Beltway Sniper attempted contact last night !

Very short press conference where he simply states that the Beltway Sniper attempted contact and Chief Moose requested that he call them back.

A talking head on FOX news Sunday ( terrorist expert not afraid to say "terrorism") said the snipping could have just been a diversion - keepng attention elsewhere so the real killers could work on something MUCH bigger.

Ah, but what the terrorist don't know is that Chief Moose is our diversion. We keep them laughing while we are closing in on them.

I think the message is legit. I think the shooters are taunting the police and grabbing the limelight.

They won't call the number they provided, unless it is within minutes of their next shooting, and it will be two words, "Too late."

I'd guess the number is either a public phone or some police person's desk line in MD or VA.

The shooters have upped the ante and I'm afraid they'll continue to shoot (away from the beltway) and continue to get away with it. These are my perceptions at this point in time.

Did MOOSE learn that at the college of comedy knowledge where he supposedly received his PHD? Ah yes, Doctor Moose I presume. The residents of Montgomery County sure have to feel safe knowing that MOOSE is matching wits with the sniper! Why do I get the feeling that a movie is in the works with Chief Moose dispatching Inspector Clouseau to capture the Pink Panther?

But, truthfully I really feel sorry for the people in that area who are putting their faith in an inept law enforcement agency chief to protect them.

As long as it takes. The kids are learning nothing but tree hugging anyway. Nothing will be lost but free babysitting.
If there's a 1 in a million chance a kid could get hit, would you want to be the mother of that one for the sake of a stupid public school and it's government funding?
They should have shut them down much sooner, and the 13 year old wouldn't have been hit.

High-velocity rifle bullets (i.e. 3-4 times the speed of sound) have a distinctly different "crackling" sound.

Sorta like,if you don't release so and so by xx hours we will release certain toxins into air in richmond area,or words to that effect.If there was some sort of emergency tomorrow,you would want the least amount of traffic on the road,not a bunch of parents rushing to school to jerk their kids out of class.

Yes, or - from what Moose said "We do want to talk to you", it sounds as if the message said something like "I tried calling you at your office but the line was always busy. Aren't you interested in talking to me?" So they've now rerouted calls and cleared up that number?

...killer has left messages at other crime scenes-- besides the tarot card we know about. The messages specifically tell the cops not to release the details of the message.

I heard on one of the news stations earlier today that there's been messages/clues left at all the other shooting areas...
I think the cops DO know a LOT more than what's been told..and those few days when there weren't any shootings, the cops might have been working w/ the sniper and last nite when the shooting occurred, might have been something that po'd the sniper, so he went and shot another person just to show the cops that he meant business and proved his point...

My thoughts exactly since my first post on the subject 2 weeks ago. No need to be patronizing, though. This isn't a very popular theory around here. Most posters go for the muslim terrorists theory. (They could be right and I try to keep an open mind about it.)

The police in MD. said the schools were safe and a student in Bowie got shot. There was heavy speculation that the sniper reacted to the "our schools are safe" messsage.

This does not bode well for the kids that will be playing outside in those counties tomorrow.

Notice how he/she did more bragging about how much money their school was able to scam from the taxpayers, and nothing about the lives of the students. To a public school, students aren't humans, they're dollar signs!

Let's say these are terrorists. He wears a disguise so he won't be recognized by store surveillance camera and purchases a phone from someplace like a convenience store using fake i.d. Are those phones cash and carry or do you have to provide a credit card to get one?

And when the post 9/11 investigations were first in swing didn't they bust some guys here in FL that were into providing all these things like credit cards and i.d.?Isn't it possible that there won't be a paper trail that will actually lead them anywhere? It seems obvious the shooter is planning these things in advance because he's getting away so easily.

But we don't know for sure if the Moose's statement was really to have them call him or if it's just a code message of some sort.

That's a horrifying thought, but given the scale of the reaction going on now (closing of all of those schools, etc.) it's certainly not impossible.

Granted, it would be terrible even if it were a lone psycho and even if only one more person were killed. But I think it's probably in a whole different league.
