A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

ONE OF FR's FINEST
and
THE WINNER OF THE 2001 FREEPER OF THE YEAR AWARD
JEFF HEAD Freeper Since 07-26-98
We are pleased to honor the Recipient of the 2001 Freeper of the Year Award, Jeff Head.
Jeff Head accepted this award at FRIVA in August 2002. He received this honor due to his involvement at Klamath Falls and as a result of his work with respect to several issues associated with 9-11 which is outlined at Attack on America It memorializes the horrific events of September 11, 2001.
Jeff Head lives in Southwest Idaho with his wife of over 24 years. He is the proud father of five and the grandfather of one. He is very active in his Church and is involved with the Boy Scouts of America, helping with rafting trips and winter camps.
Jeff Head has enjoyed a successful career as an engineer in the defense,, nuclear power and computer industries for over 23 years Since 1995, he has traveled extensively overseas, including visits to the Far East, India and portions of Eastern Europe, on behalf of U.S. firms.
Jeff Head is a patriotic activist extraodinaire. His American patriotic roots run deep and he is, in fact, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Jeff Head has been very involved in a number of activities including Pledge of Allegiance Petitition March for Liberty and 50 Million Round March (in response to the Million Mom March) Modern Declaration of Liberty petition Klamath Falls WTC Flag Raising Petition Jarbridge NV Shovel Brigade
If you are new to Free Republic, or did not follow the Stand at Klamath Falls, I strongly urge you to read the very well written and organized account of it. Here is the link again.
US FlagCode
Jeff Head has photographs of the U.S. flag displayed upside down on his Profile Page and Web Page. According to the U.S. Flag Code, "(a)The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property." So why does Jeff display the flag with the union down?
Here, in his own words, is the rationale: "As a result of the unconstitutional acts, legislation and atrocities passed and/or committed by government agencies and officials against increaing numbers of US citizens and their life, liberty and property ... and as a result of policies that have allowed (and continue to allow) enemies of this nation to enter in large numbers through a porous immigration policy, I believe the life, liberty and property of US Citizens are in extreme and dire danger and distress."
As mentioned previously, Jeff Head is active in the Boy Scouts of America. Please visit the links below to read Jeff's excellent accounts of two major outings he went on with the Scouts. Included also are more beautiful photographs of the magnificent Idaho outdoors.
Varsity Scouting Float Trip...... "It was a marvelous scouting experience, filled with the camraderie of good, upright young men and beautiful scenery. The types of things that will always keep this nation strong."
Winter Camp....."The trip up to this Winter Camp is very beautiful and scenic. The pictures make it clear why some of us weather the cold and chose to be up here in this environment, truly a wonderful part of "God's country".
"Dragon's Fury Series"

Good Morning Fine FReeper, Jeff Head

During the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1975, helicopter crews were able to locate their fellow Marines on the ground by asking them to "pop a smoke" in the landing zone. The brightly colored smoke grenade identified the ground unit and landing zone and provided wind information to the pilot. Today, we are reuniting those individuals on the ground with the individuals who flew as flight crew on those missions. We are asking them to Pop A Smoke so that we can find each other.

Sybil Ludington Women's Freedom Award
On the night of April 26, 1777, a wounded messenger barely reaches the home of New York militia officer Henry Ludington with desperate news of a British attack on nearby Danbury, Connecticut. Munitions and supplies for the entire region's militia were at stake, and with not a moment to spare, Colonel Ludington turned to his 16-year old daughter, Sybil for help. While he organized the local militia, Sybil mounted her horse and galloped through the night to rally troops in the surrounding countryside. Trekking on dirt roads that were unknown to her, Sybil never lost sight of her mission -- to alert the patriots about the British attack, thereby preserving the cause of freedom. By risking her life that dark and desolate night, Sybil made a profound difference in America's successful pursuit to become a free and independent nation. For her act of courage, General Washington and General Rochambeau personally thanked her. Now to honor her accomplishment and the accomplishments of modern heroines, the National Rifle Association bestows the prestigious Sybil Ludington Women's Freedom Award in her name.
