My best friend, a staunch conservative, had a similiar Jimmy Carter thing in '76...but she unbelievably still sticks up for him! I think it's one of these 'trying to retain youthful exuberance' things.

Sorry, I have to be careful. I know there are conservative democrats. Not many, though.

Missed most of the a.m. I had to get some work done. Saw the Moose Alert!
I wonder if this is going to be another cryptic communique?

"The 20th Maine was thrust into the cauldron of fire under their new commander Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. Upon being attacked on Little Round Top by elements of the 15th and 42nd Alabama regiments, the 20th bent back upon itself in an "L" shape, and repelled attacks on both fronts. Again and again they were attacked, and finally upon running out of ammunition they fixed bayonets and swung down the hill rounding up the entire Confederate enemy to their front. Their actions saved the position and the entire left flank of the Union Army at Gettysburg that day."And now, airhead cub journalists from CNN worry us, Americans, with thoughts about Halloween and grief counselors and panic in the nation's capital? Where is the stuff Americans are made of? We need a lot more Joshua Chamberlains and his men at this time. To face down these scoundrels without fear, to live our lives, and to prevail.
(Sorry to the 'rebs' on FR, but courage is courage...and you are American, too!).
Thought this little inspiration from our American heritage would be a good way to warm up to Chief Moose's next talk. Keep the faith, keep the spirit, keep the tradition.....

Yep. I think that's why many businesses offer safe, indoor activities. Plus, it usually is snowing on Halloween here.

Our best friends got married on Oct. 5th and went to Hawaii. They got back other day. I was talking to them about the sniper case and told them dont worry, JIMMY CARTER is on it..LOL...

I was 18 the first time and my college roommate talked me into it! Really, it wasn't my fault. I lived in the same room with her. It was Stockholm Syndrome. Let me see, i guess my first vote was for Bush/Quayle in 1992. My mother was a California liberal, but i got my politics from my grandparents

Yes, you remind me. Also speaking was Montgomery County Executive Douglas Duncan.

I lived through ...and Jimmy Carter's horrible presidency! LOL! Yes, the man who appeared on television wearing a sweater to tell us we just had to bear it, all was lost, the thermostat could never be set over 68 again, etc.,etc. Talk about depressing! The left loves to be depressed!
But I think you're right, being prepared doesn't hurt, either. And that's not the same as cowering, it's just being realistic.
However, I should add that I don't really think there's anything worse in the works right now - well, worse than the chance of being picked off while you're sitting on the bus, which is horrible enough. But there probably will be, sooner or later.

"So did we. Usually we buy candy and hide it all over the apartment. Then we turn the kids loose with buckets to go find the candy.GOOD idea mhking! I like it! So many parents drive their kids from house to house and it just puts more cars on the Trick or Treat path....last time we took the grandson out (a few years ago), I saw a very unhealthy mix of small kids on foot and cars all over, backing up and/or turning around in driveways, in the dark...NOT GOOD.

Good for you Gal!
Kat, who is not impotent - Fuhrman or the sniper(s)?
To: mhking
How much does it cost to buy off the Devil? Very eloquently put, mhking.

When that thread goes up, I'm going to solicit there for advice on How To Appear To One's Boss That One's Working, When One's Really Staying Abreast Of Breaking News.

I forgot to tell you...when I was a kid, I used to ask my dad what party he was. He always said, "Neither." Dad always called then "dumb Democrats" and "rotten Republicans". He's kinda grumpy!
And today he is an independent.

Simply do this. Have a CD case next to your computer, your headphones on, but really listen to live events over the web. Be sure to move your head back and forth like you're really listening to music though. It sells it. Humming a few bars every now and then works too. For video, simply have the window minimized and then hide your task bar.

At lease you got some work done. I've got to get those potatoes and get them peeled and cut to go in my roast which has been slow cooking for a few hours. Not enough hours in the day. Did we get maybe 3 hours sleep this a.m.?
To: all4one
Thanks, I'll add it to my collection.
To: bcoffey
Aw shucks, thanks.
