Here is the running tally of the informal "Amnesty for Illegal Aliens?" poll through post #850
1. Support blanket Amnesty - 2. Support partial Amnesty - 3. Support no Amnesty - 4. Did not state - |
1 10 179 13 |
You may notice that the tally for "Did not state" has declined since the last update. A few folks clarified their positions, thus the change.
I'll update this periodically. If you've not offered an opinion yet, please feel free to do so. Or if you know people who haven't, feel free to flag them here.
Thanks.

Thanks for the update and this important thread that tells the story for the overwhelming majority of Freepers on this issue.

Thanks for the info.

Keeping in mind what I said in #812, put me down for "partial amnesty", with the understanding that I get to choose the selection criteria.

What did you put me down as? :)

I support partial amnesty, and am open to arguments for full amnesty, but only if tied to MEANINGFUL reforms.(Among others, that would include increased legal immigration but better vetting procedures, increased fines for those employing illegal aliens, no special passes for "persecuted" homosexuals, and deployment of the military to enforce our borders.)
And before the knee-jerks flame me as a communist liberal(not talking about you Saber, I can respect that you disagree with me on immigration issues), I also support RKBA, outlawing abortion, tax cuts, eliminating income tax withholding, a stronger military, the death penalty, reduced govt spending, eliminating programs, line-item vetos, require Congress to adhere to the same regulations they subjugate us to, downsizing and eventual elimination of the DOEducation, major revisions to civil service legislation, privatization of airport screeners, repealing motor voter, and tort reform.
But I guess I'm a RINO to some here.

I think the Mexican's are mostly honest and nice family people. We are lucky they are our neighbors.
But I don't want to finance a nickle of any social program or education for them.
If they can't afford to pay for what is taken in social services, go home.
If they want temporary visas, apply for work and don't tap our social service, FINE!
If they want to stand in line 10 years and attempt to become citizens, fine.
That aside, get the rest out of here.

I don't know if I actually said the words "no amnesty" in my previous posts. If I didn't, NO AMNESTY!

I support no amnesty.
In addition, I think there should be a moratorium on all immigration from any country at this time. We must secure our borders first.

Thanks for the tally! My ancestors came here on the boat, went through Ellis Island upon their arrival and subsequently studied to become U.S. citizens. They did it (and I'm darned thankful they did), and so can anyone else who wants to come to this county.

No amnesty and throw out any politician that advocates such an immoral and unethical thing.
