Vanity Opinion: Free Republic to Maintain Present Course - Call for More Turns on the Screws.
Patriots and Politics ^ | September 6, 2002 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 09/06/2002 4:36:11 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just in case there is any lingering doubt, my intention for Free Republic is to maintain the present course. The course charted is, IMHO, the direct line to freedom.

Our mission, as stated on our front page and elsewhere is, "...to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America."

And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

The people who are killing freedom in our country just as they are all around the world are the leftists or marxists. The leftists/marxists dominate the communist parties, the socialist parties and the American Democrat Party.

The leftist/marxist infested Democrat Party has controlled all or most of our government for what? Sixty, seventy, eighty years or more of the last hundred?

The populists, progressives, socialists, marxists, leftists, liberals, Democrats, or whatever label you place on them are the people responsible for the slave tax, aka, the income tax, the "New Deal," the Ponzi social security scheme, the "Great Society," the socialist medicare nightmare, the welfare state, environmentalnazism, feminazism, high taxes, high spending, weakening and demoralizing our military, etc., etc.

They're also responsible for abridging/restricting/curtailing many of our constitutionally guaranteed rights, such as the right to keep and bear arms, the right to freely practice our religions, the right to freedom of association, while at the same time inventing a whole new class of extra constitutional leftist "rights" such as the "right to choose," i.e., legalized abortion, "gay rights," the "separation of church and state," etc.

In addition, they are responsible for "socializing," i.e., implementing government forced and taxpayer funded education, health care, insurance and retirement programs.

They've completely taken over our our education systems where they indoctrinate our youth with their immoral and Godless socialist dogma. They've dummied-down, demoralized and destroyed our society and our traditional family units and value systems.

After all this, to me, they are the party mostly to blame for the erosion of our Constitution, the destruction of our society, the loss of our national sovereignty, the loss of our states rights, and the wholesale corruption of our government.

Thus, as I see it, the best course of action to right these wrongs is to continue removing the liberals, socialists and leftists from our government as fast as we can. Eliminating the liberal influence automatically raises the level of conservatism in our government and its institutions.

We eliminate them by replacing them with non Democrats. This means, for the most part, supporting and voting for the Republican candidate in each race whether it be federal, state or local.

The Libertarians, Reformers, and other third parties know they cannot win national races. They do a great job writing, debating, and fighting for our constitutional rights, but they are not effective enough to win races. God bless them, they do not have and never will have the numbers necessary to win.

I fully support President Bush and the war on terrorism. We either fight this war now, and fight it over there and on our terms, or we can wait and fight it here on our soil. I never want to see a repeat of 9/11!

I never again want to see American blood running down our streets. The primary function of the federal government is to defend our borders, and, in this fight, that is exactly what we are doing.

I urge all conservatives and freedom loving Americans to go to the polls in November and give the President and the Congress a mandate to swing America away from the left. The pendulum has been way off to the left for way too many years. It's time to swing it our way for a change. It's time to crank a few more turns to the screws.

However, I'll have to wait until I see who the "keeper of the cards" will be. I have to feel comfortable with who has my CC number. Maybe I'll just mail checks.

Is there PayPal processing now? How does that work, exactly? Does anyone see or have access to your credit card/personal info if you donate that way? I think a lot of people would like to know about that - it sounds like a good option for people who are nervous about giving out their CC#s.

The astounding thing was, he was reading "The Road to Serfdom" by FA Hayek. Not Das Kapital, or the Manifesto, but "The Road to Serfdom". It occurred to me that Hayek will likely end up being to the 21st century, what Marx was to the 20th. And if that's so, then everything is going to be OK.

That's a mighty big "if."

Speaking of Hayek and Crossroads.

RE: 2002 Election Polling Update

Democrats Are Poised for Victory in 2002!
With two months to go until the 2002 fall elections, the nation's political climate has undergone substantial changes this summer. Virtually all of these changes improve the Democrats' prospects for success in this year's mid-term elections at all levels.

Here are just a few of the indicators pointing to big Democratic victories on November 5:

In two late August polls, Americans favor congressional Democrats over Republicans by 8 percentage points. Voters also say they trust Democrats more on handling the nation's major problems, 38-34 percent.

More than twice as many voters listed the economy than homeland security as their top issue. Voters also indicated that they trust Democrats to do a better job on the economy than Republicans by a 44-38 margin.

The president's job approval rating is down 25 percent from a year ago. Several recent national public polls also show Bush's re-elect number at 49 percent, not one point more than he received in the 2000 elections!

Most Americans say the country is headed in the wrong direction by a net negative, between 3 and 12 percent in July and August. A negative rating of this size typically reflects poorly on the party in the White House.
What's more, Democrats are winning on the issues. Voters are concerned with the economy, health care, and Social Security, and these are the issues that they trust Democrats to fix.

Republicans are clearly seen as party of big business, while the Democrats are seen on the side of working families. By a whopping 63 percent to 23 percent, voters say that Republicans in Congress care more about the interests of large corporations than about protecting the interests of working families.

Health care, prescription drugs and Social Security remain top election-year issues. Republicans' vulnerability as the party of corporate special interests has strong potential to affect the way voters evaluate the choice in this year's elections on other key issues, including prescription drugs and Social Security. Voters trust Democrats to do a better job of protecting Social Security than Republicans by a 17-point margin.

The Republican Medicare prescription drug plan gives HMOs too much power. The Democratic plan is written for seniors, while Republicans' plan is written by and for the drug companies and insurance industry.

Despite drops in the stock market, Republicans continue to push their risky Social Security privatization scheme. Democrats want to strengthen Social Security by protecting benefit cuts and stopping privatization efforts.
Democrats are better positioned today to win back the House, make gains in the Senate and capture a majority of governorships in November 2002. But we still need your help to win on November 5!
