JOIN US:   PROTEST RALLY!

Monday, August 26th at 6PM at City Hall (South End)

Led by Artist Scott LoBaido, 4th generation New Yorker

Supported by NYC C.L.A.S.H.

" A TRUE REVOLUTION "

Click here for a message from Scott LoBaido

Mayor Bloomberg has decided to supercede the city council's proposals to ban smoking in NYC with a totalitarian one of his own, backed up by his own hand-picked gestapo, Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden and his agents.

On Monday, August 12th, the mayor made his proposal public --

TO BAN SMOKERS EVERYWHERE IN NYC

(NY Times Reports:  Bloomberg Seeks to Ban Smoking in Every Restaurant and Bar)

THE ANTI-SMOKER OPERATIVES ARE NOW REPORTING THAT
BEACHES AND PARKS
WILL BE NEXT!
WHO'S RUNNING THIS CITY?!?

(NY Post Reports: Beach Butt Ban )

In his acceptance speech on Nov. 6th, 2001, Bloomberg said the following:

"We must put aside anything that divides us.  This is NY and it's going to be for all New Yorkers."...

"...Except for those 'stupid' and 'crazy' smokers."

(By the way, someone has started a lawsuit campaign over those remarks.  See Sue Bloomberg for details.)

MAYOR BLOOMBERG WAS ELECTED TO REPRESENT ALL THE PEOPLE IN NYC.  THE CITY DOES NOT REPRESENT MAYOR BLOOMBERG.

Smokers have been the only ones burdened in this city to sustain it financially with an exorbitant tax increase meant to fill the coffers and punish us at the same time.  Only sadists kick people some more once they've already been knocked down.

If we can't smoke in public why should we pay the public's taxes?!  It is smokers' money that nows pays for the upkeep of public places and continuing services.  Where else do you pay for something and are denied access at the same time?

And don't hand us that line about how the smokers wouldn't be banned.  In relation, in 1969 when gays were told they couldn't assemble in places where the owners were happy to serve them, gays weren't banned either.  What was forbidden was acting gay, so this is really the same abuse.

Who owns the restaurants and bars anyway??  It is certainly not city-owned or public property.  It is PRIVATE PROPERTY where the owner ALLOWS the public to enter.

Whether you smoke or not, we call on all defenders of democracy to join us in denouncing such government infringement on private property rights.  It is NOT a health issue, it's a freedom of choice issue.

Allow them to discriminate against one segment of society and they will come for you next.

When the health-Nazis came for the smokers,
I was not a smoker,
therefore, I was not concerned.

And when the health-Nazis attacked the obese,
I was not obese,
therefore, I was not concerned.

And when the health-Nazis attacked the drinkers and the alcohol industry,
I was not a drinker,
therefore I was not concerned.

Then, the health-Nazis attacked me and the freedom loving Americans who remained,
and there was nobody left to be concerned.

Under Bloomberg's plan, smokers who break the law may be fined $10 to $100 or be jailed up to 30 days [Source: Associated Press; Aug. 16, 2002 ]

MAYOR BLOOMBERG WILL HAVE YOU ARRESTED FOR....  SMOKING!!

Neither am I.

But this law is going to have 10-20 drunks outside of each bar in NYC, puffing away and raising a ruckus.

I do fully support a good night's sleep.

Tri-State Ping!!!!

Thanks SO much! The more people that see this, the more that might attend.

Like the artist, Scott said on John Gibson Show: All you NYC smokers better get out there for this rally! If you don't speak up now, you may as well forget your rights to smoke anywhere! They will start with the beaches and in public, and probably your home next!"

For those who missed it, Scott made it sound as though the Antismokers were the opening wedge to the end of Western Civilization As We Know It and went on to practically SCREAM (several times) at any lazybutt NY smokers who don't come out for their demonstration next week!!!"

Thanks for pinging the New Yorkers!!!

Ok! When the government goes after something that you have enjoyed for years and years and taxes it through the roof, don't come crying the blues to us! You had your chance.

Actually what you will see is fewer people smoking as well as less tolerance for people standing outside bars making noise. It's amazing what a well placed bucket of water out the window will do.

Newsstands in NYC are already reporting lower cigarette sales with the current $7.50 a pack price.

Whatever.

I was merely pointing out that this rally is not, as you suggested, in support of smoking.

I am sure you want to get into a long thread about anti-smoking laws, the effects and incentives. I don't.

I just want to reiterate that this rally is not, as you suggested, in support of smoking. I and other nonsmokers have plenty of reasons to attend.

Exactly and well said. The likes of Mayor BloomingIdiot must wear a brown shirt and march in jack boots. Is that what we want for fellow Americans? To be turned into a bunch of "YES" men for the Government?

It's NOT about smoker's rights. It's about the rights of every individual in New York City if not the entire United States. What one state does rubs off on the rest of us.

I bet if this was a GUN and RIFLE Rally, the place would be packed. Same difference. Protect Our Rights!

Know that this Rally is not just about smoking, even though the message is directed toward smokers; it is about freedom.

Freedom, as a citizen of a free country~ it's your birthright; freedom to make your own decisions.

Know also, that smokers were only the first target of the anti cartel, you might say, the great experiment; their plans reach far beyond the smoking issue. If you have a body mass of more than 20% (that leaves out athletes) you're considered unhealthy and on the list of an attack that's already begun.

Own an SUV, a cell phone, drink soda, etc., etc., etc.? Your number is coming up. And fast.

The anti cartel is picking up speed; they were successful with the oppression of the smoker and have become (your) money hungry.

