Hillary: Monica Missiles Not 'Wag the Dog'

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton said Sunday that critics who complained that her husband "wagged the dog" four years ago when he launched 70 cruise missiles at targets linked to Osama bin Laden were "dead wrong," even though the attacks coincided precisely with the day Monica Lewinsky testified before the Sexgate grand jury.

During her appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press," host Tim Russert asked Mrs. Clinton about the Monica missile critics, saying, "As you well remember, in 1998, when President Clinton launched some missiles into Afghanistan, people suggested that he was wagging the dog, trying to cover up the impeachment investigation."

"And they were dead wrong," the ex-first lady shot back indignantly.

"And, you know, it was heartbreaking because, you know, you saw how politics could undermine what was a legitimate effort to try to take out Osama bin Laden," she complained.

"There was intelligence about where he was going to be at a certain time," Sen. Clinton insisted. "The missiles had a window to be launched. We were able to take out apparently, according to reports, some of the training camp people, but not him."

Clinton then criticized the Monica missile allegation as beyond the pale.

"You know, I don't know of any president - and I think I can say this without regard to party or any other consideration - who would knowingly do something for political reasons that is that serious," she argued.

But in remarks moments before the top Democrat suggested that some in the Bush administration might be wagging the dog with the war on terrorism.

"Well, there may be some in the administration who are trying to do that," she said, when asked about charges by Clinton operative James Carville that Bush advisors Karl Rove and Andrew Card were politicizing the war effort.

Moments later she revisited the allegation, telling Russert, "What I hope doesn't happen is that anyone around any president or anyone supporting any president tries to make political hay out of such a serious issue."

Clinton warned that if the Bush White House was found to be "wagging the dog" in the war on terror, the president would pay a price at the polls.

"I would just say that, you know, things have a funny way of working out," she predicted.

"And if there is a hint of this being a political issue as opposed to what it should be, an issue of the utmost importance to our national security - you know, I've concluded over many years the American voter is pretty smart, and they can smell it, they can see it and they will act on it."

Your husband did it all the time. He (and you) would do anything for money and/or power, irrespective of the consequences to the country. Pardon Marc Rich? Needed the bucks. Pardoned some Puerto Rican terrorists? Needed some Hispanic votes in NY. Lied to a Grand Jury? Obstructed justice? Committed rape? All for the good of the country.

She just might be President soon"...

I am nearly sure that these Democrats today are so stupid, so angry and vindictive about 2000, and there IS the woman factor (and we know how many moronic women will just vote for a woman because she's a woman)....that she will most definately win one day. It's all in the numbers, and more moron liberal socialists are coming out of our school system (highschool and universities) and more citizens sucking off the government as each day passes. She will get elected. To show how bizarre it is getting in this country, it won't be too long that it will be IMPOSSIBLE to get a majority of Americans to vote for a TAX CUT !!!!!!!!!!Because most of them will have begun to feel that they are owed by the government, and they will see tax cuts as taking something from them!!!! How's that??

Hey, give her a break, you know? It's not easy to rewrite history right under the, you know...Noses of the, you know...Public. Especially when you've had a, you know, female problem since college that, you know, ruins pantsuits faster than Slick's...you know, ruins blue dresses.

Bwa! She's saying they were trying to kill bin Laden?!!!

Clinton warned that if the Bush White House was found to be "wagging the dog" in the war on terror, the president would pay a price at the polls.

Interesting how she's trying to turn the tables. What unmitigated nerve that woman has. Totally shameless.

How can she even insinuate that? There were 4 terrorist attacks on 9/11/01. We responded by going after the terrorists who were training and hiding out in Afghanistan. What's "wagging the dog" about that?

I admire yout restraint, SAMW, but you'd feel better if you didn't hold it in. Whitewashing how you feel isn't good. Let loose -- you'll feel better.

(LOL! I've got to print that one!)

Let's not forget the idiot soccer mom factor, women who will vote for whoever claims to care the most. Then, there are the abortionists, the homosexuals, and people, conservative or liberal, who will vote for whoever they feel will fatten their wallets.

You Know, Crusty, I nearly gagged listening to your lies this morning, you know. After denying, you know, that your you know, husband, you know, wagged the dog, you know, you then accuse the Bush administration of doing that, you know.

I would hope, "I'm melting, I'm melting!". But, that is too much to ask, I guess.

LOL! I love that! At the very least she should be afraid that a house will fall on her!

Well the ex-first bitch finally found a reason to defend that filthy husband of hers.

I hope she knows this doesn't change a thing, she was still cuckoled.

With anyone but Hillary the husband would have been considered as having been unfaithful to his wife, but Hillary was ROYALLY CUCKOLED!

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving wife!

Until she is firmly implanted in the White House, she'll continue to sing the praises of the zit. What will be interesting is, once she decideds to dump him, whose side will the press take? I look for them both, as well as the press, to heap all the blame for the split on Republicans.

Ha! That's some feminist icon, isn't it? While conservative women are out earning their successes, feminists are praising hollow hags, like Hillary.
