fact, I had to quit reading it at bedtime because it by turns made me feel ill and too angry to sleep.

Jesse is causing more trouble for the GOP. We gotta give him credit for slamming the dumpocrap death celebration, though.

Did you hear about the HBO special, about traveling on the bus with the President during the 2000 campaign? We don't take HBO so I'm scrambling to get someone to tape it for me.

I believe CSPAN-2 is airing it live and will show it again tonight (IIRC 8pm, sorry I can't remember if that's ET or not). Lots of folks will be watching Monday Night Football, but at least it's an opportunity for a few more to see/hear it.

FOX news just said Jesse WILL appoint an independent interrim to the senate seat So much for hoping he'd wait till after tomorrow, then appoint landslide victor Coleman.
To: Howlin
Thanks for the ping.
Any update on the Independent candidate's suit to stop the debate because of his exclusion? Will this cause a delay?

Jesse is causing more trouble for the GOP. Wrong! After the "Memorial service"/rally, Ventura has stated several times now that he will NOT appoint a Dem-replacement - more likely someone who has no political track record whatsoever - a true independent, in fact.

If this is accurate, El Diablo D'Asshole oughta be packing because he'll be moving VERY shortly. Of course, I'm assuming that there's not 2 more Jumpin' Jim Jeffords types (a dangerous assumption because Leapin' Linc Chafee Dish already said he's bolting).

So much for hoping he'd wait till after tomorrow, then appoint landslide victor Coleman. Actually, that wouldn't matter if Coleman did win by a landslide. Under Minnesooota law, whoever wins on Tuesday gets the seat the moment the victory is certified (much like Missouri when Jim Talent wins).

What's the deal with the negotiations for this debate? I heard that Mondull claimed he wanted the other candidates, though I find that hard to believe. Did Coleman make a statement about that? I would think the Greenie would help take votes away from Mondull, not Coleman...not sure about the other 3rd party candidate.

I say let 'em ALL debate. The debate shown on C-SPAN on Friday night was great.

You give the sack of hair too much credit. I prefer "thimble of moon dust" when providing a comparison to Algore's "intellect".

Will check back in as soon as I run over to the Cole for Congress office and drop off some things. What a dumb time to have a debate! Guess Mondale didn't want everyone to witness it.
Thanks for the ping!

Is the debate really delayed? Maybe Fritz hasn't had his BM yet and the metamucil is working or maybe he lost his eyeglasses or maybe he doesn't know what day it is. I feel very mean spirited and hateful saying that so I take it all back. I am sure his bowel is no problem at all.

DEBATES HAVEN'T BEEN IMPORTANT SINCE KENNEDY VS. NIXON, until now.....Carnahan's poor performance will cost her, she will lose.
Mitt Romney will win Governor of Taxachussetts because of his opponents poor debate.
Mondull could lose his race if he performs poorly.