This is everyones fight; everyone who believes in freedom and the future of the United States, that is.

I bought a pipe yesterday, I look a little silly puffing on it but a friend told me it's about a dollar day of barely taxed loose tobacco option. Add a few RYOs and some internet sales and they're going to get just about nothing from me. The old German blood in me makes a j@ckass look reasonible by comparison.

HE!! yes the newsstands are reporting lower sales.
In all honesty, if you were a smoker, I know that you're not fm69 but IF you were, would you go out and pay $7.50 for a pack of smokes when you could go to the reservation or the internet and get them for $2.00 a pack or less?
Let's be realistic here. Sales are down at the NEWSSTANDS. Not necessarily sales are down EVERYWHERE to New Yorkers.

To all,

I'm a New Yorker, watching from afar, the most despicable things happening to my home state. First, Hillary Clinton, one of the most conniving characters known to mankind finagles her way into being elected to the Senate; then RINO (Republican in name only,) Bloomberg, gets elected on the endorsement of Mayor Giulliano (who we all thought the world of) and now the new Mayor wants to take away the rights of smokers and business owners FOR MONEY. Have no doubt about it; it is FOR MONEY.

This is a great opportunity to show the world what New Yorkers are made of, and it may be the last one you get if Mayor Bloomberg gets his way. The eyes of the world are centered on New York and the world is going to see one of two things happen. They're going to see New Yorkers let the anti-smokers (yes, anti-smokers not anti-smoking) make them cower then walk all over them OR they're going to see who New Yorkers really are; what they've always been~ fighters for the RIGHT!

It's giving New Yorkers the chance to be heard; to make a difference; to set a precedent. "And soon the World will hear you."

For decades, the anti-smokers have been not only brainwashing the public, they've been brainwashing smokers. They've told smokers over and over again how disgusting they are; how smokers are hurting others with their smoking (because when they tried to tell us we were hurting ourselves, it wasn't working, so they redirected their propaganda to others and "the children"); they've turned our children against us, driven a wedge between family members, denied us medical care (they don't care about you or health; they care about your money which they consider theirs for the taking,) convinced some smokers that they had to quit and gave them pharmaceutical drugs that hurt them, they've stolen our money to pay for projects that should be paid for by all citizens; stolen our money to rectify state and city budget deficits and publicly announced doing so (that's how sure they are of themselves); deprived us of the right of free association; constantly accuse grassroots pro-tobacco groups of being fronts for big tobacco (receiving funds from them) when in truth they are the ones who are funded by tobacco money~ money extorted from all smokers from the Federal Master Settlement Agreement which is filtered from the collections of the tobacco companies, to the Government and then to Government Grants which go to the anti-smokers and anti-smoker organizations, and the list goes on.

So how long are smokers and non-smokers who have been closing their eyes to this sabotage going to take this? It's up to you.

Anti-smokers are just that; anti-SMOKER, they are not non-smokers and not anti-smoking as they profess to be. They don't want to stop smoking or they would've made tobacco illegal, but if they did that they'd lose billions of dollars and the states and cities who are leeching off the smoker would have to tax everyone for projects and having to raise everyone's taxes would not be the thing to do for re-election and they'd have to keep their budgets in the black; not being able to handle a budget shows that they're lousy at their job, so the first thing they think of is, "Tax the smokers again; they're easy prey. They won't fight back, we've got them believing they're dirty diseased people.

They can't fight back, we've got all their money." Are they right; is that all we think of ourselves. OR are smokers and restaurant & bar owners going to get out there and show them how we feel. That we're not their Sunday dinner, to be fed upon by greed.

Smokers are 25-30 % of the population; out-numbering Martin Luther King's group, and the Gay Liberation group, yet they were able to have their voices heard. But smokers have been silent. We've got to change that! If they can do it, why shouldn't we be able to? We've got the numbers to speak up; we've got the numbers to swing an election~ easily.

Please, don't be the feast for the Jackals. Get to this Rally and show the Mayor and the antis that we are not third rate citizens and then get Mayor Goldberg OUT OF OFFICE; along with the senator who has dreams of occupying the White House and RULING this country. They don't belong in a ruling position.

Get out to this Rally; every single body counts! And ask all your friends to Rally. Bring your family members and ask that your friends do the same. Bring signs or the American flag (the flag of Freedom,) holler, scream, jump up and down, but~ DON'T BE THE LAMB AT THE SLAUGHTER~ WE MUST STAND UP FOR OURSELVES! AND THIS IS OUR OPPORTUNITY!

A New Yorker displaced in Occupied California

Sorry, can't protest the ban which I think would benefit us all.

You obviously do not understand the law of supply and demand. And it apparent neither does the Mayor of NYC.

If there was such a demand for non-smoking bars and restaurants there would be a proliferation of them all over the place.

I know a restaurant owner with 3 locations and he turned one of them 100% smoke-free, even his non-smoking employees and customers asked him to change it back to accomodate both. He lost 75% of his business at that location in 6 months.

Well now, I gave up smoking in 1993 and still would love a cigarette...so we still allow friends and relatives to smoke...some folks say the best thing about visiting us is that we let them smoke, drink and cuss since I still do the latter two with gusto. I probably should be annoyed that they like smoking drinking and swearing more than they appreciate my jokes, my looks and my personality.

However, I won't be getting back to the city until after Labor Day so kick Bloomies' Butt...I still don't know why he is Mayor.

NONE of us do! It all happened so fast after 9-11, and Rudy endorsed this idiot! Now here New York City sits.......facing a power hungry dictator with money in his pockets to do this.

NEW YORK CITY of all places. Can you believe it!
