Daschle Lies on National Television
Fox News Television | September 12, 2002 | Miss Marple

Posted on 09/12/2002 9:39:47 AM PDT by Miss Marple

This is important enough to merit a short thread, I believe.

About a week ago Senator Nickles of Oklahoma said he specifically asked the President if he wanted an Iraq resolution before the October recess, and the President answered "Yes."

Today, Fox was interviewing Senator Warner of Virginia, who said that the President has specifically asked members of BOTH parties and BOTH houses of Congress for a resolution before the October recess, and the meeting took place in the cabinet room. I am assuming this is the meeting at which Senator Nickles was present, and I would assume Senator Daschle was also present.

THEN, Daschle comes out saying the President hasn't yet made his case, and says that placing a resolution in front of the Senate is "premature" because "the President hasn't asked for one yet."

This statement by Daschle is therefore an obvious lie, and I am trying to get as many people aware of this as possible.

The comments are on tape, so I am hopeful Fox will air them this evening, and also hopeful talk radio will pick up on the comments.

Senator Warner was quite impassioned, and said that international cooperation will fall away if we do NOT get a resolution demonstrating solidarity with the President.

He means he hasn't asked it from the bully pulpit but only in a semi-private setting that little tommy thinks he can ignore.

On second thought you are probably right.

Thanks for the bump. I even put up a separate thread about what Nickles had to say!

Maybe Daschle is attempting to parse words in the great tradition of another shameless RAT. Hopefully he is committing political suicide by constantly stonewalling and obstructing the administration in matters of national defense.

Does he come up for re-election, in 2004?

Will he face a strong opponent? Who?

Yes, his term is up in '04. He will have to decide if he's going to run for President or to retain his Senate seat. He's delusional if he thinks he has a prayer in hell of becoming President. SD is such a conservative state I don't understand why they keep him around, except that he is apparently exceptionally talented at bringing home the pork.

What Lil' Tommy appears to be trying to do is regain control of the situation.

First the liberal rags started harping on the Iraq issue and how the majority of the American people were supposedly beginning to have grave doubts, and now we have the spokesman for the Dems telling us that GW has to make his case and then ask very very nicely.

Ha! Ha! Judging from his grim expression today I would say that Lil' Tommy has an inkling that the can of worms they opened isn't going to be as appetizing as they originally thought.

Despite months of pounding by the appeaseologists at the NY Times and other sympathetic outlets the Dems haven't "softened" up the public. Bush has the solid support of most Americans with his polling numbers going UP.

Meanwhile the Dems who started this whole debate on Iraq seem to be at a loss as exactly how they are going to get back the control.

Even the UN has been challenged to stop coddling Saddam and make him listen up to their endless resolutions.

Bush is calling the shots and he definitely isn't going to "REQUEST" (take that beg) Lil' Tommy and his allies for a damn thing. As a matter of fact, he is going to make the Dems go on record as to where they stand..a position that they seem very reluctant to give.

It's a good day to be a Republican.

Anytime a top Democrat looks that unhappy Republicans are doing something right.

"Correction, McCain is coming through for his COUNTRY."

...For a refreshing change.

Personally, I don't care what self serving reasons are behind it, or even if he's just feeling the guilt of his almost traitorous ("I HAVE A MANDATE") actions of the past twenty months, I'm just glad he got on board for a change.
