An Al-Qa'ida-Affiliated Online Magazine: On the Importance of Jihad as a Means of Destroying the 'Infidel Countries' In an article in the sixteenth issue of the online magazine Al-Ansar, which is affiliated with Al-Qa'ida ,(1) a columnist identified as Seif Al-Din Al-Ansari discussed the Koranic verse "Allah Will Torture Them [the Infidels] At Your Hands": The Annihilation of the Infidels is a Divine Decree "Regardless of the norms of 'humanist' belief, which sees destroying the infidel countries as a tragedy requiring us to show some conscientious empathy and... an atmosphere of sadness for the loss that is to be caused to human civilization - an approach that does not distinguish between believer and infidel... - I would like to stress that annihilating the infidels is an inarguable fact, as this is the [divine] decree of fate..." "When the Koran places these tortures [to be inflicted on the infidels] in the solid framework of reward and punishment... it seeks to root this predestined fact in the consciousness of the Muslim group, asserting that the infidels will be annihilated, so as to open a window of hope to the Muslim group..." "Nevertheless, [this divine decree] has become, for some, a tranquilizing pill... When the enemy launches operations of colonialism and destruction, we find that a few [of the Muslims] refrain from entering the battlefield claiming that the elements of the collapse of Western civilization are proliferating [in any event]." "Their conclusion is indeed true, but the way in which it is presented is misleading, and it is aimed at removing responsibility [to fight the infidels] from the Muslim, with the claim that Allah has already promised to take care of the infidels' annihilation." Muslims Must Not Wait Passively for the Divine Decree to Just Happen "...I would like to point out the danger of this analysis, because it... [may] make the Muslims passive and turn [them] into one who does not act to carry out [the commandments] of the religion or to dispel falsehood, but lives always in an atmosphere of passive waiting, that is cloaked - always - by a call to trust in the ability of Allah!!" "When Allah told us of the certainty of the annihilation of the infidels, He did not do so using ambiguous concepts. He clarified that this would be achieved in one of two ways: by means of a direct act of Allah... or by means of the Muslim group, which would, in accordance with the Islamic commandment, serve as an implement for carrying out [the divine decree], as it is said: '...Allah will torture them [the infidels] Himself or at our hands (Koran 9:52).'" "Yes, perhaps it is predetermined that the infidel country will be annihilated. But [if the believers do not act] this kind of annihilation will never be in favor of the Islamic state. The infidel country will be annihilated in favor of an infidel country like it or even worse than it..." "Therefore, the belief in 'annihilating the country of heresy' [only] opens up for us a window of hope, and sets for us a goal that is in the realm of the possible - but it does not annihilate the infidel country for us, nor does it even affect it!!" "This is merely a belief, which, if unaccompanied by the words 'at your hands' that appear in the Koranic verse [9:14, 'Fight them and Allah will torture them at your hands'] - it will remain in the wonderful realm of ideas that float in the theoretical universe, and is like beautiful dreams that arouse conscientious emotions - yet, when we awake, we find that the infidel country still exists, falsehood is not destroyed [by itself] in favor of the truth, [except when] the truth goes into action..." "The importance of the human effort to annihilate the infidels... is what Allah sought to teach the Muslims at the Battle of Uhud [625]. Then, there were [Muslims] who thought that because they were right they would most certainly defeat the enemy. The [Muslims] paid a high price for this..." "By Means of Jihad - Allah Tortures [the Infidels] with Killing" "The question now on the agenda is, how is the torture Allah wants done at our hands to be carried out?... This torture will not, in any way, be carried out by means of preaching [Da'wa], because preaching is activity of exposure, aimed at clarifying the truth in a way that makes it more easily acceptable. Preaching has nothing to do with torture; Jihad is the way of torturing [the infidels] at our hands." "By means of Jihad, Allah tortures them with killing; by means of Jihad, Allah tortures them with injury; by means of Jihad, Allah tortures them with loss of property; by means of Jihad, Allah tortures them with loss of ruling. Allah tortures them by means of Jihad - that is, with heated war that draws its fire from the military front..." "The Tortures Will Bring the Infidels to the Path of Righteousness" "Material power is [to be] confronted with material power, and ideological power is [to be] confronted with ideological power... It would be idiocy to rely on the power of the truth in the face of F-16s. Allah is capable of destroying His enemy without anyone's mediation and without anyone's help, as His capability is absolute and unsurpassed. In spite of all the characteristics of power at their command, these infidel states are no more than a handful of creatures on the speck of dust called Planet Earth... [But] Jihad serves as a trial by suffering for the Muslims by means of the infidels, and for the infidels by means of the Muslims." "The Muslims' trial by suffering is manifested in Jihad's being the instrument by which it is possible to differentiate between the believers and the hypocrites... The infidels' trial by suffering is manifested in Jihad being an exemplary lesson in values, delivered by a group of the pioneers of the Islamic nation, in a practical presentation" "Many of the infidels will be shocked; their emotional entity will be shaken; and perhaps some of them will repent and learn their lesson. In addition, Jihad is a means of defeating them, and perhaps by means of this victory... the tortures will bring them back to the path of righteousness..." This is exactly what Muslims should condemn. This distrotion of the Qur'an and the disregard for the Sunnah (Teachings of Muhammed, PBUH) is an outrage. Islam is not about murder and slaughter, and whoever thinks that it is needs to research Islam a little more closely. This murderous hate-mongering is something to be abhored, and I implore every Muslim to denounce these people and step away from them. This is not the way a Muslim is supposed to act. All forms of hate are wrong. We are not the judges, for the True Judge will make all decisions on the Last Day. Peace to all who want a peaceful world.

