Lighten up. We don't know if this murderer is being considered or classified as an official Islamic terrorist. But we do know, he is a 10 year Army veteran. If he has any real connections to Islamic terrorism, that will eventually come out. It's very early in the final round of this investigation. Be patient.

ping

they could have called him a karate instructor, a robber, a lube/oil store manager....nope....Army Vet. But, of course -- we're all flippin' nutso!

The critical element is "islamic!" But they won't say it.

Ok who said what that got you so upset? Greta? Come on what do you expect from her.

The coverage I saw, earlier in the evening on Fox, Brit Hume, Shepard Smith, and particularly Fred Barnes, was very clear in pointing out Johnny’s association with Islam.

You are right... he is no "lifer". Funny how they make it sound like he received some specialized sniper training while in the military, just because he shot good. He changed his name to Mohammed, and I doubt his rampage had any motives concerning his previous service with the U.S. military.

This is just another way of blaming what happened on anything but what is responsible, Islam and John "Mohammed".

The only positive identification is his military connection. Yes he is a Muslim, but it would be inaccurate for a journalist to delve into speculation as to Islamicist connections as of yet.

I have no problem with holding off yet proclaiming the Muslim label. Everyone knows he is a Muslim by his name as it is; it is not rocket science to determine this.

Not to mention..."Gulf War veteran"...

but...don't despair...this really doesn't seem the focus of the news coverage I've seen. Earlier, I very cynically asked my better half for his opinion: "one guess, 'hon'...emphasis on black muslims or Gulf war vets?" Surprisingly, he said "blacks", Muslim or not.

All kinds of opinions out there, clearly, but the Jamaican "quasi-stepson" and the year(s) in Antigua (among other things) make me think this suspect's military background is the least contributory to his problems (or as Rummy said..."You've got to be kidding!")

I saw Fred Barnes tonight turning crimson while railing against all the PC reportage and scorning those who avoided the dreaded ISLAMIC TERRORISTS label.

Even Columbo didn't need this many clues.

I'm with you. If they need to mention the military angle, they should always say he was a only DRIVER who was DISHONORABLY DISCHARGED after an attempted peacetime fragging!!!!

This Gulf War vet had a little too much nerve gas in Iraq. Yep, that's it.

But the lead is: "Army Vet"
As a 20 year Army retiree, I deeply resent this, but I resent even more the politically correct culture that makes it impossible to call an islamic terrorist an islamic terrorist.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The leftist media (But I repeat myself) is going to have *a lot* of trouble spinning this that way. They've been trying ever since Oswald shot Kennedy (I remember the posters saying "The Marine Corps Builds Oswalds"). It didn't stick then, and it won't stick now.

The guy took up Islam, changed his name to Mohammed, and started sniping people after Al Quaeda declared war on civilization. *That's* what's going to stick - and the media can keep spinning until they burn up from the friction (I should live to see that...), and they won't change the public perception in that regard one bit.

In this case, the inherent simplicity of the average person's outlook on things will work in our favor, not against us...

Muhammed joined the National Guard in Louisiana at the age of 18. He served there for 7 years until he was 25. From age 25 to 34, he was active duty military. From 34 to 35 he was a member of the Oregon National Guard. He left as a buck seargent, but he was in the military in one shape or form for 17 of his 24 adult years.

Again, his islamic conversion is most assuredly his impetus for being a psychotic murderer, but to say this guy was a vet is accurate. He was wearing a uniform during the Carter, Reagan, Bush I, and Clinton administrations.

That guy is more of an Army vet than an "Islamic" terrorist. He only converted to Islam last year - meaning it was a superficial "conversion", merely a traitor's response to 9/11.

I love FNC, but I am sick of their TOTAL DEVOTION to the sniper story. There's more news out there to cover. I'd like to hear about the 3 Americans held hostage in Moscow. I had to turn on nbc to hear any news about it.
Are you listening FOX???????????????

Watched last night's BBC News World Report (whatever it's called, airs on PBS). Was pleased to see that their report on the sniper was very upfront with his conversion to Islam, participat ion in the Million Man March, etc.. Seems though, that the regular network news are deliberately withholding that little bit of information or wait til the very end to briefly mention it.

"The truth is that..."

That -- unfortunately -- was your first mistake.

Surely you must realize exactly *what* we're talking about here?
The American Liberal-Socialist Lamestream media.

...of which, *FoxNews* is a just another part.
