A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

“Mugged” in New York!

A whirlwind of activity most appropriately describes a FReeper by the name of n.y.muggs. A member of Free Republic since November 29, 1998, he is an energetic and politically active person who aspires to a position in local N.Y. politics.

When he’s not hot on his own campaign trail, n.y.muggs is actively participating in the elections of others. And, when he’s not out stumping for his favorite candidates, he’s organizing and participating in FReeps. Talk about burning the candle at both ends!

A n.y.muggs FReep is more like a good ole’ N.Y. mugging! No holds barred, pull out the stops… if you’re the object of a n.y.muggs Freep, you’re gonna be hurtin’ for certain! Just ask a certain “Junior Senator” from the great state of New York:

“Go Home Hillary” Freep. n.y.muggs is on the right. Wait…isn’t that former Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the center?

Along with Freeping dreaded politicians, n.y.muggs finds time to rub shoulders with admired politicians, as well:

     2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
     3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
     4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.

Glad to hear about your MIL and how successful her cataract surgery was! I always wish I had the nerve to have lasik (?) done so I would not need contacts anymore. It would be great to be able to wake up and SEE!

My husband had it done a couple years ago and is thrilled with the results. I can't wear contacts and lasik surgery would correct my vision some, but not enough so that I would not have to wear glasses, so I am waiting for technology to catch up to my vision problem. I can't wait!

In the mean time, I'm composing a post in honor of my maternal uncle, who turns 80 in November. He was in the Canadian military during WWII.

Everyone is probably eating dinner. I've been in bed all afternoon shuddering the germs out of my throat. The two miracles have done it once more. Prayer is the first miracle and works every time. Thank you everyone. Massive doses of Vitamin C with Rose Hips has never failed me yet. It works better and faster than Pennicilin without side effects and without creating resistant viruses. I take 2000 mg every 4 hours and drink lots of liquids. Then I go to bed and focus on healing with prayer. I can feel my body responding to those two cures. My sore throat is gone. Just a little scratchy now. I'll keep taking the Cs for several days, cutting back a little on dosage each day. I find that people have trouble believing that this works, but I have proved it hundreds of times on myself. I don't enjoy being sick, so I have to get over it quick.