That may be the case. But, in the eyes of the Radical Islamists, you would also be targeted as an infidel for your beliefs. Muslims like what you describe did not attack us. The ones that spout hate and the end of civilization as we know it did.

From what I've read and understand of this "religion", Muhammed took Mecca and Medina by force. The unbelievers refused to convert, so he in essence said "Convert or die." Many died and many converted, out of intimidation.

It's been this way throughout history. Look at Pakistan/Bangladesh, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as many African nations. Everywhere the Muslims wanted to spread their Islamic "faith" it was done by force, not through evangelization by peaceful missionaries.

This article just re-affirms the Islamic stance regarding non-muslims. The Koran is a War manual and Islam is a cancer on the face of this earth and needs to be stopped. I understand radiation works pretty well to eradicate cancers.

They're afraid to say it; when a few very vocal and violent thugs are added to a group of decent folk, the decent folk are quickly cowed into silence. Their silence encourages the thugs to go beyond intimidation of their own people, to outright violence against any dissenters, and more violence directed towards outsiders. The perps know their group is unhappy but deflect this by blaming outsiders for their ills, and they go on to attack people beyond their group. Meanwhile, their group remains cowed into silence. And that silence angers the outsiders who are also being victimized by the thugs. The anger results in vigilanteism at times, which in turn makes blaming outsiders and violence agaisnt them seem justifiable. It's a vicious circle.

But the circle can be broken when the people in the base group realize that they can take on the thugs and start to speak out in condemnation of them. They can clean out undesireables in their communities by standing up for what is right, instead of protecting those who are wrong.

We've heard all these statements about true muslims and suchlike. And the so called distortion of the kuran.

You're gonna have a hard time convincing us of the BS about islam being hijacked when all over the world, from the Piillippines to Indonesia, Malaysia, even Thailand now, to Kashmir, Chechnya, Israel, Sudan, Algeria and the Balkans, the jihadis pursue their bloodletting with great fervor, enthusiasm and joy.

Better yet, the serious issue is the total lack of credibility on the part of the US muslims in relation to the rest of America. You can contact the ISP and ask them about the site. Most ISPs have policies which allow them to remove sites which have 'hate speech' or carry illegal terrorist activites. It is true that American Muslims have been invisible during this whole escapade and that our voices have not received national attention during the tradegy of Sept. 11th. But you speak as if you have a serious chip on your shoulder. You immediatly go into an offensive attack instead of looking at the cause of all of this. Madmen have been allowed to run many of these Middle-Eastern countries and they have depressed the economies and stolen from the weak and down-trodden. This has created a powder-keg which let the likes of Osama Bin Laden become a messiah to the oppressed masses. He teaches hate and he does indeed distort the Qur'an.
But American Muslims are not tolerent of terrorisim. Why do you think most of these forigners came here? They are trying to escape the hell that their countries have become because of these dictators. We speak out against terrorisim, but we do not receive national attention and we do not have a public forum for people to listen to our opinions.

After the September Attacks on America in 2001, literally every TV talk show offered American Muslims the opportunity to talk about the attacks.

What we got was moral lecturing and putting the blame on the USA. Spokesmen like Ibrahim Hooper and others were very careful not to condemn islam or give us some cliches about them not being real muslims. These were representatives of 'mainstream' muslims groups like CAIR and AMC.

The opportunity was given. And American muslims failed to grasp the nettle.

Answer one question for me. Which war or by whose sword was responsible for the conversion of the population of Indonesia, the country with the most Muslims in it. The truth is, nobody fought to convert the Indonesians. The Muslim traders came into Indonesia and through example and good works, people started to accept Islam. This is fact. You may believe what you want, but the reason that Muhammed (PBUH) fought against the non-Muslims was that he was under attack. The "infidels" were the ones who initiated the battle, and if you read the Qur'an, it says "And fight them on until there is no more oppression, and religion is for God. If they cease attacking, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression, for God never loves the warmonger." (2:193). This EXPLICITLY tells Muslims to not war with those who are not warring with them. You may find many different translantions of the above passage, but this is an accurate translation, from Arabic to English. When it says "Fight until religion is for God", this is speaking about the pagans who worshipped objects and not God. Remember, Muhammed (SAW) had a good relationship with the Christians. He was granted safety in Medina by the Christians, and they were mutually respectful of each other. In the words of the Qur'an: Quran 17:36. "We have full respect to those who believe different than us." Quran teaches : "There shall be no compulsion in religion". 2:256
