ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Police in the Washington suburb where five people were gunned down in two days are looking for two "Hispanic" men in the fatal shootings, according to a police bulletin that federal authorities shared with WorldNetDaily.

Montgomery County Police in press conferences have described only the gender, not the race, of the two suspects -- one a driver and the other the shooter.

The be-on-the-lookout, or BOLO, alert that local police sent out earlier today to all law enforcement agencies also described in detail the "white box truck" used by the snipers.

The six-wheeled vehicle resembles a commercial delivery truck, police say. The cab is smaller than, and separate from, the large box-shaped cargo area, which is completely enclosed. The rear passenger side of the bumper has been damaged. And there is block-lettering on the side and rear of the truck.

A Montgomery County Police spokesman confirmed that the BOLO describes the suspects in the sniper slayings as "Hispanic."

But he cautioned that they could be another non-white race.

"We do not count on them being two Hispanic males," said Officer Derek Baliles. "Appearances can be interpreted. We do not want to limit anything at all."

"It's possible," he added, that the suspects could be Middle Eastern.

He also cautioned that their eyewitness account of the suspects is not solid.

Baliles says the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is examining bullet fragments in two other shootings to see if they are connected to the other five, which occurred Wednesday and Thursday.

A 72-year-old man Thursday night was shot to death on a Washington street corner. And a Virginia woman this afternoon was shot in the back at a crafts store. Her condition was not immediately known.

ATF ballistics experts have determined that a high-velocity rifle firing a .223-caliber bullet was used in at least three of the shootings. The bullet is used in hunting rifles and M-16s and makes a large wound as it enters the body.

The police spokesman says FBI profilers will put together a "word picture" Saturday morning to try to make sense of the unusual crime and come up with a possible motive.

Authorities are not ruling out terrorism.

Baliles says the Secret Service has assigned at least one agent to the case. The Office of Homeland Security and CIA are not involved, he says.

The shooters took very select shots of random strangers, and appear to be trained in marksmanship. All six victims who died were killed with a single shot, some apparently shot in the head, although Baliles would not confirm that.

Is the .223 bigger than the .22? Sorry, dumb here.

The bullet is the same diameter, but it's longer and heavier than the .22 rimfire, in all in it's various versions: short, long, long-rifle, magnum, max, etc. The catridge case is much larger, which means it holds much more powder which in turn means that that heavier, longer .223 round is going much faster when it leaves the barrel. That in turn means it has much more momentum and much, much more energy. (Momentum=mass * velocity, Energy = mass * velocity * velocity / 2)

I counted seven cartridges that use the same bullet as a .223 Reminton although chances are the killers are using a .223 Remington. If there are any groove marks on the bullet, the authorities can narrow it down even more as far as what type of rifle was used.

They retrieved a bullet that entered a store through window. It landed by a book>

I'd forgotten about that one. I stand corrected.

And that's what it is, a guess. An educated one of course. That is the most likely catridge/bullet, if they are using mil surplus ammunition or commerical equivalent. But it seems to me these scrotes are just has likely to have something set up for a heavier bullet and higher velocities and be using other than FMJ ammunition, for better accuracy and/or longer effective range.

All Bush has to do is LISTEN to the average American and he'll get reelected. If he keeps ignoring us, he won't.

Clinton ignored the "average American" (as you define it) for eight years, and got a consistently high public approval rating. Buchanan listened to the "average American" in 2000, and got less than half of one percent of the vote.

The average American family would sooner save $60 a year on their grocery bill, in the form of illegal immigrants picking their produce, than save the $3000+ a year they pay in taxes just to pay for the Not-So-Great Society.

If you think the average American is with you, how about calling up 250,000 of the unorganized militia to man the border? Why wait for Uncle Sugar to do it for you?

Whoops! It's been done already. Nobody showed up.

and with the arming of aliens(legal and illegal),

As if any law against aliens buying firearms would stop the practice, any more than prohibitions on felons (on parole even) buying guns stops them from obtaining them if they want them. Their guns can, if necessary come in the same way drugs do. Mostly though they use stolen weapons. Stolen from civilians, from the military and police. Or weapons bought "on the left" from the Sgt. in charge of the armory, or the police weapons locker, or from the few unscrupulous gun dealers. There are lots of sources for those willing to break the law. Laws only disarm the law abiding.

Truth is a forgotten compliment of politicians

The average American family would sooner save $60 a year on their grocery bill, in the form of illegal immigrants picking their produce, than save the $3000+ a year they pay in taxes just to pay for the Not-So-Great Society.

If we were allowed by the media and our politicians to tell the truth, it wouldn't take very long to educate the average American family.

If you think the average American is with you, how about calling up 250,000 of the unorganized militia to man the border? Why wait for Uncle Sugar to do it for you?

I'm glad you think of the DC politicians as "Uncle Sugar" because I sure don't.

Whoops! It's been done already. Nobody showed up.

The ones who have attempted to maintain their personal property from illegals have been harrased and/or by law enforcement. If we were allowed to show up and enforce the laws on the border, I guarantee that illegal immigration and the drug smuggling by desert would come to a screeching halt. Just a few roaming patrols could accomplish the task.

I just find it unlikely that they are using anything odd like a PPC 22 or a 22 BR Remington. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they had a heavy barrel varmint type rifle from one of our leading manufactures.
My fear is that they could have a sniper fire support team with them for the one time they get found out. One sniper and a truck load of guys with AR's. They might have other vehicles with scouts using cell phones to keep track of the cops before they shoot. To catch these guys the cops are going to have to cordon off a hit immediately after it happens, and search every car and person. I think they better be ready for a big fire fight.

The murder suspects appear to be minorities, but the media will not report it...

Profiling swarthy guys alert. How dare they.

People of color (not colored people mind you) should be outraged, especially since their government has effectively disarmed them.

Hispanics just killed 5 in Nebraska and now it seems hispanics have done it again in DC area. More confirmation for racial profiling.

200 yard effective range? You're wrong, unless the target is a chicken egg or an eye ball.

Modestly tuned, a .223 rifle bolt or semi-auto can be very "reliable" beyond 1/4 mile. Besides the shooter's skill, the attack truck/car limiting factor is the vehilcle's own vibration/wobble transmitted to the muzzle of the weapon.

If you were allowed to do this, if you were allowed to do that...

That is the problem. You and your fellows need permission from the media and the government before you try to do anything about this problem...because you are all cowards.

Well, fighting illegal aliens sneaking across the border and fighting US troops and/or the Border Patrol are two entirely different things. Which do you propose we should attack first?

Yes, I know it IS terrorism, no matter who perpetrated it.
My feeling is and was that it is FundiMuslim-based terrorism. I know of no chain of murders like this in current US History that is domestically-grown and/or bred.
