Sure Sign of New Jersey Win

Here's a sure sign that the Supreme Court is going to issue an injunction against the New Jersey Supreme Court decision that allowed the switch of Lautenberg for Torricelli.
Watch for breaking news reports tomorrow that the Justices of the US Supreme Court are coming/have come into the building on a Saturday. If they are there, they'll be writing a majority decision reversing and enjoining the New Jersey Supreme Court, plus of course writing one or more dissenting opinions.
Here's how I know that is so: 1) Requests for emergency relief are granted within 24 to 48 hours. 2) If relief is goiong to be denied, the opinions are short and they "phone it in." The opposite is true if they are going to grant the relief. 3) The Justices do not come into the Court on a Saturday just to wax the floor and count the silverware.
In December, 2000, I was asked to give an update on the Bush-Gore case in the Supreme Court to a group of 600 or so state legislators, meeting in Washington at a luncheon meeting. Minutes before lunch began I heard that the Justices had come into the building on a Saturday. With my experience in requesting emergency relief in that Court (and obtaining it once, in a presidential race), I knew exactly what that meant. I told the state legislators, "Before your second cup of coffee gets cold at the end of this luncheon, the Supreme Court will issue its injunction against the Florida decision, and the vote will be 6-3."
Before that meeting ended, the word came that the Court had done what I predicted. I missed the vote by one, it was 5-4.
Exactly the same logic applies in the New Jersey case. If they come in on Saturday, it's over for Lautenberg.
Just watch the breaking news, and if the Justices come in tomorrow, post it here and wait about two hours for the official announcement of the Order.
By contrast, if the Justices do NOT come in tomorrow, they are probably NOT going to issue an injunction. Time is too critical for them to wait until Monday to act.

Nice informed observation, Congressman Billybob.
What is your prediction, if I may be so bold? Will they hear it?

I thought it was 7-2 ..... that the 5-4 was on the remedy and not the decision itself. I'm not questioning you ...... just seeking clarification for my own edification.

Well, we can't wait for a new announcement. Can't we station some freepers outside the court to keep watch?

I think Forrester is better off if the SC does not act. Let him use the Democrats' hypocrisy and cavalier attitude towards the rule of law as a campaign issue. Voters will respond and reward him on election day. Conversely, a politicized SC decision favorable to Forrester --- shades of Florida 2000 --- could come back to bite him at the polls.

I hope that they issue an injunction because it is the right thing to do. Unfortunately, it is also the only thing that can save Toricelli. If the Supreme Court doesn't allow the switch, the Democrats will use it as a ploy to fire up the ignorant to support Toricelli as a way to attack the Republicans. As usual, the Democrats have effective tactics but are destroying our nation.
