ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Police in the Washington suburb where five people were gunned down in two days are looking for two "Hispanic" men in the fatal shootings, according to a police bulletin that federal authorities shared with WorldNetDaily.

Montgomery County Police in press conferences have described only the gender, not the race, of the two suspects -- one a driver and the other the shooter.

The be-on-the-lookout, or BOLO, alert that local police sent out earlier today to all law enforcement agencies also described in detail the "white box truck" used by the snipers.

The six-wheeled vehicle resembles a commercial delivery truck, police say. The cab is smaller than, and separate from, the large box-shaped cargo area, which is completely enclosed. The rear passenger side of the bumper has been damaged. And there is block-lettering on the side and rear of the truck.

A Montgomery County Police spokesman confirmed that the BOLO describes the suspects in the sniper slayings as "Hispanic."

But he cautioned that they could be another non-white race.

"We do not count on them being two Hispanic males," said Officer Derek Baliles. "Appearances can be interpreted. We do not want to limit anything at all."

"It's possible," he added, that the suspects could be Middle Eastern.

He also cautioned that their eyewitness account of the suspects is not solid.

Baliles says the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is examining bullet fragments in two other shootings to see if they are connected to the other five, which occurred Wednesday and Thursday.

A 72-year-old man Thursday night was shot to death on a Washington street corner. And a Virginia woman this afternoon was shot in the back at a crafts store. Her condition was not immediately known.

ATF ballistics experts have determined that a high-velocity rifle firing a .223-caliber bullet was used in at least three of the shootings. The bullet is used in hunting rifles and M-16s and makes a large wound as it enters the body.

The police spokesman says FBI profilers will put together a "word picture" Saturday morning to try to make sense of the unusual crime and come up with a possible motive.

Authorities are not ruling out terrorism.

Baliles says the Secret Service has assigned at least one agent to the case. The Office of Homeland Security and CIA are not involved, he says.

The shooters took very select shots of random strangers, and appear to be trained in marksmanship. All six victims who died were killed with a single shot, some apparently shot in the head, although Baliles would not confirm that.

Well, at least whitey's off the hook.

So much for the profilers.

I wonder when people will realize that profiling is the current equivalent of phrenology, or voodoo.

The .223 comes in several cartridge sizes and powder loads. There is a hunting cartridge called the .223 Bee that is the fastest velocity in the world of small arms ammunition. Over 5,00 feet per second muzzle velocity. It is a necked down 30.06 cartridge case with a .22 cal bullet. It has such a high velocity that it tends to wobble in flight and has been criticized for this reason. Up to three hundred yards it has practically a flat trajectory but over that distance is very unreliable. The police investigators should be able to determine the type of .223 used if they can find the distance from the victims.

This is a long barreled hunting rifle and scope if the shots were as accurate as the authorities maintain. The M-16 does not have a long enough barrel to project the accuracy they are talking about. Two hundred yards is the maximum range for a sure shot. At that distance the velocity of the bullet causes the same knockdown power of the 30.06 in spite of the small bullet size.

Very impressive -- a storybook of the crime. I hope it will be in color and have lots of "word pictures" of guns and and white trucks. I can hardly wait.

Thanks for that post. Everyone, myself included, should take a few minutes to absorb your post. I already did and realize now that I have a cannon in my closet;^)

Considering the stubbornness of the Arab accent, I doubt they would blend in very well, trying to speak Spanish.

Does that include the H-Bar (heavy barrel) version of the AR15, Bushmaster, etc.?

Now, now.... you know in your heart that these scumbags just come here for 'a better life' and to steal the jobs that lazy Americans won't do (like slash the throats of bus drivers, rape and murder nuns, do mass murders, decimate neighborhoods, kill cops and flee to Mexico to hide, etc.). They arent 'terorists'. Uh huh. The check is in the mail, too.

Actually it makes a large wound (sometimes) as it exits the body. Entrance wounds are .22" unless the bullet "keyholed" in flight, in which case the person hit was probably not the intended target. Also, I bet they don't really know it was a .223, if by that they mean the .223 cartridge/bullet combination. Probably all they know is the diameter of the bullet was .223". Many rounds use .22 caliber bullets of the same, or nearly the same size. In fact the exact same bullet can be used in different rounds. Other rounds use bullets that are very nearly the same diameter and lenght.

The article's written to give us the impression the source is eyewitness descriptions. Why do I think the source is a security videotape?

This article says Authorities are said to have a description of the shooters but are not releasing it. They've reviewed video tapes from security cameras at some of the businesses where the shootings took place.

If Bush wanted troops protecting our borders he is the one with the authority to do so, not Tiny Dashle. All Bush has to do is LISTEN to the average American and he'll get reelected. If he keeps ignoring us, he won't.

It's odd how I read on another thread that it has been reported that the suspects are white males. Of course, whether that is true or not, "Hispanics" are usually counted as white in crime statistics. I'm concerned that the gun grabbers are going to use these horrible acts to try to remove our second amendment rights.

congress holds the purse strings.
soldiers on unauthorized (financially speaking) deployments may not be authorized for being paid.

UNLESS he uses the war powers act, and singles out mexico to congress as a hostile nation, it is doubtful he could use his power as commander in cheif to close the borders with our neighbors... by use of force.

DASCHLE is the problem. And part of homeland security involves the policing of our borders...

Troops on the borders DO require congressional approval, for a whole host of reasons... not the least of which is the budget for paying the expenses there of... there are issues of posse comititus and such as well as others.

the homeland security requested by Bush, allows such things in measure... Daschle IS the problem. Always has been.

My feeling from the beginning of this story is that this was the work of terrorists, and in the weeks following 9-11-2001 I thought that random drive-by executions could be one of the almost limitless ways terrorists could "express themselves".

When I see Bush kissing Fox's butt about the poor migrants, I can't put all of the blame on Daschle.

couldn't be an example of controlled media for a good reason?
...if so, do we want to give up another right under these circumstances?

Uh, I think this IS terrorism. no matter what ethnicity the perp turns out to be. None of these people are connected. It's random assassinations by drive-by, AFAIK. That's terrorism to me.

The Democrats will be devastated if they can't pin this on white boy NRA "extremists".

Yeah. Remember when H. Rap Brown (aka Jabril Abdullah Al-Amin the Muslim cleric) pulled out a Mini-14 and shot two sheriff's deputies in March 2000, executing one as he lay bleeding on the ground? The silence of the anti-gun lunatics was deafening.
