A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

To Our FReeper FRiends:   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our spotlight on various FReepers. We've been kicking back on the weekends where we simply review those who've been featured during the week. It's been three months since our debut, and some have been asking for a 'list' of those who've held center stage in the past. As one of our strongest supporters has been calling those who've been profiled, the "Hall of Famers", it seems fitting then to add a regular "Hall of Fame" thread to our list. It will be updated on a regular basis....maybe every three months? :)

As I was 'gathering' these threads to make links, I couldn't help noticing how much longer and more detailed our profiles have become! Apologies to the early Hall of Famers if you feel short-changed - who knew we would be getting paid by the word later? :)

. We have a lot of houses painted sorta that color (even brick), with white trim, black shutters and a red door. Really quite striking!

I like the way that sounds. I have already painted the trim and door white and was thinking of painting the shutters a brownish burgundy.
BTW...do you own rental properties or were you just talking about the houses in your area?

We are presently at Flinders Islands S.E. of Wilsons Promontory in the Bass Straight between Tasmania and Australia. Understand there is a nasty hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico headed toward central US Gulf coast. I'll take the cold and wet here over the Gulf tonight!

Crew is fine. LadyX has got everyone up to snuff on dealing with the Aussies -- how to properly communicate in their language, avoiding major errors, dress codes and other important things needed in dealing with the natives. It is suggested the crew, except for Scuttlebutt and Cobby, of course, wear clothes when we get there as the Aussies are quite prudish and shy.

It is noted no one has hauled in Fred Mertz tonight and I suspect he might need a jacket out there as his green neon speedo may not be sufficient. We could send humblegunner, but he is busy tossing grenades at some local fishermen, claiming they 'dissed' him somehow.

We sail for the mainland early tomorrow. Razorback-bert needs to do a head count. Pippin's hair seems to be growing back. Maybe WVNan's rubbing lodwick's weather forecasting chicken bones on Pippin's head has helped.

Thud's asleep. I'm turning in early.
